Cult of the Black Scales [IC]

[quote] "Alright you jerks,if anybody's going to get keelhauled it's going to be you!"

The young feminine battlecry caught his attention as his runeblade ripped through the hapless pirate. Acting more on instinct, he began to work his way towards the voice, intent on defending its owner in the onslaught.

A blur of motion in the corner of his eye delayed his plans. Morician methodically stepped to the side, bringing his runeblade around to bear on the sabercat--the motion smooth and polished from experience. Hopefully, the action would catch his assailant by surprise, though it was unlikely. At least it was focused on him and not the others, for now.
Kersia blasted another pirate as he charged forward, but his axe spun into the air towards her. Kersia managed to create a shield of mana, but her haste prevented it from fully maturing. The axe cut into her upper arm; the mana shield preventing much beyond a superficial slice. More pirates surrounded her and Tandrina. Kersia stepped closer to the young elf.

"Try to remain focused, young one. They may outnumber us, but they are weak." Kersia smirked as she sent a barrage of arcane energy into the pirates.

Vynianyx's feline features formed an awkward grin as Torin joined her. She continued to push towards the edge of the ship, her goal to take the fight to the pirate's own vessel. After killing the pirate nearest her, she shifted back into an elf.

"We need to get across and take care of the captain." Vyn pointed at a fancy dressed male pirate manning the helm of the pirate ship. "Can you make a bridge?" She shifted back into her feline form as another pirate charged at her from behind.

Var'lai tried to roll out of the way of the death knight's blade, but his trajectory was a little sloppy. He roared as the blade caught his shoulder, blood and fur sprinkling onto the deck. He jumped a few paces away from the night and snarled. The man was in plated armor, surely Var'lai assumed his speed would be slower. Var'lai smirked and darted again, hoping to out speed the night. However, Var'lai was over confident and smug. Among the crew, of course he was the fastest, but he did not comprehend how he compared to those on shore.

Stormweather watched the battle from the crow's nest of the pirate's ship, her decoy manning the helm. She smirked as her numbers seemed to overwhelm the traders. Her eyes followed the movements of the druidess and the blind man, hoping they fell into her territory. Stormweather had personal business with the pair and wanted no interruptions.

The various pirates continued their assault. They lunged with daggers, swiped with sabers, shot with their blunderbusses. A group of three rushed the lone female elf with the sword. "Hey cutie, aren't you a little too fragile to handle such a weapon?" One of the men snickered as he charged.

A handful worked their way towards the draenei shaman. She found herself inching closer and closer to the dwarf that had asked for earth as she tried to defend herself. She needed time to stand still and focus to summon the electrical fury of the wind, or the burning passion of fire; but the pirates were not allowing her the moment to cast.

Another sect of pirates charged at the human gunman. "You'll pay for killing Tor!" one shouted as he ran towards the gunman.
- Draconyxion -

Draco smiled as he parried another of the pirate with his dagger. While it would have likely been quite frowned upon by the shaman if he'd managed to use the whole elemental she had summoned, the Dwarf was content with what was offered. At least he thinks it was. He still had a hard time understanding her as her accent was even thicker than Sir Bowen's own. Either way there was now a small supply of what he needed at hand if only he could get to it.

The Dwarf moved around his group of pirates as he positioned himself between them and his pile of dirt. Then just as quickly he changed his stance to a retreating defensive one. Allowing the Pirate's blows to stagger him backwards. The group appeared to have the upper hand on this wee Dwarf and with the rally of their Captain they forced a strong offensive. Draco knew he only had to hold out a bit longer before he could unleash his full fury on these invaders.

Draco was splitting his focus between parrying the Pirate's blades and his salvation; the pile of dirt and stone provided by the shaman. The closer he got the more it started to react to his will. At first it was only the slightest of movements, barely noticeable under the fighting going on, on the deck. As the Dwarf grew closer the stones started to rock back and forth. Being pulled by the rocking of the ship along with Draco's own will.

A few more steps and he would have it. One of the Pirates spoke up, seeing the dwarf cower and contently in retreat. "What's the mater dwarf, all out of steam? You cut down several of my buddies but can't even strike back at one of us now." The Pirates' grins grew wide at their perceived victory. Little did they know that is game of cat and mouse was soon to be over.

