DC'ing since 8.3

Since 8.3 launched, I get DC’d constantly while not actively pushing buttons. I’m fine in raid, M+s or while out doing the emissary. Just as long as I’m actively doing something. Problem is I can’t just sit in my garrison or Boralus and chat with guildies or check out the AH without constantly DC’ing. Happens regardless of whether I’m “afk” or not. I can be in the middle of responding to a whisper and get DC’d. Sometimes I can go an hour without DC’ing and sometimes like this morning I can DC 3 times in under 2 minutes. So here is all of the stuff I saw that you guys request for DC issues:

Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks.

Edit: I just wanted to add that I seem to get DC’d WAY more often when I’m actively chatting with someone via whisper or bnet.

This will hopefully be moved to the Technical Support forum for you in short order.

They’re better equipped to handle connectivity issues over there.

whoops, wrong spot lol. Sorry about that. Thanks!

I’m watching this thread cause it is happening on my main constantly. When I play my alts it doesn’t seem to happen, or extremely far less frequently. Like I notice on one of my alt druids, if I moonfire our of flightform and landing on the ground it’ll DC me sometimes. On my main druid, just like you, I could be sitting in Dazar’alor or Orgrimmar (yes horde side) and just be idle and DC every 2-10 min.

Have you noticed alts not doing it so much or at all?

Yep, doesn’t matter what character I am on. I actually have 2 accounts (one to mostly just sit at the AH) and it happens no matter which character I am on. I’ve tried turning off all of my addons too and that didn’t help. I’ve tried sitting my AH toon in IF, SW, her Garrison, Boralus, middle of Stormsong near a mailbox. Doesn’t matter. I start DC’ing like crazy if I’m not like actively fighting something.

Edit: I should also specify that I can be on both accounts at once and only be DC’ing a lot on one of them. It’s not my internet.

Exact same thing here, 95% of the time I’m not doing content and it’s fine but it happened mid-way through a KR+15 the other week… That was frustrating. Have yet to have it happen in raid though.

It seems to me that it happens pretty much with the guild window open.

Captnubcakes, the connection tests provided all look fairly stable. Thanks for including them! Was this ran while the disconnections occurred?

That’s a good call out, Tôidi! There is a known issue related to the guild screen. Our team is looking into this issue. We’ve been able to reproduce the issue on our end, and the disconnections are not immediately after opening the guild window, but rather much later on that the correlations a bit difficult to track. It seems to happen more often with high ranks in larger guilds. Here’s the main thread where we were tracking the issue.

Does this seem to fit the situation for those running into disconnection issues? If you’re not sure, could you try a game session without opening the guild window to test?

I am an Officer in our guild and it does tend to happen more when I’m chatting in the guild/community window, so that makes sense. I did have those the tests I included running when I disconnected. They were all running the IP address included on the forums for central NA.

Awesome! Thank you for the details, Captnubcakes! I’ve added this over to our tracking.

Our team is aware and looking into this issue. The workarounds so far are not ideal by any means though. So far we’ve only found that not opening the guild window or demoting to a lower rank seems to help alleviate this issue.

If there are any workarounds that are better or more ideal for this issue, I’ll provide them here

Thanks, I hope it gets sorted out. One of the only reasons I login most days is to socialize, not do the daily stuff. It’s made it frustrating to do so. If there are any other tests I can run to provide results that can help out with solving the issue, don’t hesitate to ask! I would love to not to have to fight the DC boss every few minutes lol
