Could we attach regular (non proc) Doom Winds to this Stormbringer talent? Having this be Ascendance only limits the ability to choose to play with 1 min CD over 2 min CD.
Wouldn’t that then force Stormbringer Enhancement into a one minute build with no Ascendance? That would make the one minute build have twice as many guaranteed Tempest procs. I agree that the talent needs changed for parity, but force shifting to the extreme opposite isn’t parity.
I think the problem with Stormbringer Enhancement is that is too RNG in general. Totemic and Stormbringer are probably pretty close with overall damage in a vacuum, but Totemic’s damage has a lot more control and a halfway decent player will know when to time it.
I still think that Tempest should be its own ability with its own button and a cooldown.
Would it force that? We’d have to actually do the math on it to figure out if 2 min ascend with rng doom winds would do more than 1 min doom winds first. I’m not sure it forces you to go doom winds at least in pve, it definitely doesn’t in pvp. Maybe it does in pve though.
I’m fine with tempest being rng because it looks to be on a deck rng system which is a lot less limited than fully random or like 1 rppm. It procs very often. Doom winds rng with ascendance however is a little rough, very low proc chance and it’s a high impact proc so if you’re the enhance with the god pull getting 2-3 rng doom winds you’ll just do more than an enh who got 1.
I really don’t like this idea. I’m currently 2400 CR in ENH during pre-patch, and this change would feel terrible.
Right now, we can stack up a 10-charge Tempest, push it, then pop Ascendance and immediately throw out another Tempest. That double Tempest proc is what makes Enhancement burst actually scary. If everything gets tied into a single cooldown, we completely lose that layered burst window. That’s a massive hit to our pressure.
Also, I genuinely enjoy the Stormbringer RNG aspect with Windfury procs. It adds flavor and creates those sudden momentum swings. It breaks up the linear tempo and makes the spec feel dynamic instead of scripted. Removing that would make the gameplay much more flat and predictable.
Overall, this would gut what currently makes Enhancement burst fun and threatening.
Still want to say I think a talent being completely useless if you dont take Ascendance is bad design. I’m not sure how to balance a talent like this, maybe adding Doom Winds to it would make Doom Winds too good, maybe Descending Skies just needs a complete rework or something.
Stormbringer has the option of going Doom Winds+Prim Storm instead of Ascendance for shorter burst windows, the fact this makes Descending Skies entirely useless is not good design.