One last step and Draco's boot landed in the pile along with his knee as one of the pirates forced him to the deck. Draco could feel a surge of power flow into him as his connection to the earth of Azeroth though small was restored. The time was nigh as the small patch of earth reacted violently to the Dwarf's will. The stones shattering into fine dust as they flew into the air and attacked his assailants.

"Cheap trick Dwarf, but throwing dirt into my mates eyes to try and blind them wont save you." the leader of the bunch exclaimed as he moved in for the kill as his shipmates backed off trying to clear the dust from their faces.

Draco smirked under his long beard. It was slight at first but the grin grew ever larger and perhaps even a little more sinister as his darker desires started to boil to the surface. No, no he had no intent of 'trying' to blind them. Instead he was going to steal their sight completely. Bringing his hand up he didn't bother to parry his opponent's blade; no he stopped it dead it its tracks as he looked into the eyes of his opponent and rose to his feet.

Gripping the Pirates wrist and nearly crushing the bone causing him to loose strength in his weapon hand, Draco forced him to his knees with relative ease. Looking once more into the lad's eyes Draco's own shown not with the Dwarven eyes of his guise, but the molten fire of his heritage. Fire burned from his sockets like hot coals within a forge. At the same time his prey could hear anguished cries from his mates as blood shot from their own sockets as their eyes were crushed by the debris within them.

Draco was not done tormenting his assailant as he took his free hand and placed it on the pirate's unprotected chest. He could feel the human's heart beat quicken under his touch. The Pirate tried to remove the dwarf's hand only to have his own burned for his efforts. Draco's hand slowly heated up as he put pressure on the human's chest. Never loosing his gaze with the pirate's own that quickly change from one of pure aggression to that of total fear.

The Dwarf's gauntleted hand began to change into a more reptilian one as shards of dirt and earth circled his wrist. The claws of which heated up and glowed like hot pokers. "What is the matter human? Your bravery seems to have wavered considerably in the last few moments of your life. Perhaps seeing your shipmates have their very eyes bleed out of their sockets? or maybe it is the searing pain in your own chest. Yes, I can feel your heart beating faster. Your breath shallow as your lungs try to keep up."

Draco's expression matched if not exceeded that of the ruthless pirates. Right now he was simply toying with the boy but all games must eventually end as there were others that needed his attention. Slowly an maliciously he pressed his claws into the pirate's chest. slowly... one... then two... three; until they each boar holes into his soft flesh, reaching for his heart. every inch brought excruciating pain while also cauterizing the wound keeping him alive.
(1/2)
Every second felt like an eternity as he could feel the Dwarf--no not a dwarf, something else--a Demon Monster inch further into his chest. Oh how he longed for it to end, how he longed for death at this moment and it couldn't come soon enough. Looking down briefly he saw the hand buried deep into his own chest, feeling almost disconnected from the sight and not believing it could be his own if not for the pain it brought onto him. The heat, like being slowly roasted alive from the inside out. What evil this creature must possess to prolong this torment and not let him succumb to it.

Looking back into the Dwarf's eyes as his heart raced above 300 beats per second he could feel himself going into cardiac arrest. Something reflected within the glowing orbs, something dark, something evil, something brought on by nightmares. As the Claw within his own chest gripped around his beating heart the life faded from his eyes. Finally death consumed him...

Draco could feel the human's insides burn away as he reached for his goal. wrapping his clawed hand around the humans heart he turned the organ to ash within his grip finally killing him. Draco saw the look in his eyes go into an entirely different level of fear. A look that would be forever stained in his corps as the dwarf boar the rest of the way through his chest leaving a gapping hole.

Draco dropped the defiled corps on the deck and looked for a new target.

A group of three rushed the lone female elf with the sword. "Hey cutie, aren't you a little too fragile to handle such a weapon?" One of the men snickered as he charged.

Kora smiled sweetly before putting on her most seductive voice, “Oh, Mr. Pirate you wouldn’t hurt a fragile thing like me would you?” She saunters over to the man who had spoken and runs her hand down his chest, “Such a strong man, you would take care of little old me wouldn’t you?”

