Design a Gold Sink

A charity drive for players like me who would like to have more gold. Comes with a raffle ticket for a prize!

Circling back to the Guild Housing option, I have a few specific points that would make it particularly effective in this regard:

  • Charge for portals. Guilds can buy portals for their headquarters to any zone in the game. The price of them can be high enough that said guild pushes for donations from its members. Gold transmitted into a benefit, but not a combat one.
  • Limits the phasing. One headquarters per guild is a lot more manageable than one house per player. Having a singular portal in a capital city lead to guild headquarters would also be more convenient; it builds off the same concept class halls did.
  • Emphasizes customization. Players love that stuff. Being able to pick chairs and tables seems frivolous, but that’s what a gold sink is for.
  • Offers promise of future gold sinks down the line. If headquarters is accessed via portal and leads to an instanced space, then larger or differently arranged ā€˜buildings’ could be made available for purchase (again, with gobs of gold) to alter that space. Much like guild bank tabs, players could work TOGETHER to unlock these goals and see a direct impact on their game.

Plus, it has an added benefit for roleplay, because it gives a space that is not phased, cross-realmed, or limited by raid size. Many guilds (like the one I’m in) have to resort to clearing raids for RP to avoid interruption or phasing shenanigans (made worse by Warmode).

You are charged 1000g every post on the forums…and there went ALL my money. What’s very interesting is I will participate a huge amount of time on the forums but have Trade chat on all my realms turned off.

Unfortunately the insanely rich do not get insanely rich by spending their gold. A little food for thought for you.

I thought they did. Buy low sell high. But I understand what you mean.

Death of Dabo … Orc joke ?
