Most wow weapons couldn’t even be lifted. But its a fantasy game after all… most armor wouldn’t have shoulder pads bigger than your torso either.

You mean some of the most clown tier weapons to ever exist lol

While I agree that the plot has been lost a little bit with weapons, and we should kinda dial down the “creativity” on them for more classic looks, and that “simple” weapon design has gotten “fatter” with more pixels; I don’t think Sire’s Remornia is a good example.

Remornia is a unique, legendary, renowned weapon. Just like Frostmourne. We should not have access to it. That is why he drops the swords that he does, which are in the aesthetic of the raid, and quite frankly are amazing looking.

As much as I love certain weapons, I personally do not like when they are made available to players, because it removes the fantasy of how important and legendary this weapon is.

It kinda gets old to see 10,000 people running around with Ashbringer. That’s just me.

they could’ve given us a replica version of it

I mean you get her as a pet though.

I mean sure clown tier weapons have always existed, but like my example stated prior if you bothered reading, Quel’Serrar vs the DF remasters. The former actually has a blade, the latter a fat stone-like slab.

Even most Classic weapons with exaggerated designs at least had… you know, blades, like a sword would.

If you had told me that once I got The Untamed Blade I would have reached the pinnacle of Sword xmog … I would have never believed you.

I even remember when the initial screenshots of it were posted, before BWL was even released. I still remember my jaw dropping, how BEAUTIFUL that sword was. And it 100% fit the theme of the raid, too!!!

I assumed that would happen … well, at least occasionally.

I’ve never once had that experience since then.

The clown stuff is cool though. :robot::rightwards_hand:

UTB is a great example of how a sword doesn’t need to be super realistic yet is convincing. I’m not convinced by most sword assets that have come out as of late.

Then again, we play a game where (as you said) these GIANT, 2H swords are well over the line for anything that could even remotely be considered “realistic” …

… and yet we have a class that holds one in EACH … HAND.

It’s one of the handful of reasons I just can’t play Fury. Just the basic premise is too stupid for me to deal with.

Weapons and armor have always been extreme, but some of the scaling has just gone insane in later xpacs.

and then there is me…holding a shovel on my ret paladin.

I do hate the thicker blades. They indeed do not look like swords.

WoW weapons being stylized is one thing, it’s how they’re stylized. Classic weapons like UTB are stylized yet convincing and don’t look like play-doh as Retail offerings do.

Yup. I am fine with alot of the stylized appearance of the gear it it’s just the ridiculously disproportionate scales and materials that look so hilariously bad.

Some of their designs are questionable but vanilla weapons actually look sharp. So many modern swords look like foam lol.

Of course they looked sharp, they were made of 18 polygons, it was impossible to make anything not look sharp

Heck you could stab people with a ball

What is engaging in good faith