The pirate smiled lewdly, “O’ course lass, why don’t you come here and give your big strong pirate a kiss… and maybe a little more.” The other two pirates joined their comrade in chuckling lewdly at the disguised dragon.

Kora leaned in close, the pirate closing his eyes and puckering his lips, Kora smiled before pecking him on the lips, afterwards the man began to scream in agony as fires erupted in his stomach and intestines. Kora casually pulled back and conjured some lipstick and began to apply it to her lips as the other two pirates watched in horror as their comrade was consumed by flames from the inside out. Kora finished applying the lipstick as the man crumbled to ash, she looked at the other two with a smile, “Do you boys want a kiss too?”

The two men roared in outrage and charged, a flaming shield materialized on her arm allowing her to block the man on the right’s attack, and spin with the blow sending the man careening into his comrade. The two men reorganized themselves and attacked in unison, but the woman was extremely fast and agile, thanks to a spell she had enacted under her breath. The spell increased her speed and agility allowing her to easily dodge and parry the two men’s less than admirable teamwork. She leapt deftly over one pirate’s sweeping leg and parried the other’s strike in midair with her sword. She flipped over the two men, fire trailing from her sword and shield, lighting their clothes on fire and singing their skin.

She smiled at them, “It seems the only fragile things here are the two of you, so tell me where is your boss? I have a lot to do so I would much prefer to end this quickly.” The two men growled and charged causing Kora to sigh in exasperation. She lashed out at the right hand pirate with her shield, flames erupting as his sword struck the shield and burning his eyes. The man fell away screaming and clutching his eyes, leaving Kora one on one with the other. The man came in with a thrust at her midsection which she easily blocked with her shield, only to be hit in the face with the man’s fist. The man grinned as Kora stumbled back and felt her lip, her fingers coming back bloody.

Flames erupted around the woman as she glared at the man, her eyes causing the man to backpedal in fear. Her serpentine eyes blazed in anger as she slowly stalked forward, “Didn’t you mother ever teach you it is impolite to hit a lady?” The man continued to backpedal until his back hit the ship’s railing, he looked behind him at the water, debating whether to jump, but when he looked back at the elven woman all he saw was a dragon maw made of flame coming to consume him.

Kora dusted herself off and cast a minor healing spell to fix her lip, “Serves you right for marring my face.” She walked over to the other man and easily lifted him off the deck, “Now, where is your boss?”
As Tandrina cast another frost fire bolt her enemy's way, she had noticed someone come her direction though it wasn't a pirate but a male human death knight. She then saw him suddenly become preoccupied with a different enemy causing her focus to return to a small group of Pirates who were charging at her.

Tandrina quickly blinked out of the way as a cutlass had slightly grazed her cheek causing her to form a frost bolt in her hands firing it to one of her four attackers. "Keep attacking at the lass so she can't keep firing those spells at us!" She huffed under her breath knowing they were right seeing the remaining three of the group she was fighting relentlessly attacking at her leaving her only able to dodge and blink.

She heard one of them laugh as she blinked into a wall "looks like you're surrounded lass,it doesn't look good for ye backed into a corner like that."

The glow of the runes strengthened as the blade cut through the cat's shoulder, gnawing at the life force for a brief moment. Morician rolled his shoulders slightly as he settled down into a defensive stance, invigorated by the influx of power from wound dealt and his previous kill. Unperturbed, he stared coldly at the saber, studying the cat's movements as he debated how to best take down the opponent. He moved in time with the saber's strikes, letting the attacks he did not parry with his blade glance off of his heavy armor. Just let it wear itself out, then move in for the kill...and keep your footin'. Don't waste energy if you don't have to.

She heard one of them laugh as she blinked into a wall "looks like you're surrounded lass,it doesn't look good for ye backed into a corner like that."

The sound of raucous laughter caught his attention for a brief moment. A quick glance over towards the elf revealed that the young mage was in trouble, or so it seemed. Morician growled, tightening his grip on his runeblade and glaring at the saber. "Is this the best you idiots could come up with? An overgrown housecat?!" he bellowed, taunting the saber with the hope of keeping it distracted as he began to tap the power of his runes. Concentrating on the planking directly underneath the saber, Morician attempted to summon shadowy tendrils to grab and pull the other pirates away from the mages--hopefully onto the saber, if all went well.
Vyn jumped to the side as a pirate charged from behind her. As he passed her, she clawed down his back with her nails. He howled in pain and did not react in time to Vyn's headbutt. He fell down between the two ships, his bones cracking as he hit the sides, and finally a splash as he reached the water.

