Defense Unit 1-11 (Awakening the Machine Mount)

Does anyone know how to get this mount? I know it’s from the Awakening the Machine event. Does it come from the Awakened Caches you earn for each wave or does it come from the Awakened Mechanical Cache from the weekly quest? Am I required to beat Wave 20? I keep dying in last 5 waves.

Do I need to beat Wave 20 for it?

Wowhead comments are saying it comes from the largest cache, which is the last one you get for clearing all 20 waves. Which is where I also received it.

How do I survive all 20 waves? I keep dying in the last 5. I’m using an Arcane Mage.

I’ve never done it on a Mage, but you have to prioritize targets.

My priority for targets is:

  1. Casters firing a red beam - just interrupt them to kill them, a stun works as well. Sheep might also work.
  2. Stand in the electric beam and shield self.
  3. Take down the large dude that puts the debuff with the red fire orbs on you.
  4. Take out any bots that are repairing/shielding others.
  5. Kill the stationary target with the electric beam you’re standing in.
  6. Med bots and use those med packs.
  7. Swarmbots are the little ones and completely irrelevant until they’re the last ones standing, as they move so slowly.

Also make sure to drop your Spare Toolbox to get some buffs from that.

Where I die the most is in the last 5 waves. Everything is just ganging up on me and my death is pretty much inevitable.

You can let the NPC tank while you peel off mobs, and med packs don’t despawn right away so you can leave them on the ground until you need them.

Not familiar with arcane, but whatever cc you have should also come in handy.

And once your ilvl gets up a bit you’ll nuke the event regardless.

Just keep doing Machine Event every week, and eventually you’ll receive it.

Are you doing it on this level 71 toon? May just need to hit 80 and gear up a bit.

I’m doing it on a lvl 80 arcane mage.

Yeah, there’s a lot going on in the last five. It just takes some prioritization, CC, interrupts and shields. Use those med bots strategically (remember that they do despawn eventually) and it looks like during those last five, you might be able to let the Speaker take some of that damage from the stationary pylon.

Do you know whats the % drop ?

as prolly with any rare mount maybe 1-5%.

You can check wowhead, but i’m not sure on the exact %

Wowhead has it at 20%.
