[Dec 8th] You've been disconnected from the server

Came here to say this, having this problem like so many other people still.

@tyrent which folder?

Local Disk > World of Warcraft > _ Retail _ > Cache

Delete cache and restart the game, see if it works, if it doesn’t there is a link being shared of someone else’s cache folder, you can download that and replace your cache folder and it should work.

Vandril,

I have three PC’s, and two of them would not login. One (primary gaming rig) I tried all the normal, including deleting the cache folder. But…when it rebuilds it, it does so with a corrupt file or something. But…copying the folders from within the Cache folder on my working PC got my other two systems back running. So not a DDOS, but a broken file that thankfully one of my systems had not updated!

Dunno why it had me on my alt. Thanks yall. I’ll try that.

So when I download the Zip file, they are saved only as a Internet Explorer file… O.o Do I need to change that?

You shouldn’t have to, it just means your computer is assigning a program to open that file extension, just copy the folder as is, no need to mess with the extension type.

The Cache file fix has also worked for me. Kudo’s to the people who thought outside the box and made this work. Now I can get a few hours of game time in before I start my work week.

On the contrary, shame on you Blizzard. I find it quite pathetic when a multi million dollar company can’t fix an issue, yet some random genius figures it out hours before… I’ am highly disappointed with Blizzard.

Ah but I assigned it as a explorer file, and how when I download it it auto makes it a Internet Explorer File. How do I undo that?

Life save homie. Thank you

It does sound like the client’s file generation is the problem, where it’s generating a corrupt file as you suggested or maybe even not generating a file at all that it needs. From the fact that the generation works for some users, though, we can see that it’s not a universal problem, or at least not a consistent one. But does that mean everyone having the problem had a fresh, empty cache that was made just today? That seems…unlikely. So there’s probably something more to it.

Blizz claimed an authentication server issue. What interests me now is the thought that maybe there’s authentication server related information stored in the cache files somewhere, which seems a little odd to me.

Well, no matter. With a viable workaround and Blizz looking for a permanent solution, this problem is on its way to being history. I just can’t help but be curious about this sort of stuff.

Same issue here.

Just delete it. Re download the original file from dropbox, save it to downloads, unzip the file in downloads, then delete, or rename the old Cache file in your retail file. Copy and paste the new Cache file into your retail folder and voila! You should be back in the game no problems.

@ Irelgnonu… Well said. Very disappointing in how Blizz-tard doesn’t seem to care that this is our time and money here and they both mean something to me…

Done with this brand.

I tried it for science (hopefully you didn’t hide a virus in there :|) and it worked! I’m in now! Thanks!

Insane how a forum of players determined to play were able to find a way around a problem
