Current Tank DPS Sims -- Its not even close

Based on using the top US players for each spec (and had logged out in appropriate talents and gear) Raidbot sims were run for each spec using the same criteria and sim settings. You may attempt this for yourself if you’d like.

These numbers are further supported by the trickling of data coming in from Warcraftlogs and Archon.gg

In AOE, the divide between top DPS tank and lowest DPS tank is 111.51%.
In Single Target, the divide between top DPS tank and lowest DPS tank is 60.52%

Can we please do something about tank balance?

Man that prot warrior damage gap is huuuuge

Also I’ll never do that much single target cuz then I gotta play sanlayn and I’m too lazy to maintain 3 sets of gear

I think Prot got the Arms colossus buffs – Though the revenge damage on the sims was by far the largest.

110% spread?

C’mon Blizz, you can do better than that, let’s see 200%

I would definitely expect them to nerf prot warrior damage. Whether or not they’ll buff brewmaster damage, however…

Oof, brew can’t even do anything right.

they really hate brew.
it’s not even a meme anymore it’s just true lol

What the difference for the blood hero specs? Deathbringer is considered the better spec for tanking but I think the damage is lower isn’t it?

Yeah I love BrewM, but they haven’t gotten any love in such a long time. I’ll probably play VDH this season.

I want to note that the Brewmaster profile I used for the sims, Duckle, is running an M+ build (Takes Ox Stance, no nizuao or 2/2 high tolerance) that is not going to as strong on ST as the raid build (Roughly 3-5% lower due to not taking Nizuao and Call to Arms) but they are still the lowest ST/Raid tank in the game according to Archon.gg and Warcraftlogs rankings

Blizz’s likely reaction? /nerfs Brewmaster

That’s great if the Pwarrior never has to spend any rage on anything that’s not revenge.

Okay I played every single tank s1, and I will say that as long as you have a basic understanding of monk they are probably the easiest tank to play and stay alive on. It’s pretty autopilot in terms of staying alive on tank busters whereas other tanks will need to worry about having a defensive up.

So I feel like the lower damage output is a tradeoff.

I mean, thats also true for most tank classes in a sim environment? If the prot paladin doesnt have to Word of Glory, Brewmaster doesn’t have to Vivify/Celestial Brew, Guardian Druid doesn’t have to Iron Fur, BDK doesn’t have to marrowrend etc etc its going to affect their numbers.

Maybe its just me but I feel that pure DPS numbers shouldnʻt be the metric we measure tanking classes by

This is not a great comparison because the warrior having to spend resources to stay alive rather than do damage is not the same as BrewM losing a global to brews to stay alive.

Sure. But defensively they’re all about the same, with Brewmaster being slightly lower in M+ and slightly higher in raid.

It matters when M+ meta is decided by which tank does the big damage numbers, and it matters in raid when you have threat issues because your tanks are a Brewmaster and a Prot Warrior and a Prot Warrior has to stop pressing their buttons to not rip threat off at the wrong time.

Yes, which is why tank sims are inherently unrealistic (even assuming they have equal levels of support in the APLs).

Lower damage tradeoff would be like 10-15% at most. Brewmasters aren’t even CLOSE.

Also, if you have ever played prot warrior, its virtually the same as brewmaster for tank busters, but significantly better. You always have ignore pain and shield block up.

:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Blizz’s response is rarely what people are expecting. Like earlier in S1 when people complained about Frost DK’s doing big damage, what did Blizz do? They nerfed Blood DK’s. When people complained about Prot Pallies being over represented what did they do? They nerfed Prot Warrior rage generation.

People should be careful what they ask for is all I’m saying.
