Death Knight Drakthyr?

okay, what did you think of my idea about the evoker to dk scenario?

Evoker to DK? Do you mean Dracthyr DK? Cant happen. There is no Lich King to create more Death Knights. Even if you created a new Death Knight now, it takes place in either Wrath, or between the events of Legion and Shadowlands. There cant be more without a new completely different version of DK like the difference between the 1st gen DK’s and later gen. Blizzard and their poor writers that have since been canned wrote the furthered existence of the DK class out of WoW.

Cant do anything with the Crown of Wills, cant do anything with some tombworld of Death Knight Dracthyr below ICC that Arthas was too stupid to use during the attack on his castle, cant do anything with the Ebon Blade because they dont create Death Knights “but the player raised the 4 horsemen! its clearly possible!” yes because THE LICH KING GAVE US THAT LIMITED POWER TO DO SO.

It all comes back to the Lich King and Death Knights. No Lich King, no more Death Knights that we know now. They would be completely different and only similar in name only as someone else in this thread has pointed out. Looks like there was only 1 person that gave a damn enough to actually do any research on this matter.

No Lich King, no DK’s, its that simple.

assuming you could make DKs, what do you think of my idea?

Also side note: Why can’t Night Elves be Shamans?

I bet Zepla would love it if Night Elves can be Shamans or Paladins.

they are into the wrong recreational substance to be shamans

Wat

I dont know what your idea is nor do I care, but its probably not good assuming my other conversations with you like your “make WoW single player” rant you had that people were agreeing with me on.

DK’s are over thanks to Blizzards crappy fan fiction pushing department that has been canned. Fan fiction should stay out of IP’s and stay on tumblr where they belong. Star Wars, Star Trek, what they are doing with Tolkien with the Rings of Power, Dragonage, Warhammer 40k to an extent and many many more are being ruined due to poor writers and fan fiction pushing ideologs.

DK’s are done. Get over it.

In game universe, I don’t think there’s anything actually stopping them and we’ve seen night elf Shaman’s in dragonflight.

Actual reason why not, they require extra art assets that blizzard hasn’t made yet. Feel like they’re expanding the race/class combos to where every species can be near any class, but so far they’ve only moved forward on the classes that don’t have unique art assets. Sharmans, along with paladins and druids, would need more work.

I feel though that they could do the same thing with them that they have with warlock daemons and put them in the barbershop so you can choose from the assets they already have rather than inventing new ones.

Oh come on, what a load of excuses from a company that probably made a metric :poop:-ton of money off of the Brutosaur.

Clearly they can make a decent art for the Kaldorei Shamans, Paladins, Drakthyr DK or god-forbid Mechagnome Druids.

Right?

They should be able to do it without too much problem, and I really wish they would.

The bureaucracy of getting things done in a company that big and all the hands that something would need to pass through to get green lit is pretty big, and that is just allowing people to work on these things like Night Elf totems, different race mounts for paladins or anything else and then the results have to be approved that doesnt even mention the time that would have to go into all of this.

They also have to weigh the cost of the time investment compared to what they would make as a result. 4 people resubbing for Dracthyr Death Knights isnt good enough.

I know California and Hollywood has been throwing millions upon millions if not billions down the drain, but that isnt a good thing. TWW hasnt been good enough for Blizzard to just go the cosmetic route for things. Even the 20th anniversary launch was rough. Level 70’s have an easier time with the combat in these things like Chromie and the timewalking raid or at least they were because of some wonky scaling.

It’s a question of timelines, to be fair. Certain classes have unique animations and stances that need to be modeled, and unique forms/mounts/totems to evaluate per race in terms of design.

A lot of it is just a question of time, which is why as the other person pointed out the more normalized classes get brought to all races first. I imagine Druid is a special kind of headache for Blizzard due to unique racial forms + potentially adding recolors to existing Legion forms for other races.

