Deserter debuff and why its bad

To those clamming for longer timeouts. Yeah no.
First WG of the day and it started with 33 us and 40 them.

Of course SR was a wipe. So people leave. We are down to 24 now and they smash out 3 towers easily.
13 minutes left and we are getting farmed. No way to win.
at 6 minutes left we finally made it to 40 and it was too late. It was a waste of time because blizzard cant even start it at 40v40.

3 minutes left 39v40 getting farmed and no vehichles. its 24 - 0 …

This is why your lust to punish is bad. The Bgs are just designed bad and need fixed.
When youc ant even get 40 to start?? Yeah lets punish those few left even more.

Games are starting short because of sync exploiters dodging each other. Fix the cause of the problem before you deal with the actual problem. But yes, Epics do need a rework, and we need some new ones.

Problem would just get worse. =/

Epics need to be fixed. WG has been a train wreck for ages. That the entire BG boils down to who wins the first fight is awful design. Blizzard has clearly mailed it in at this point though. :frowning:

The BG shouldn’t have started short 33 players. Maybe there were 40 and 7 dropped which only points to a need for deserter being more thorough. Lots of problems to be fixed.

It’ll never happen, imo. Why would the company want to severely punish its players just because a few people get weirdly upset when people drop out of pointless games. I can sort of see getting upset if you end up as “backfill” in a losing game… but c’est la vie…

It’s really just one group dodging everyone else.

All the epic BGs are like that now. Lose that first fight and half of the losing team just leaves. I don’t view these people as Warcraft players, the ones who quit. They’re tourists.

No, it’s all sync exploiters dodging each other.

No, the true tourist are those that need to cheat to win random bg’s

No. Longer time outs for quitters and account wide. You can still win the BG just because you lost the first team fight. I’ve done it hundreds of times now. If you afk out, you need to be punished, period. Spare me the melodramatic “punishing the players” card. You are griefing me and everyone else that hit the Enter Battleground button when you and your kind afk out of a BG because you didn’t want to pvp to begin with. Stay and play or suffer the consequences of your actions.

If you are after conquest and joining epics to do so, you aren’t playing the game right anyway and your critical thinking skills are a hindrance to the team anyway, begone.

Didnt there use to be a buff if 1 side was drastically outnumbered until it evened out?

If not add it

First deal with the blatant rampant exploiting, then we can work on “leavers”…

That’s a pretty bad hot take, resorting to insulting people simply because they want fun fair games is pretty pathetic.

There was in the original vanilla Wrath version of WG when it first came out. It was actually really bad because it didn’t actually do anything to help you win, but it did turn individual players into raid bosses so the outnumbered side would just go around picking off stragglers instead of doing anything to help the team win (since it was a lost cause anyway).

During an update in Wrath, they changed it so WG started using a queue system that allowed you to queue up like 5 or 15 minutes before the start of the match by either being in the zone or talking to a NPC in Dalaran. The game then would let people in 1 by 1 for both factions so both sides had an equal number of players.
People in WG when the battle was going on that weren’t part of the battle were teleported out.

This was the best version of the original world PvP WG, the most balanced. Though WG was always balanced in favor of the attackers and the losing faction would gain a stacking buff the more times in a row they lost since WG was intended to change sides often.

The problem is they took a world PvP zone and turned it into a regular epic battleground with… Mixed results.

I leave EPIC BGs all the time. I will continue to do it until the Epic Sync premade problem is fixed. I even leave normal Random BGs.

You know why ? GY Stomps and Premades. If I see a premade and we dont have one. Thats an unfair game to me. Ill see if us pugs stand a chance but if its a whitewash. Im out.

Ill hop on another char and sign up. You know what happens ?

I normally jump into a fresh Epic or Random BG with a high likelihood of no premades.

Just the other day I was in an EPIC BG, vsn premade. We lost team fight. I afk out. I hop on another character. Sign up. 2 mins later I get a Queue pop for a fresh Random BG and I have fun winning that close game of pugs vs pugs.

At the end of the day, this game is about having fun. If I’m not having fun then I will change my game to go have fun.

And youll have 1 hour Q times cuz no one is left to play

No you havent. Stop it.

Punished for what? Not getting farmed for 30 minutes? Again youll have a ghost town echo chamber in epics. Stop it.

Now youre really reaching. You lost. Youre idea to puch people into submission to your will is bad game design.

Stay and AFK because no one wants to be farmed for 30-40 minutes. FOr real you cant be serious.

Resorted to insults. You lost at that moment. Blizzard should not listen you you at all.

I do agree, its used to be sad to get destroyed by pre-mades, But now its even worst since they don’t win fast. They just farm you on a choke point for 30mins straight.

Its just frustrating.

Ya it wasn’t really a problem back when it was rare, now it’s almost all day every day.

Yea I do less epics lately not because of premades but more because of the flaw of epics where the first zerg encounter most of the time decides the outcome. I still enjoy AV that still has a higher possibility of a turn around.
So, I don’t see it as a player issue first but a blizz design fault; why stay if your already behind and the counter is a tougher ask and miracle if pugs work it out.

The first problem is asking people’s permission to put them into content, they already requested to do. They could wait to start the match until everyone says they’re ready like solo BG or solo arena, but then you have to click accept many times because other people decide not to be at their computer or decide not to enter the match. No amount of punishment other than IP or account bans would actually prevent players intentionally leaving a losing match. The solution you actually need that you might not know you want is a limit to one group queued together per match. A lot of the queue syning and queue dropping shenanigans goes away once you don’t allow people to choose whether or not they enter and limit the amount of partied groups per instance to one per team.

Q syncing community sucks as a solo random enjoyer. But what holds me back from advocating some kind of crusade to end them is that they are a community that thrives and is entry level pvp friendly with all the how to gear and spec. PvP is niche enough without gate keeping it.

Eh, I’d say that queue syncing premades would be doing rated battlegrounds or organizing arena teams and world pvp if they actually cared about pvp.
Certainly they’d be doing more wargames against each other/themselves and would be more vocal in advocating for changes to the game to make pvp a more fun and fair experience.

Instead you have premade leaders and members coming onto the forums here either bragging about how they are so much better than everyone else, or trying to rules lawyer their way around what they are doing while ignoring the harm it causes the game.

I have a very poor view of premade communities in general, and think they are just like those old ganking guilds I’d help break up on my old server back in the day. You know the type, the ones who go around in a raid camping low levels for literal hours, but as soon as they faced any equal opponent they ran away?

Yeah, queue sync premades are made up of the same type of players. Sure, some might be good, some might want actual pvp, some might advocate for a raid queue for epic battlegrounds and all that, but most don’t.
