You misread it. They decreased the scaling. There’s some kind of scaling in place in delves to try to balance it no matter what your group comp, so a group without a tank won’t take tons of melee damage, a group with just a tank and a healer won’t have to deal as much damage as a group of two dps, etc. In theory it is a sound idea.
Reducing the scaling means they’re reducing the difference between these different comps, so it’s more difficult for everyone.
First of all, it’s released now. Why would they release something they don’t want people clearing? Does that make sense to you?
Also, these will become obsolete pretty quickly, so it makes no logical sense that they don’t want people clearing it for a few weeks. People will not even need to run it by that time because of M+ and raiding.
It’s garbage and anyone defending this needs to get off their weird high horse and realize this is a terrible change.
It’s 603 gear only. You’re acting like it gives the best gear in the bloody game.
My main concern with them is that they advertised them as solo alt/gear catch up activities for players to do.
With all these hotfixes they still havent actually mentioned the biggest issue so far.
The boss spells, even some of the npcs spells.
Like Scarab Swarm. In a solo run it does 800k dmg in just a few seconds. In a 5 man that is ramped up to 1.5 million in a few seconds. Even with defensives its near impossible to get through. Especially for classes that dont have a self heal.
They need to bump the overall damage down by at least 30% if they can do that it should be more bearable to do
Um, I did them solo. I was doing them starting at 575 on my bear and now I’m 591. I have some 603s from delves. What’s really holding my ilvl back is my crappy trinkets. You can look at my gear, you can believe I got it solo or not. I don’t know if there’s any way of checking when I got the drops, but I assure you I was doing them solo.
Now the group ones are more difficult than the solo ones. They’re not just hard, they’re straight up one shotting people with melee hits. The tuning is bugged.
I don’t think anyone here would argue that the scaling was initially broken in favor of groups. We knew this. It was literally easier to do a delve yourself with your buddy AFK at the portal than to solo it without a partymate. Anyone being honest knew that this wasn’t intended, and was likely going to be adjusted to make the group content more difficult, on par with the solo content.
But now the pendulum as swung too hard the other way. They accidentally hit a knob they shouldn’t have hit, and bosses are stomping people in one hit. It’s not an exploit being fixed, it’s a new bug replacing an old one. This is as clearly unintended as the bosses literally losing health when you invite a friend to the group.
What is more likely, actually, is that small groups were having fun in delves and soloers weren’t.
So instead of making soloers have more fun they gated it behind harsher ilvl checks for groups. Because Blizz is incapable of making small group/solo content that isn’t just an ilvl check.
There was no “scaling bug” mentioned in the notes so take off the tinfoil and go back to recognizing routine Blizzard for what it is.

I was doing delves all night and having a lot of fun. It felt like a Diablo style dungeon crawl. Really rewarding too. Why don’t the forums like them?
They were hotfixed last night likely after you were done. My wife and I went from clearing one 8 to being one shot in the next. We figured it was just the difference between the two Delves or that we were off our game and it was time to call it a night then came here to find they announced a hotfix.
heroic doesn’t mean what you think it means . Pugs will have that on farm in a few weeks. Nothing that can be easily pugged should be regarded like you do.
Which is just dumb, the players rushing content already burned 12 keys, stacked their characters with free champion gear running the broken group scaled versions, and have a vault row ready with heroic gear for next week - so now it will once again be those going slower who pay the price for Blizzard’s incompentence.
Delves are just one more bit of content released in an unacceptable state - while other launches have had more issues with keeping the game up, I can’t recall any expansion that has launched with so many ‘features’ and even basics like mob scaling in such a low quality state.
Yep I was running them and actually enjoying myself, and then all the sudden we went into Fungal Folly and we were getting destroyed by millions of damage.
We should be able to do them solo with no problem. Yes things above 8 SHOULD pose a challenge but it’d be nothing beyond remembering to bubble or apply a heal or something.
As for groups? Yes the challenge SHOULD be a bit harder, yes. Impossible? No, it’d behave just like a mythic 2 or something.
Ill reiterate again that boss and enemy mobss SHOULD NOT ever be doing more than the players health at any time. Most of these unavoidable dots some bosses have will quite literally do 5 million damage to most players and tanks are the only classes that have above that.
I could see their attacks taking away half health but i should never see 3 people go from 100% to 0% in two and a half seconds. Thats about how long it takes to cast a good heal as a priest
