I’ve noticed a few of the higher ranked Frost DKs running a Death’s Cold Embrace/Frostscythe build in 3s/solo shuffle.
Personally, I like the damage potential of DCE, but with the removal of Abom Limb it’s become a very niche talent for me (i.e., vs. double melee). It would be nice if you could remove the debuff with Wraith Walk or a stolen Freedom with Dark Sim (I’ve tried).
For anyone running this as a main build in arenas, how do you get the damage out consistently with DCE? I can see Deathchill (PvP talent) being kind of a Temu substitute for Abom Limb maybe.
It just sucks when the target gets out of DCE range, and you’re moving slower than a newborn baby still suckling on its mammy’s teet.
in 3s, My dk plays with a DH.
Grip into blind, dnd for slow, pop cds aoe stun ect, At the same time the dh would have their aoe fear already going, after fear they aoe stun.
2s it depends on your healer. But I like having monk, simply for the CC they can with it.

Yeah, once you grip healer in you got at least two of em in dmg radius. Blind usually gets at least a couple secs before it breaks, into AoE stun from DK alone.
I would think at least the kill target or healer would have to be low mobility tho, in case one gets out and you need to swap.
Do you know if they actually use Frostscythe when there’s 2+ in range or if they just take it to unlock the Remorseless buffs?
As someone who liked DCE but can’t be bothered to get into arenas… So take my opinion with a grain of salt… It’s interesting that it is being surprisingly used in higher ranked arenas.
I kind of stopped bothering with it after Frozen Dominion and how out of the way Gathering Storm and Biting Cold nodes are also locked behind Frostscythe (Which I think it’s bad that RW nodes are locked behind it).
Also… isn’t Dracocleave strong also? As in… DK/War/Dev? I don’t know. I don’t have friends that do arenas competitively but I do have questions for the curious soul!
If your team has no roots, I do recommend Deathchill! But who am I to tell you that?

Just to unlock the remorseless talents. You would still want to use obliterate on the kill target.

You can do some disgusting damage with it if you set it up right. I ran it a lot in 3s/solo shuffle before they removed Abom Limb.
If I got the whole enemy team stacked on the opener, I could do more dmg than all 3 of the other DPS combined 
.
But yeah, I was surprised to see it being run at a high level currently especially with the removal of Abom Limb.
Nah, I don’t recommend doing 3s without a healer.
Deathchill would be a good combo with DCE if running the talent that auto casts Remorseless with Pillar of Frost. Grip healer > AoE blind > Breath/PoF/etc. to root everything > AoE stun > silence would be nasty.

This could give me some insight on my VE DK with DCE shenanigans. Huh… I guess I don’t have to preemptively ramp my RW to keep it going.
Are they using Frozen Dominion?

I think Frozen Dominion is a must if running DCE.
One thing that sucks about DCE is it increases PoF cd to 1 min. So it’s harder to line up PoF/DCE with Reaper’s Mark (if running Deathbringer), Strangulate, Breath, and Frostwyrm’s.