Vyn jumped onto the vines Torin created and made her way onto the pirate's ship. The belly of the enemy, just as guarded as one would expect. Several pirates charged at her, and she darted and weaved through them. She took swipes at any she came close enough to as she made her way towards the helm.

-----

“Now, where is your boss?”

The man smirked, looking the elven woman over as she lifted him. "I always liked me a strong ma'am." He clicked the heels of his boots together, triggering a switchblade within the right boot. It sprung under his toes and he took a swipe at the elf with his leg. "But you'll never get me cap'ain!"

"Looks like you're surrounded lass, it doesn't look good for ye backed into a corner like that."

Kersia's focus snapped forward as she realized Tandrina had blinked away from her side. She looked towards where she heard the pirate and spotted Tandrina against a wall.

"Is this the best you idiots could come up with? An overgrown housecat?!"

The pandaren then saw the death knight Morician near by. Her eyes focused on the ebb of magic in the area. Tendrils of faint shadow magic had worked their way through the planks... Kersia realized what he intended to do. She blinked forward herself, preparing a large blast of frozen energy to hit where the saber cat crouched.

Var'lai roared at the death knight's taunt and darted forward. He barely missed getting smushed by his pirate brethren as they were caught in Morician's spell and flung to where he had been. Var'lai stopped his charge and spun to see the pile of pirates. Kersia unleashed a spell of ice, freezing the pirates together so they could not move. Tendrils of the frozen magic latched onto Var'lai, and rooted him in place.

"Morician, Tandrina, attack him now!" Kersia called as she continued to channel her spell. Var'lai roared in protest as he fought against the ice.

Sylstyx had moved closer to Draco, hoping to continue to aide him. She summoned the elementals of earth to create a protective shield around the dwarf, and asked the water to watch over his wounds. As she prayed, she failed to notice the pirates' growing attention on the dwarf. More approached their location on the deck. One charged forward, right towards the shaman herself. She did not move in time, and found herself hitting the deck with a loud clang.
The battlefield was ablaze with action it seemed. Pirates and these..strangers he happened to just meet were locked in warfare. People were shouting something, but he didn't quite pay attention to those. Instead there were a few more pirates nearby.

Taking aim he shot at them both. It would've been really useful had the second shot not missed and was now lodged in a crate on the top deck. The other pirate came rushing towards him, sword drawn at the ready.

Richard holstered his gun and rubbed his hands together. Heat built up inside his hands and soon a blast of flaming magic rushed out towards the unsuspecting pirate. It lit him on fire and he rushed off the deck in a panic, landing in the salty sea-water below.

Kora caught the man’s foot, the blade burying itself in her hand. She growled as her eyes blazed in fury, “I would have thought you would have learned from your comrade’s mistake. All you had to do was tell me what I wanted to know and you would have survived.” Kora’s eyes betrayed her reptilian nature as she glared at the man. Not much could rattle Kora’s anger, she tended to be rather calm in the face of most things, but one thing that did cause her rage to boil over was someone marring her beautiful skin. Sure she could heal the wounds so they left no scars, but it was the principle of the matter.

The hand holding his foot began to blaze with flame, “You are not worthy to even look at me let alone touch or harm me…” Her voice was low and threatening as the fire from her hand consumed the man’s foot. His screams echoing across the deck, “I have learned a great deal from watching my death knight comrade about how to torture someone without killing them. I have learned how to extract the maximum amount of suffering, fortunately for you, I don’t have the time to waste on you.” She carried the man to the side of ship and thrust a blazing hand into the man’s abdomen and extracting it leaving behind a small seed of flame. She drops the man overboard and turns around dusting herself off and healing her wounded hand, “Three…Two…One!” As she finished her countdown the seed inside the man exploded causing quite the ripple effect that caused both ships to sway violently. Flecks of red blood rained down along with the sea water, “Serves you right you filthy pirate.”

