I spent S1 frugally leveling professions (1 of each). I’d do the weekly quests, get the treasure kp and did patron orders only if they were cheap. I had everything useful filled out by early S2. Every couple days when my concentration is full, I’ll use cheap mats to make high quality enchants, flasks and refined mats (alloys, codified greenwood, etc) to sell. It takes maybe 20 minutes every 4 days.
I also keep am eye out for WQs where I can double/triple dip. Ex. If there are a bunch of gold giving WQs in Azj-Kahet at the same time as a special assignment and the spider weekly, you can walk away 5k gold in 10 minutes (and 100 coffer keys shards if you delve). I run a couple alts a day through and it adds up.
Last season I paid for my sub with gold, crafted a ton of gear for my and my partner’s alt armies and still had a few mil left over.
I always check if DF dungeons need tank or healer que and give satchel. Then if they do ill run until satchel goes away. Thats a little over 1k gold in about 30 mins, give or take, and so far I havent been kicked for absolutely carrying a group
I sit at the BS table with CraftScan addon on, trying to get any craft/recraft request, tips usually go into 500g - 5000g range, some people tip 20k reset days, when there are not many competitors crafting things too is possible to make 200k - 300k per day.
I hit gold cap last week selling feasts, mana oil and gilded vials. Sitting on about 11.4m gold altogether. Now, I’m taking a break from gold making until next expansion. Lol
I run alts. About 10 per season. I just do delves and world quests. Make about 1mil per season without trying. Add in crafting orders and selling crafted items and I can easily x2-3 that with little effort (buy mats from ah to sell on ah). I’m also no longer raiding/M+/PVP so I’m not spending gold. Group activities are a huge gold sink.
I save my gold for tokens to buy store items or xpacs. I almost have enough already this season for Midnight. I had to have the raven store mounts so I started a little low lol.
At the start of a new xpac I spend a lot of gold getting crafting recipes so I’m one of the few who can craft an item. I make 20k+ per crafted item this way. I also sell heaps on the ah. I made a fortune first season with jeweler’s settings and according to my accounting addon, spent it all on tokens for store items and game time lol.
I’ve made millions farming battle pets. You can use sites like Undermine Exchange to check which realms they sell for more on, etc. Other than that, there are some BoE transmog items from Shadowlands that still sell for a lot. I have a few shoulder appearances that go for 200k to over 1 million gold, sometimes more.
The thing with a lot of gold farms is that it takes patience to sell items on the Auction House – sometimes it takes days, weeks, or even months to unload them.
This is just used to buy other TWW ores. It isn’t used in any recipes. Might be quicker and more profitable to mine the other ores and various reagents you can get from empowered nodes.
I do the world quests that reward 800-1000 gold, if they quick and in a good location I will do those on multiple toons even up to a dozen. I also do any chest events that are quick like Lighting the Flame and the weeklies those usually reward like 1500 but I have gotten as much as 15k I think before it seems to be some weird lotto luck thing. If you do it on multiple alts though usually a couple get the big reward each week.
I am not hitting gold cap or anything but I have managed to pay my sub with tokens and also purchased the epic edition of Midnight already just with gold and I don’t play the AH or sell super rare transmogs.
If you want gold to be “easy”, in the future, just pick up any of the crafting professions for Midnight and actually keep up with it — by far the best and most efficient gold maker for the time spent.
The next best is likely always going to be just gathering. I’ve dumped maybe 5-6 hours into strictly gathering (just came back after leaving retail since the first patch of TWW), with Herbalism/Mining, and they’re both sufficiently leveled that I’m able to make about 10,000g+ an hour farming (and that’s only going to go up and I continue adding KP and upgrade the profession items from green to blue).
This is the answer. Listen to a podcast, watch a show, whatever and just gather. Make a druid alt for even better farming. Even with bots you still make decent gold and its more consistent than most other farms.
In the past, I had a schedule for old raids that I mainly used to get mounts, and the secondary objective was to farm gold. Now that I have all the mounts from the old raids, I no longer farm like that. If I’m just going to farm gold, I don’t think it’s worth it. I prefer to earn gold with the content I’m currently doing and not set aside time to do that, unless I have a very specific objective that involves gold (I don’t, at most I dream of buying items from the shop that I don’t particularly care about having).
Ever since the changes… Making the amount I used to has diminished greatly. So I’ll give you my tips. The best way that I remember is doing boosts… raid and the likes…
Professions may be iffy now but it doesn’t hurt to flesh them out. Don’t forget you have warband bank so you can craft old content stuff… Check undermine exchange and make an alt on that server to grab the item and put it on the ah there.
Cover all bases… Even slow sellers…like pets… See which sell good and that are farmable. You are getting a few thousand for hours of farming from what you wrote on the devour things which is poor return on investment.
It takes some research but once you fire on all cylinders and have a little routine… you can make gold with little effort.
