Ddos attacks

The average payout for a basic ransomware attack is now 2.7 MILLION DOLLARS.

This is not playtime funsies for Robux. Real crime pays.

Ah I was unaware of this, my apologies. I still just find it funny that it seems to happen every season/xpac launch

I just looked at one of the many interactive cybersecurity maps to see attacks… OOF

based on what, exactly?

Yeah, it’s nasty. I’ve been reading it while I eat the big salad I made for season opener day.

and just so you know…this is why the cyber security code monkeys make the big bucks.

This isn’t pranking, which is what I see a lot of people assume when they see this stuff in the news. This is huge, global mob-level organized crime. It is extortion on a massive scale.

Trying to stay ahead of it is like…the biggest thing going in modern programming.

Literal armies of very smart, very dedicated people are working on this. You don’t get to sit there in your gaming chair and say, “Well then, why doesn’t the indie gaming company hire better cyber team guys?” It’s just…no. That’s not it.

Seriously. Google it or something.

It’s mostly from people who live in countries that wont extradite to the US.

A multi-billion dollar video game company owned by one of the biggest companies on the planet is a prime target for this kind of stuff.

That’s messed up. Just imagine how much better this world would be if people didn’t do these kinds of things.

Is it that bad? Read on a few other posts that it’s widespread.

Robbery predates the existence of money, so good luck with eliminating that.

“Give me that or I’ll hurt you” predates the existence of humans by a couple geological eras.

there is always a considerable amount of malicious traffic out there worldwide, 24/7/365. the fact that we’re talking about it here says that it’s higher than normal.

Just as long as we don’t have a repeat of WoD going live and a whole week of DDoS and other crap happening…what a mess that was …at least Blizzard gave us 5 free days to our subs back then…

A DDoS is when you go to the DMV and everyone working there denies you any service. Take a number.