Kora looked across to the other ship to see if she could spot the pirates’ leader.

Morician smiled inwardly as he saw his plan coming to fruition, though outwardly his expression was one of steely determination. Baring his teeth and growling, he charged without hesitation at Kersia's command, swinging his runeblade in a mighty strike aimed at the saber's neck.

As she finished her countdown the seed inside the man exploded causing quite the ripple effect that caused both ships to sway violently.

Or perhaps all was not according to plan. The ship heaved violently, jolted by some unknown force. The force of the unexpected motion caused Morician to stumble, sending him careening sideways into a nearby stack of cargo instead, toppling the pile and scattering loose pieces from smashed crates across the deck.

Regaining his bearings, Morician staggered back to his feet with a grunt, assuming another defensive stance as he warily surveyed the situation.

Draco could feel the limit power boost he had received from the Earth granted to him by the Shaman draining as he decapitated another of the Pirates and kicked the body overboard. Looking momentarily at the severed head before tossing it over as well. The molten earth that coated his claws was evaporating every second and soon would be gone completely.

The Dwarf looked up from his latest kill to see several more of the swashbucklers coming at them in a larger group. At the same time he could feel a sudden rush of power as one of their rapiers clashed against something that did not seem to be his armor or weapons. Looking over to see Sylstyx hit the deck hard Draco hocked what looked like a loogie from his throat at the orc that attacked her. Only to have it burst into flames on contact with the Pirate who was trying to strike the shaman down where she lay.

Draco looked over at the shaman giving a Dwarven smile before locking another pirate's weapon within his claw. He was really beginning to hate this interruption. It almost seemed like the number of pirates was endless. For each one struck down another 3 took their place. What were they popping them out of some pirate oven below deck? Moving over to Sylstyx's location on the deck he parried several more blades aiming for the pair. "You better not be dead girl. I don't think Mortre would take too kindly to the news. Also I am going to be in need of your special talents."

Working with his natural Dragon claws was a bonus as he was incapable of being disarmed, but even his natural scales would not protect him for long as each blade he countered tried to leave its mark between his fingers. Looking past the invaders the Dwarf noticed that some of their crew had boarded the other ship. "Good, maybe they can figure out why that ship has soo many crew and put a stop to this." Draco was not getting sea-sick so much as he was simply getting sick of the sea. He wanted dry land and he wanted it as soon as possible.
Vynianyx wasn’t sure if anyone followed her onto the pirate’s ship, but the pirate attacks left her little breath to check. The explosion knocked the ships around, and she felt her stomach churn. I’ve got to make this quick… where is Torin? She pushed through the pirates, using her claws to gouge into their flesh. Her progress was slow, but ever steady as she made her way to the helm. After killing the last pirate between her and the helm, Vyn shifted back into a nightelf.

“You there! Captain!” She shouted at the man at the helm. “Cease this at once! Please.”

The helmsman turned around and chuckled. “Cap’ain? Me tha cap’ain?” He drew a gun, firing it off swiftly before Vynianyx could even reach. The bullet shattered into her left shoulder. Vyn snarled and put her other hand instinctively to the wound. The man began to load another bullet. “Yer wrong there, lassie.”

Vyn was ready this time, her survival instincts in full swing as the man attempted to fire another round. She shifted into her saber form, her front left paw nursed into the air to keep weight off. She lunged, using her powerful hind legs, into the man. He fell to the ground with a thump, and Vynianyx ripped open his throat. Before she could savor her victory, the ship deck shook as a body landed a few paces away. Vyn barely jumped back in time to avoid the axe swing.

“Ah har, ye silly lass!” the woman before her grinned darkly. “I be the captain of this ship! Captain Stormweather!” she shouted as she swung her axe at the druidess.

Vyn sluggishly jumped out of the way; her own pain slowing her down. She needed aide, and the only person she thought knew she was on the ship... was missing.
"You better not be dead girl. I don't think Mortre would take too kindly to the news. Also I am going to be in need of your special talents."

