I take them because i tend to forget to use utility when the adrenaline kicks in and even with buffed healing it only buys me seconds and not because any impressive damage just because i took some damage over a fight and its on CD and im not recovering like i used to while i fight. At this point we need a attack that heals or a second wind like skill that heals us fast out of combat or we avoid damage for 5 sec but maybe slow trickle heals us in combat like reduced potency of the effect.
I hope we get a few things done like ret got soon. I donāt want to be buffed to the moon, but we need a little extra to help us survive in PvE and PvP.
The core of the issue is how bad our trees are in the first place. Having all the defensive stuff on the right and BM needing to go bottom left in the class tree is a slap in the face. BM only taking 1 capstone in AE because there are 2(!) 3 points nodes in the tree is a joke. There are currently 9 or 10 never pick nodes in the BM tree mixed among the 8 2pt nodes. BM currently gives up around 10%-15% of itās single target damage to be able to do the worst AE damage of any spec. What does fury lose? Or ret, rogues, druids, etc? And if it was just BM then whatever but MM and Surv both have similar problems.
Weāre a pure DPS class that doesnāt bring anything unique to the table and doesnāt bring the damage unless you have the bow. Once you do get the ultra rare RNG bow then you bring boss damage for the raid, if you play BM.
We need a new hunter dev because thereās no other class that has to spend 4 talent points to get a 20% DR on a 2m CD. They butchered BM self sustain while leaving warriors, warlocks, and now expanding retās. Giving us 8% more HP doesnāt cut it, we need a redesign, like I said during beta. Too many 2 point nodes, too many 3 points nodes, and too many DoA nodes across all 4 trees.
On the beta thread I had a running count of how many days Blizzard had been ignoring our requests for survivability and unique raid utility. Here we are, 3 months in and nothingās changed, ignored as is Blizzardās standard operating procedure.
All it takes is for them to say they know they missed the mark and they are working on it for 10.1. Iām not going to hold my breath though.

Seems to me whenever I posted in beta about node costs and slashing several to 1 point, you would come along and justify most of those multi-point node costs.
Do concur we need a new hunter dev.
Further (not you) the majority of folks in beta were on about stupid things like being able to tame dragonkin or cosmetics (like Bola graphics) . Basically inane things that did NOTHING to improve hunters but certainly got addressed.

my contemplation is why is it normal for melee to have a attack that heals but not survival hunter hmmmm devs should really consider that

Part 1 : How to buff health sustain/staying alive :
- the mastery could be buffed for more passive regen
- we could have a passive like priest focused will (taking less dmg is the best sustain) => the life in nature, against the raging wild & weather has make you skin quite thick (5-10% less dmg taken)
- against bleed/dots/etc., Craven Stratagem should return (instead of survival tactics if itās pvp only)
- Or Mending bandage could be spec based and fully cleanses you
- Exhilaration should go from 2 min to 1 min 30
- And then the talent Natural mending could go from Every 25/12 Focus you spend reduces the remaining cooldown on Exhilaration by 1.0 sec. to => 20/10 Focus ⦠by 1.0/1.5 sec
- Survival of the fittest should go down to 1min30 to be more in line with other melee classes
- Or born to be wild should give way better cd reduction
- Aspect of the turtle should be usable while stunned/no gcd (like pal divine shield, mage iceblock)
- Also a talent could be added to reset turtle by a few sec each time we spend focus (or any other logical action)
- Giving more parry based on agility (and bring back counterattack)
Part 2 : Pet staying alive
The pet is a big part of our kit, lot of spells depends on pet being alive and in range.
Pets could be buffed to have 100% of hunter hp (instead of 75%). According to lore and quests, Misha is weak (all quests are about saving her) but she never died (so quite sturdy), my pet is nowhere near that.
Real problem is cleave =/= aoe and pets only have 80% dmg reduction to aoe (with avoidance passive) but nothing for others dmg.
Part 3 : Utility and unique trait
Only survival should have camouflage.
I mean, survival is all about guerilla, hit & run, thatās the sneaky one, other just go pew pew or unleash horde of beast.
That could open a talent slot for sustain purpose in class tree and put some choices in spec tree.
In terms of utility, there are complains about SV bringing nothing.
We could have something like : āYour knowledge of hunting allows you to identify your targetās weak points. Inflicting enough damage make them more visible to other playersā
(Imagine a skilled hunter spotting a method on how to break a dragon scale and enable player to inflict wound when they could pierce the scale before, this kind of technique/flavor/lore)
What could it be : after inflicting a fixed number of crit with raptor/mongoose, debuff the target for x sec giving +3% crit on target.
(itās not too much but not bad, synergize with every classes, require you to have some crit, the number of crit could be adjust to have an acceptable uptime, if raid want more uptime, brind more SV hunts )
A lot of things for dev/beta players to try, but some ideas could be good
Camo being only for survival is bad. Pets do need a buff to health, damage reduction, something. Too much depends on their being alive and in range and in PvP they die quite easily forcing you to kite or turtle to get off the long rez cast. I like the idea of a flat reduction to the cooldown time on our defensives -which we absolutely need.
Please donāt take things away from us, such as camo. I am tired of losing things like SV range. We need some survival buffs and better choices in our talent tree. A raid wide buff would be great.
Just ran a +19 AA. Vexmus ⦠to say Iām frustrated is an understatement. Iām now feel like a liability for my team rather than an asset. Hunter survivability needs more than a 8% health increase. So many quick wins possible, but we basically get nothing short term.
I would like to have two charges of [Survival of the Fittest]
Turtle is more of our mechanics breaker, but a damage reduction CD would be balanced IMO.
Rather than more cool-downs Iām really hoping for some damage reduction or healing.
Something so that my hunter doesnāt just melt in pvp from a dot or two or little bits of damage that other classes just shrug off.
It feels like every class has some solid form of self-healing except for hunter.
