Delves. Am I just bad? Voidwalker Vs Felhunter

I am trying to do Delves and I find myself struggling. I have to pick between voidwalker for protection and felhunter for an interrupt. Am I missing another warlock interrupt or is interrupt gated behind felhunter only? Especially the final boss of Earthcrawl Mines if I don’t have the felhunter i’m dead.

The voidwalker as it currently stands can not hold aggro properly. Delves aren’t tuned very well at the moment as well so trying to solo the higher delves is a pain even for tanks. Try using the LFG tool or going in with friends. You’ll typically want to keep the felhunter out anyway if not demo for interrupts since solo running high keys is a no-go right now.

Best stick to VW and stay at MAX distance.

Sent him in 1st for a few seconds.
Set down portal and gateway in case you need to run.

Use Shadowfury for non-boss mobs.
Eat the damage.

I can solo T8, but getting wrecked in T9 because I can’t put out damage fast enough and get swarmed.

i found demo to just be way way easier (even though I do less damage as demo)… pet holds aggro fine and i swapped bran to a healer and he keeps me up pretty well now

That worked for me till like I think tier 10 where it seemed like you need at least 2 interrupts for certain bosses.

Also to add to this I don’t think felguard axe throws works as an interrupt in there. Some of the spellcaster spiders mobs get stun but not interrupted and just go right back into casting the same spell.

Plus it seems some of the delves bosses require either Brann to interrupt correctly or a 2nd interrupt readily available…

Go demo then you got a tank pet with an interrupt. Still think blizz should give a baseline interrupt to lock and remove the interrupt to the Felhunter. The Felhunter special talent would be his dispel.

Like others have said, demo is the play. You can reduce his damage taken by an extra 10% vs all other pets via talents (Demonic Resilience 15%/Annihilan Training 10%), an additional 30% (10sec duration) via soulburn: health funnel every 6 seconds and he has a kick. I’d also recommend that you play soul harvester for the 50% increase to dark pact as well as amplify curse to length the time between the boss’s casts (70% cast time increase).

EDIT: You can also spec into both Fel Pact (Class Tree) and Eternal Servitude (SH Tree) to reduce the cooldown on Fel domination to 30sec if your pet is frequently dying

That’s great advice, thanks for posting those tips.

yeah no kidding tons of great advice in here. thanks peeps

If they made Shadowfury act like the Felguard’s Axe Toss (being a spell interrupt when it can’t stun) might be a solution.

Ive managed solo up to t8, t9 was a bit too much. At least the sinkhole was too much, only one ive tried at t9. Never used felhunter, always been vw, with sac pact, coil and healthstones being enough to tank any damage that comes my way.

Same, I had to use demo to get through an 8. It was still slow and took a lot of small pulls.

Yea never in the history of wow have i been unable to solo any kind of boss. Its not the mechanics, because they are easy enough. Its the fact that you NEED the voidwalker to tank that boss damage but you also NEED the felhunter for interrupt, and the enemy cast the spell a couple times before interrupt is off cd I actually gave up and left

I’ve done all of mine solo as destro. I’ve cleared (I guess farm them now) all of them up to t8 haven’t tried a 9, and Zekvir on ? (not brave enough to attempt??).

For me generally it’s voidwalker the whole way and I use fears/shadowfury for interrupts on trash mobs. With Bran as a healer (level 34) if the voidwalker loses agro I face tank a lot of the trash using CD’s, shadowburn demonic health stones where needed, mortal coil, just all the stuff I guess.

But when it comes to bosses I usually have to decide between interrupt or no interrupt. For most I don’t need it, for a few like earthcrawler mines and I think…spiral weave? I have to have it. Liberal use of gateways, self healing, Bran potions and teleports usually does the job. Oddly I find that more often than not at least for me the voidwalker does tank pretty well.

I started around 575-580ish working through 7’s up to 8’s and now they’re all pretty much easy. Unless Zekvir invades the delve which I had no idea could happen until it did. 9’s… we’ll see

I learned he could do that in my first 7, and he’s done it consistently every time I’ve gotten the version of mines where you use the flamethrower to save Arathi. He always invades for me at the part where you have to fight the 37 nerubians.

Back on topic generally I use the voidwalker as destro, the only exception for me thus far is in mines, the interrupt is too important.

I really hate that even our CC’s dont work on some mobs or bosses. So even though we have literaly no interrupt without doing a demon swap we’re forced to take lethal amounts of damage to the face and hope that Brann, being forced to be a healer, is healing us properly.

It’s like our class wasn’t even taken into consderation when they nerfed Branns ability to interrupt more often, thinking “Every class has an interrupt right?”

Yeah… I ain’t playing the minion dance game. Especially when it makes me cast a 5.4 second summon spell.

Demo + healer bran is the move. Breezing through tier 8s.

Can’t survive melee mobs without the Voidwalker, but can’t get by those pesky casters without your trusty fel puppy? I got a solution for you.

Felguard.

None of this would be a problem if they didn’t make drain heal useless. They literally destroyed the spell it might as well not even be in the spell book.

I mean it will be a problem. Heals never trumps mechanics that will wipe unless you cleanse/use an interrupt. To add to this spamming heals/DPS should never override mechanics.

Higher tier delves are going to be based on hardcore mechanics (which is awesome, hope they have to take into account that we should all have the necessary tools to deal with them or give Brann some of those to help out with) which will be heavily based on using ccs like fear / interrupts at the right time or you wipe who knows maybe banish might have a comeback in some of these.

Like if I remember mage tower, you can spam as much healing as you want but doing the demo mage tower and decided to ignore the symbols or not using any of your curses/interrupt/ meant a wipe as it should be. And I have a feeling the high delves as the expansion concludes will end up having things like this.