Sylstyx groaned as she pushed herself back up. She rubbed her shoulder and muttered a prayer to the water, causing a small stream of it to run from her hand over her shoulder, numbing the pain. “Zank yoo.” She smiled at the dwarf. The shaman straightened herself and watched as Draco worked with more pirates. The numbers seemed endless… yet the spirits told her they were thinning. She grinned. “Zere numberz beink zmahlerz!” She threw out a totem of water to heal, and a totem of wind to help put some swiftness in Draco’s steps. She then focused on keeping a shield of earthen energy on the dwarf.
As the pirate exploded, the ships rocked. Pirates that were near the edges of the ships or on the masts found themselves plummeting to the great deeps below. The stream of pirates slowly began to dwindle as the fight progressed.

A few more pirates gingerly made their way towards the human mage, after watching one of their crew ignite. They had a few tricks up their own sleeves, their own sabers sparking as a light fire coated the blades.

"Ye ain't the only man with fire." smirked one of the pirates. The pair grinned and charged forward at Richard. Their blazing sabers were raised, ready to cut and burn.

Kersia steadied herself as the ships rocked from the explosion. She saw Morician go to take his blow, but the rocking ship caused the heavily armored knight to lose his footing and stumble into the cargo. As the knight stood and reoriented himself, Kersia had to make a swift decision. Var'lai had vanished in the moment's confusion, but the pile of pirates had begun to thaw. Two broke free and charged at Morician. In that moment, Var'lai reappeared from behind the knight and lunged at him as well.

Kersia cursed and threw a sharpened lance of ice at the charging pirate pair. The lance pierced the soft flesh of one of them, ripping through his side. His body rammed into his partner, knocking the pair down. The one struck with the ice was dead, his body pinning the other. "Damnit." Kersia cursed. The ice pinning the pile of pirates was thawing fast, and she didn't have the leisure of formulating a good solution.

Kersia thought fast. “I am sorry Xin…” she mumbled. Runes of frost magic appeared below the pandaren mage and the group of thawing pirates. Kersia wove the leyline’s magic with her paws before unleashing the spell. In an instant, ice encased the group of pirates. Var'lai was unaffected.
Torin concentrated and a series of thick vines sprouted from the very hull of the ship. They latched and bit deeply into the hull of the pirate ship creating a rather uneasy bridge across. He followed Vyn, knocking a pirate over the edge of the ship as he got aboard the pirate vessel. "Don't rush too far ahead." He said hoping Vyn heard him.

She rushed forward for the helm. "There are too many Vyn!" He shouted as he rushed forward, cutting down a few pirates as he did so. He had been delayed by these pirates these short lived mortals. He heard the gun shot as he stumbled from the rocking of the ship. He let out a howl of pain as a pirate managed to get his side with a cutlass. He lashed at the pirate, slicing open his throat in a shower of blood.

He channeled his power into himself as he charged like a bear through a group of pirates before deflecting the captain's blow. "Foolish girl. Did you not hear me when I warned not to rush ahead of me? Its hard for an old man to keep up sometimes." He said with a light chuckle before redirecting his attention to those around him. Vyn was injured he was bleeding and they were surrounded, it didn't look good for them. "What is it you want Captain? I doubt these ship you are raiding has much in the way of treasure especially worth the lives of your men."
Torin concentrated and a series of thick vines sprouted from the very hull of the ship. They latched and bit deeply into the hull of the pirate ship creating a rather uneasy bridge across.

Kora watched the display with a whistle of appreciation, “The only other person I know that would think of something like that is Sam, of course he would have needed his seed pouch.” To her eyes it seemed Torin had created the vines from nothing, “I wonder how he does that.” Shrugging the woman gingerly picked her way across Torin’s makeshift bridge, tossing a fireball at a pirate aiming his gun towards her allies, “None of that now, I don’t feel like explaining to Dalf why so many of his friends got hurt on my watch.”

Kora lightly jumped down onto the pirate ship, a barrier of flame erupted between her and an incoming arrow, “Good thing I thought to enact a defensive spell or two.” The flames rushed out to either side of the dragoness sending pirates running and going overboard while catching the sails on fire. “Don’t want to burn the ship down while Vyn and Torin are on board.

"What is it you want Captain? I doubt these ship you are raiding has much in the way of treasure especially worth the lives of your men."

