Dear Blizzard

My Mage has a staff, when a spell is being cast, they put the staff on their back.

Do we see the problem here?

No swing animation, no spin, nothing? Nothin.

Shadow priest freakin floats and casts flutently with their hands, it looks like they are casting magic, but nooo Mage just Kamehame has every spell, the same way.

Haaaaa, haaaa, haaaaa over and over.

Sword users get to spin, they get animations based on their skills.

There is no reason, animations for Mages should be limited to the spells themselves.

Yeah I don’t understand why blizzard has yet to implement your caster raising their staff to cast an AoE spell or channel spell or something. I get it we cast our spells with our hands but it really needs to be something other than a stat stick.

But then I remember monks been having this issue for a while too lol

All I see is the iconic “you shall not pass!!!” Gandalf scene…but with the staff on his back.

It’s so not the same effect. :slightly_smiling_face:

Mage’s should have a plethora of options for casting moves. Like, use the barbershop or glyphs or SOMETHING to the poor mages!

Dragon Age Inquisition had mages using staffs 12 years ago.

Wish Blizzard would take a page from that.

RIFT came out quite a bit ago. And it had great animations. Staff, wand, off hand, whatever you had.

Somehow the animation in Veilguard is a downgrade from DAI when it comes to staff usage lol.

I love their caster weapon animations!

Yeah I ended up using the sword and orb combo anyways.

why would a mage need to swing their staff? it’s not a melee weapon.

They just want some interaction when it comes to weaving in magic and staffplay, like Dragon Age, Kingdoms of Amalur, and Wolcen has established.

Like WW Monks with their weapons.

The DA staff animations are goofy as hell. I could see some mages twirling and flourishing like that with every shot, but all of them?

I love the way Gandolf uses his staff in Lord of the rings and wish my mage or spellcaster‘s ability Incorporated that somehow. I think that’s what I loved about using a wand the most back in the day.

I have felt like this for eons, as someone who has quite a few mages. A lot of classes need reworks of weapon usage, like monks and a staff, but yep, mages and even warlocks need it bad.
Bug the crap out of me that the staves are always on their back when casting. We should have it held out in from, making circles, spinning, slamming on the ground, holding it with one hand, two hands etc etc. So many options and…nothing.

That said, I do enjoy using only my hands casting things on a couple of my fire mages…but overall, I am bummed the weapons don’t come into play.

To hurl the fireball with it.
