Blood DK here, I have talented Bind in Darkness which turns Blood Boil to Shadowfrost damage, is it effected by Rune of Razorice? I know it works for Soul Reaper and Exterminate but does it work with Blood Boil and it’s DOT?
If the tooltip says Shadowfrost damage explicitly, it should.
Though I wouldn’t use Razorice for Blood DK in any form.
Interesting.
Hope we can find a better qualified answer to that. I admittedly don’t play enough Blood DK as I used to.
But I do have a DB Blood DK though so I am curious about this.
You can also ask in Acherus Discord and see if you can get any answers from there! ![]()
I mean, you can just test it out cant you? Just take away all procs from other sources (trinkets, enchants, tier sets, talents) and get a baseline, then put RI on your weapon and see if it increases.
RI doesnt give you anything in terms of defense though. FC does.
Unfortunately it only gets applied to “Frost attacks” not spells that do frost damage, Look here to see the list of spells that are effected by it https://www.wowhead.com/spell=51714/razorice#used-by-npc . Anything blood has that overlaps that list is applicable. It’s not a bad play, but does take a tiny bit of ramping to get 5 stacks to get the most out of it, so you may need to wait a few seconds on opener to reapers mark if you wanted full stacks when it pops.
Freemoney has your answer. On the page he links, scroll down and click the “modifieds” tab. Blood boil nor blood plague is there.
I play the San’layn talent. Rune of Sanguination increases Death Strike damage by 50% on average, which is strong in single target and 3 targets with the tier set - probably 10-15% boost
The Fallen Crusader rune is generally up 50-75% of the time I think, with the 18% boost you can argue if everything is linear you’d be getting between 9% and 13.5%.
Stoneskin Gargoyle is 100% uptime which is nice, yielding 6% str, so 6% damage. But the bonus armor and stamina is great, especially with 100% uptime and not having to worry about it falling off when damage spikes up.
Your razor ice scenario: you will have to characterize how much value each stack gives, the rate of accumulation you get stacks, and then what % increase that yields you. You will need to do this for single target, 5 target, and 10 target. I’d recommend performing experiments.
I mean keep up the ingenuity, don’t just copy/paste from top level players. Guaranteeing a 40 stack reaper’s mark is nice, but I am unsure how you are equating getting stacks faster gives you any more overall dps. You would need constant rng of a god to proc reaper’s mark constantly from the 2 exterminates given and you would need it for the entire time before reaper’s mark goes off cd.
When it comes to aoe damage think about the fact that you will likely only have stacks of razorice on one target, maybe 2, while the others in the pack won’t. Even purposely changing targets just for the pure reason of spreading razorice might allow you to get 3 mobs with full stacks before some start dying. If you have a pack of 6 mobs in your aoe zone, and 2-3 are taking 15% more damage from your frost spells compared to even Stoneskin’s 6% strength at all times it starts looking lackluster on overall damage. I would selectively only use razorice for that burst factor if you wanted to play that style in pvp or if you just enjoy that playstyle, power to you

Holy jesus…
… what is that!?
… WHAT THE ╭∩╮ IS THAT!?!?
Why does this have so many modifiers!?!?!?!?
That was not what was said at all. We had to explain to you that exterminate hits =/= casts, and then we had someone get 20 casts of exterminate off 6 casts of reaper’s mark, which is when you do the math a relatively minor 10% luckier than usual.
There was live behaviour that was not modelled in the DK simc module, but none of that has yet to produce an increase
