Curseforge standalone installer

I just became aware that CurseForge has a standalone installer that doesn’t require Overwolf. I want to switch to the standalone. If I delete Curseforge/Overwolf, then install the Curseforge standalone, will I have to reinstall all my addons? I currently have 80 addons and it would be a PIA to reinstall them all let alone adjust all the settings again.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have no advice…but 80 addons?! Holy cow. I can’t even imagine what I would need 80 addons to do.

I think I use 11 or 12.

Unlikely, addons are within your WoW folder. So just install the standalone bit and let it do its thing.

That’s a ton of addons I only use 7 or 8.

I decided to just go for it. And… IT WORKED! CurseForge successfully detected all installed addons. No more Overwolf! Yay!

I use about 60-65 add-ons. You’d be surprised how bad the base UI is even after the overhaul.

OP: You should be using wowup.

what was the purpose of this change? Overwolf never gave me any trouble.

Never heard of wowup, but I’ll take a look right now. Thanks for the suggestion.

Makes sure you get the correct version. The version you want is the curseforge version. Not the regular version.

Thanks for the recommendation. I installed wowup and immediately like it. Also, NO ADS!

Six mods were not detected correctly, but that wasn’t a problem. I simply reinstalled them. Everything is working great.

Thanks again!

The curseforge version does have ads as per the curseforge forced API terms they implemented a while back. You may have downloaded the incorrect version if you want your addons to come from curseforge. Otherwise the regular version doesn’t use curseforge at all. It uses alternative addon websites.

Yeah, just figured that out. Google Gemini said it had no ads. I got excited. But, soon saw that it does have ads with the CurseForge version. It’s okay though. I overall like it so far.

I didn’t know about this thank you. What link did you use to install the standalone?

I went to the CurseForge website and clicked ‘Get CurseForge App’. You’ll be offered two download options. One for the bloatware version and one for the standalone version.

Take a look at WowUp though. I took the advice from Trustlvlfour and switched to WowUp last night.

But…why?

I thought the six I was running was overkill.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it!

Do you use the Wago or Curseforge WoWUp?

I downloaded the CurseForge version of WowUp. It’s working great and it was able to detect all my addons

Be careful! I just did this and WowUp is ignoring some addons! I’m currently looking for an answer/solution to this issue.
