What’s even worse, actually, is when you escape, it’s basically like you can vacation there any time you want like it’s no big deal. I don’t know how any writer can possibly imagine another dimension and get the idea of being “stuck there” wrong.

I agree with this too, but I will say that part’s not a unique sin to Shadowlands in my mind. I thought the same thing in WoD, where they started out with this, “we destroyed the portal, and now we’re stuck here on Draenor, we must find a way to survive on this planet and unify its inhabitants to face the Iron Horde” and 10 minutes later Khadgar’s like, “oh, I opened a portal Orgrimmar / Stormwind in your Garrison, we’ll be getting lots of people coming through from Azeroth and generally just visiting and sitting around your Garrison.”
