Daily rare mounts while in a raid group

I just listed a group to kill Warbringer Mal’korak (going after his mount oc) and when several people showed up and I made it a raid, one of them got very upset and whispered me that I ruined the run because daily rares don’t drop loot while in a raid.
Later during the exchange he restated it to “don’t drop mounts while in a raid group”.
I have not find such info on the Internet, so here I ask: is that true? or just superstition caused by the RNG god?

As long as it doesn’t get greyed out you should be fine. You just might not get much because, you know, rng.

Rares can drop mounts for raids. They don’t prevent it. I remember in past expansions at least entire raid armies would form for those world rares that dropped mounts. It was always a large community thing and never limited. I don’t think Blizz changed it.

I don’t recall Mal’korak specifically if my group was a raid or not when I got the mount, but I can confirm that I recently got the mount from Famu and it was a raid.

There’s never been a stipulation to world rares’ loot and raid groups before, and I can’t even imagine a reason for such a stipulation now. Korthia raid groups would certainly have been less popular. I’d bank on silly superstition, and/or someone got trolled and took it seriously. I’m almost willing to bet someone said that because they didn’t want to wait for more people at a rare one day.