Can’t create an DK out of something that was never alive

You assume I think Undead using Light Magic or Nature magic are things I feel are NOT from a narrative perspective, poor, because I think they are. I think that race / class restrictions are ok, they make the world feel like it has rules that matter and narratives that have weight about our race / class choices. That makes the world feel rich and those distinctions have values. It makes established lore, outside of weird loopholes, feel strong instead of flippant.

Bolvar not having the Helm of Domination and still capable of creating Deathknights doesn’t sit well with me. I never liked that change, its one of the narrative elements that I hated about Shadowlands. It was fine that Arthas created DKs were more vicious and more malicious, and that Bolvar’s weren’t, fine, I can accept that because there was some somewhat flimsy narrative justification, personally I think it shouldn’t have changed because The Lich King wasn’t JUST Arthas. The recruiter makes no indication that Bolvar ISN’T required despite more DKs being made, because you can see new race DKs ARE created by Bolvar and old race ones still fall in line with Arthas making them, so you’re wrong. It makes NO narrative sense for Dracthyr to be remade into DK’s. There’s ZERO cross over interaction between this new race and Acherus and Bolvar… so there’s that. And I don’t think you deserve the right to wear that mantle, and that’s my personal take. I still don’t think Gnomes should be Dks because I think it’s dumb and a waste, yet they exist, but at least they’re narratively plausible.

Yeah it’s fiction, technically, plausibility can be argued to be tenuous at best, but believability in a narrative is earned through the worlds established rules and events. You can’t just chuck stuff out because reasons and expect your story to hold any interest or weight. I’ll die on that hill.

When writing a story, a good story, if you make a rule then you have to stick with that rule. If in your universe you created where 1+7=5 then that has to stay true. The LK created the 2nd-4th generation of DK’s, no more lich king, no more death knights.

Its the same with Void Elves, technically there are no new void elves being created in the story. The event happened. Unless there are more events like that, then there are just a limited number of them and they are relatively few in number.

Is this mindset that things can just be changed whenever the reason why these TV shows and movies just suck and they dont actually fit into the universe they are trying to force them in. The Rings of Power is a perfect example that lore shouldnt be retconned because it just destroys everything.

@Kelliste, I have you on ignore, child. I can’t see your pointless and worthless response. Stop trying.

Yeah, it’s about time investment VS cost and ROI. The Blizzard team has teams working on different things, each team within the production schedule has allowances for things and for those things there’s a specific monetary value applied to their bandwidth to execute on. If it’s not within scope, then it’s not done. Every game I’ve worked on typically falls within this development structure.

Yet another person to report then. Have fun.

Also… stop trying what exactly? I mean if you dont know what I said why even respond? And who are you exactly?

The irony of calling someone a child while running away from what others say. Peak irony.

I keep hearing this “no new DK” nonsense since the Helm of Domination was destroyed. Ok? that doesn’t mean the power to create
DKs are gone (Necromancy) as that power is still very much active in the storyline still. As well as according to the established lore there needs to be an entity to keep that power in check, otherwise Azeroth gets overwhelmed. So Kel Thuzad becomes redeemed in the Maw and returns to Azeroth, reestablishes Scholomance as the new school of Necromancy in this effort and we have a new class and creation of new DK types Earthen/Dracthyr become possible. Everyone wins :+1:t5:

Its not nonsense. And yes the person that is able to create DK’s is gone because its not just necromancy needed to create a DK, its domination magic and even when we raised the 4 horsemen the LK granted us enough power to raise the 4 since he was immobile. We no longer have that power.

The LK didnt keep necromancy in check, he kept The Scourge in check so they didnt run rampant and the Ebon Blade is currently dealing with the uncontrolled scourge.

So its really no new death knights. There isnt the power to create them anymore. As more and more battles are fought and more and more death knights fall there is nothing to replenish their ranks.

The addition of domination magic was a bad idea though. But even with the original lore it was the LK bestowing everything that he was onto the unholy knight, so you still needed a LK to achieve it.
