Why does this keep happening? People were so excited for housing. One of the biggest reasons for that is because much like Skyriding, you took an idea that other games had and made improvements to it that they lacked. Now you have to go and ruin it by adding premium currency.
WoW is not a F2P game, it’s a subscription-based MMO with paid expansions and already a cash shop. It was assumed that any paid housing items would be put on the shop with mounts, pets, and transmogs. This is crossing the line. You need to reverse course on this immediately.
I am okay with paying $3 to buy a decor item. I’m not okay with having to pay $3 again to get a second one. Hearthsteel should unlock the item permanently and allow you to use it as many times as you desire.
So now that we can buy housing cosmetics with IRL money. Can we buy traders token tender with IRL money these are cosmetics too!? Fair is fair blizzard.
That’s another problem here, not only is this a microtransaction trap, it’s also not an unlock we’re buying, but a one off item.
At least with the Trader’s Post, we’re getting currency as part of our sub and doing stuff in game, AND if we buy an armor mog that’s unlocked for ALL our alts, forever, no matter how many we have or make.
I mean, there’s hundreds of items that were available for testing that were easy to get in game without any effort.
I’m really not that concerned, especially since they said playable race themes will not be on the shop.
It really just comes down to do you have self control when it comes to purchases? Am I happy about this? No. But it des doesn’t sound as bad as I thought it’d be.
Like I said, guess we’ll see if that’s true or just another lie.
I for myself am EXCITED for World of Whalecraft! I hope they add more to the store! They should have mount tenders so that we can buy bonus rolls on all legacy content mounts and transmogs, and also weekly vault slots!