Kora walked over to the gathering, “Does it really matter what they want? They attacked us, injured or killed who knows how many of the crew of our ship. Let’s be done with this, kill the captain and the rest of her crew and then scuttle their ship. Make sure these criminals do no more harm, we have a mission to accomplish, we don’t have the time to be bargaining with savage pirates.” Kora stood easily, flames surrounding her sword and shield ready for the fight.
The boats swayed, knocking Richard off his feet. He had only managed to get back up to see a pair rushing towards him, their blades lit with fire.

"Ye ain't the only man with fire." smirked one of the pirates. The pair grinned and charged forward at Richard. Their blazing sabers were raised, ready to cut and burn.

Well, that was unexpected. Lighting their blades on fire and charging towards him wasn't in Richards game plan. They struck and he didn't quite to get avoid it all the way. The blades caught his robe, igniting them and giving him a cut on his arm.

"You know that expression about fighting fire..with fire. Well I'm about to make it literal." Another burst of flames shot out catching the Pirates ablaze and they too scattered. Whether or not they lived weren't any of his concern.

While it may seem unwise, Richard slipped off his hat and took off his robes right there in the middle of a battle. Sure he had an undershirt and his underpants, but for the most part his lower body was quite exposed. He took his feet stamping out the fires on his robe.

It took him a few moments but they were soon gone. "Well, I hope they aren't ruined too badly. Maybe I should have invested in a fire retardant robe after-all." He winced as he waved his arm towards his robe. Right, he was cut. "Jeeze. I really am out of practice aren't I." He looked at the wound. It didn't seem too awful, didn't hit any major arteries or anything. Bit deep though and some burns around it as well, likely because of the fires.

Still it hurt and without some proper treatment it would likely become worse. Now if only he had his satchel with him. He left it on the lower decks where they were before. Why is it every time he actually needs something it's not nearby. "Bah." He grabbed his robe and hat, then attempted to make his way to the lower deck. With luck there wouldn't be too many things this way.

Var'lai had vanished in the moment's confusion, but the pile of pirates had begun to thaw. Two broke free and charged at Morician. In that moment, Var'lai reappeared from behind the knight and lunged at him as well.

Morician grunted as the saber pounced on him from behind, his knees buckling for a brief moment at the unexpected weight. Getting attacked by pirates was one thing--he could handle that. The rocking of the ships at the most inopportune time, however, was the last straw.

Ducking his head and steeling himself against the saber's thrashing, he tightened his grip on his runeblade before erupting in a fit of unholy rage. Twisting slightly, he jabbed savagely at the saber with the pointy pommel of his weapon as he began to attempt to force his way backwards. A quick glance over his shoulder had revealed that the supply crates had been stacked near one of the masts--if he could manage to make his way over there, slamming himself against the mast might knock the saber loose. That was, of course, assuming that the vicious punches he was throwing didn't force the cat loose first.
A few pirates remained on the trade ship, but most retreated back to their ship or found themselves in the ocean... if they were even living. A few stragglers could be found on the ship, determined to finish their work. One or two might impede Richard's path, but in all, it was clear.

What pirates didn't die from Draco and Sylstyx, retreated. Most of the pirates had returned to their own ship, now that the captain had her targets. Others simply went overboard. Torin's bridge still linked the two ships, but it was only a matter of time before the vines snapped. The pirates aimed to aide their captain. They worked on a variety of tasks, like everything was planned. They swung sabers, axes, and fire at Torin's vines, worked to put out Kora's fires, and worked to inhibit others from joining their allies at the helm.

Sylstyx grew worried. If the ships broke apart, how would the others get back? She tossed a totem as hard as she could, and it landed behind the pirates. It pulsed with a light fire, doing its best to burn any who approached. On her own ship, she prayed to the waters around them. A light drizzle of spiritual rain started, rejuvenating and mending her allies aboard the trader vessel.

Kersia was focused on Var'lai. As the deathknight punched the large saber, Kersia worked to fire bursts of arcane energy at it. Each blow from the two weakened Var'lai's grip little by little, but the cat dug his fangs and claws deeper; until the deathknight smashed him into the mast. Var'lai slumped to the ground, dazed for a moment. Groggily, he tried to move away from the deathknight.
