Current maintenance has been extended until 9:00

Anyone else surprised that after 25 years, they continue to over promise and under deliver?

The longer they take to fix these bugs, the better. The game has been full of bugs since this expansion launched.

Fixing bugs does not affect how long an update takes. Do you think the programmers are in, trying to fix bugs on the fly and finding new ones as they go?

If you are still surprised by regular maintenance the problem is you, not blizz.

I’m not sure why you would even post this. Nobody is surprised that there is maintenance or an update.

Nope but in the bigger picture of things a video game maintenance isnt a tragedy.
Joann Fabrics shutting down its stores is a much bigger tragedy :face_exhaling:

Well I’m not surprised that computers are fickle, and sometimes things go wrong with them. That’s IT for you.

Then why do some maintenance periods take longer than others? What do they specifically do during them?

Fix bugs? Lol

I’ll admit I don’t know what exactly the Blizzard interns are doing when they take down servers, but Blizzard doesn’t exactly have a stellar track record of fixing very visible bugs that have been around for a while, never mind the new bugs.

Nor do they really document (publicly anyway) what is being done when they do their impromptu maintenance sessions.

Forgive me for being a little skeptical of Blizzard’s methodology. But yes, the maintenance downtime is a necessary and (usually) expected thing.

Where did you get 25 years from? I thought this game was a little over 20 years old?

Day drinking

Still running on the old Activision servers last I knew and on Windows Server. So not surprised at all. The day Microsoft actually runs it on a Azure server you will notice the difference in maintenance times.

WoW generates $7.5 billion in annual revenue, and their systems are well-maintained and fully up to date.

Surprised? No. Disappointed? Sure, I hadn’t planned to do any REAL pve until later in the day. I hope they fix it soon.

i have noticed that after 25 years people still complain about it.

WoW has been “full of bugs” for 25 years and counting. I bet some low-impact vanilla bugs are still lurking around today.

Can we get DOGE to head over to Microsoft? Probably WAY too much red tape to fire the person that doesn’t know how to estimate downtime.

I’m shocked. I’m going to unsub. I think everyone else should too.

That’ll fix them!!!

Now that is a good laugh. Cause if it was true they would have never shutdown the EST and MNT server datacenters.
