You’re the one moving it you said it was a “staple of the class” , now it’s just “did it have melee or not”
that goal post is on wheels for you and a jet pack.
*Lock can equip 1 handed swords right, anyone want to pawn off melee as a staple of the lock class…
**and seems you can’t read what you typed and can’t read what others typed either…
Saying I didn’t answer you when I did (both your questions\comments), what, you’re so mad you can’t read coherently? (at no point did i say it never had any melee, but I did say it was not a staple of the class, your own words not mine…)
Considering how much you like to lean on the “facts” angle, like Bepples have already pointed out, 7 years ago, we were in BrF. Feel free to show all my attempts at “passing my opinions as facts” that I supposedly did back then.
You do see the irony here, don’t you?
Oh, and then there’s this:
Yep, you sure are doing that…
For one, this is what you’d call a ‘non-answer’, in relation to what you quoted. Secondly, do you know what “having a coherent theme/identity” means? Doesn’t seem like it, based on your answer.
Nice attempt at deflection. This is not what any one of us here have argued, at any point in the past. If you think that this is the case, feel free to show when we’ve done this.
Either you aren’t reading what people are saying, or you don’t understand what people actually mean when they talk about “lacking a coherent theme/identity”.
When it was a brand new game, the hunter class had the ability ‘Eyes of the Beast’. Would you say it was a “staple” of what you’d call a primary style of combat for the class? Would you say that it was intended by design for us to fight primarily using the ability ‘Eyes of the Beast’ when going into dungeons/raids, or doing PvP?
Again, noone here has ever argued that this wasn’t the case. I generally avoid using this term, but you do need to work on your reading comprehension.
…I just wanna know why we’re using Rexxar in the MSV/RSV argument over theme and identity when for Rexxar’s entire existence from WC3 to pre-Legion, Rexxar was the Beastmaster.
Methinks that kind of supports the argument that MSV doesn’t have exactly a strong, cohesive theme, if Blizzard had to clumsily retcon Rexxar after fourteen years.
Just saying, is all.
Edit: also I’m back! Sorry I went MIA, the last couple months was brutal on me. But things are finally calming down.
Methinks you should try reading again, as the RSV stance for years at this point is that hunter shouldn’t be melee. The new argument, read whine, is that there isn’t a theme for SV. Being melee is clearly a theme and one that has existed since the inception of the game. The argument for whether BM or SV should have been the melee spec is a completely separate argument.
For reference, Ghorak is once again writing novellas and trying to pass his opinions off as facts. It’s been the same here for years at this point.
Did lock have melee abilities and a tree where you could enhance those abilities? Maybe try again when you grasp the simple facts.
A tree you mean at most 2 or 3 (ok looking back maybe 1 or 2 is closer after Lacerate was delete *before classic was even over) talents that help in melee? you mean that tree? the tree they ended up making the end talent Wyvern sting *that was a melee spell right lol? you mean that tree? ya that tree sounds really like it was made for melee… /s
Hell back then a Lock could probably face tank a mob better with the right spec than a hunter could…
those the facts you’re looking for?
ya really sounds like Melee was the staple of the class…
*just to refresh our memories.
it’s so “Staple” the manual only goes as far as saying you can equip some melee weapons but never talk about using them at all.
Other guy is right you do jump all over the place or changing the bar, makes it hard to follow… but in the end the original designers back up what I say…
The Hunter
The Hunter is a unique class in the World of Warcraft because it is primarily a ranged attacker. Even though other classes can learn to use ranged weapons none of them is as proficient in their deadly use as the hunter. To support the hunter’s ranged attacks, this class has Two main advantages: a loyal pet and a wide array of movement-restricting spells.
Class Abilities
The hunter is a combat class, like the rogue and warrior, but where-as those classes rely on melee attacks, the hunter relies on ranged power.
***funny side note from your questions.
hitting things is an ability (auto attack) and locks can equip a melee weapon so with your above requirements locks are melee.
*keep having to add stuff *kinda fun, since you keep changing the bar’s you keep leaving loopholes.
You really struggle to comprehend what the actual argument is, don’t you?
Let’s just post it again…
Ironic statement considering most of my reply was quotes of things that you said.
7 years, according to you. Yep, you sure are all about the facts…
Also, funny how you managed to not address a single point. Instead dismissing everything as being opinions. Proving once again that you either don’t thoroughly understand what is written, or you don’t actually read before posting replies of your own.
You’re right in that the two arguments are separate arguments.
The reason I find this odd is because it was you who brought up Rexxar when people were talking about SV being made melee.
So I’m just not sure why you were bringing in Rexxar when talking about MSV. I can understand it if you’re talking solely about the melee aspect… but you aren’t.
Hey, maybe it’s unintentional. But the thing is, you’re blending those two arguments together. I’m just wondering what your primary objective is — and right now, it’s a little bit hard for me to track your point with you jumping around. So I’d appreciate clarification from you!
My latest facts, and resultant personal opinion and game choices based therein:
I work a lot of hours. I’m tired and want to relax when i get home and play. I want quality of life conveniences, not min/max power as if I’ll ever be world class competitive.
Melee is not convenient: gotta run up there to whack it, and keep it chased down. I want ranged.
Traveling is irritating and time consuming. I like teleporting. Vulperas have an extra teleport.
My new class: Vulpera Frost Mage, so while the hunter was interesting for a short spell, i no longer need to worry about them, and for Bepple’s benefit, i withdraw my glowing praise for the current survival spec.
Oh, and he levels pretty fast, which i also like. Those tents count as a well rested area, so you can logout immediately, anywhere, and come back with rested xp bonus.
I think this is the most convenient toon I’ve ever had. Thanks for souring my opinion of the hunter community?
Surv hunter might be in trouble if Blizzard gave Death Knights the same taming ability but for undead. However with the variety of undead there are, it most likely will not happen.
Plus, being able to pick one class to either go ranged or go melee with is nice. Either way we get to bring pets to suit our utility needs :3
Playing a Nightborne who throws bombs, swings a massive sword, and fights with a pet just feels good.
