Sorta, they play on a 4’x6’ Table

Cool! I played a Star Trek war game called Starfleet Battles a few times with my little brother, but I tend to prefer tabletop RP.

…not that we play on a table, as one player lives on Long Island and another in Washington State.

I used to play that back in the late 80s, early 90s. Sadly I don’t have the minis for it anymore.

Its been raining since Thursday. Moo and Dauth are sick. Bug is over excited about pretty much everything. Can I hide in MG’s pillow fort?

This week has been March break for the kids. They’re ready to head back to school. They’ve been able to play outside a little thankfully and cheap movies this week were great too!

Unfortunately, my wife is now fighting off a sinus infection that I’m really hoping I don’t catch too!!

But yes, definitely seek refuge in the fort. I’ll join you and we can cast an invisibility spell on it so the kids can’t find us!

Made Cincinnati style chili. Turned out pretty good.

Ordered some Ju87 Stukas for my German FoW army, now I can finally have some air support against those pesky british and russians.

How is that made, or rather, how does it differ from other chili?

it’s quite easy to make. Just plain chili served over spaghetti pasta, topped with chopped onions and shredded cheese.

Sounds interesting. I have never done chili with noodles before.

And now you are making me want chili, lol. We are having another slight cold snap and chili would be good eating. But that would mean going to town for supplies. Decisions, decisions.

I like to add a stick of cinnamon to my chili while it cooks  Then we tend to have it in a bowl with shredded cheese, a little sour cream and bread on the side too. So good!

Oh. We like to make honey cornbread and crumble it into the chili.

I know what you are going through Ellethalua (Personally they should have given you a couple units of blood to bring your # closer to 11 allowing your body to carry more Oxygen rich blood through your body) not personally but with my Mother who I have been caring for the last 4 years. She also became anemic with her Hemoglobin going down to 4.5, They immediately gave her 4 units of blood and then did a Colonoscopy (She had been bleeding from her rectum for a while and didn’t tell anyone thinking it was just her hemorrhoids) which revealed an ulcerated sore that had made it’s way to a small blood vessel, The doctor cauterized it and she was fine after that.
After that bout I purchased a Hemoglobin tester and would check if it was low, Also gave her a iron supplement every other day to keep her hemoglobin in check. I checked it weekly at first and then monthly after that (Test Strips are expensive for those testers as the strips come with a computer chip that are calibrated for the batch of strips when they are manufactured.

If you are interested in buying a Hemoglobin Tester the best on the market in my opinion is the brand named EasyLife.

A year or so later I started noticing her Hemoglobin was going down and when it dropped below 8 it was then I got her to the hospital (It has to be below 8 before they will give a patient blood) and they admitted her and gave her a few units of blood but refused to do any testing in the hospital; I argued with them that they hadn’t found the cause and they said we’ll set her up with a doctor the next week and have an endoscopy (camera down the throat); I asked the doctor on the Saturday morning they were to release her what her hemoglobin was the night before (They check every 12 hours) and she said 9.1 and I asked what it was Saturday morning and she said 8.8, I was pissed off, I told her at that rate she would be below 8 by Monday morning and that they needed to do the endoscopy but she stood firm by her word and forced me to come and get her and take her home. And so I did but when Sunday morning rolls around I checked her Hemoglobin and it was 7.6, I called the Home Healthcare nurse who was coming that day and she said there’s no need for me to come out she needs to go back to the hospital. This time I called an ambulance and followed it to the hospital, Luckily they had a different staff on duty and when I explained what happened they immediately checked her stool which was dark and tarry and tested positive for blood; This means the blood was coming from somewhere up high. I told them about how I argued with the other doctor and what was said. They immediately got a Gastro Surgeon in and went down her throat with a camera and there it was, a large Stomach Ulcer, They admitted her and put her on the right medicine, gave her a couple units of blood and a few days later she got to go home and no other symptoms of that since.

Now we’ve been told that her kidneys are failing and she doesn’t have long; Doctors can’t say how long but at least she got her wish and made it through the holidays, It’s all in GOD’s hands now; I have noticed recently that she sleeps a lot more and from what I read that is the way she will go… Peacefully in her sleep.

But Eilethalua please keep an eye on yourself, 5 is very low for hemoglobin and if it goes lower you will feel very tired, shortness of breath and may even a yellowing of your skin (A Jaundice look)

Prayers for you to have a full recovery.

One of my daughters works at the University of Michigan campus, but she wasn’t there at the time and it turned out to be a false alarm.

I definitely am taking care. I did understand that only getting the iron infusion wouldn’t immediately turn things completely around, but I’m reading more on what to eat, and learning stuff like no chocolate milk with my meat (calcium + oxalates reduces iron absorption), switching to orange juice (vitamin C improves it). I also have an appt scheduled for Tuesday. I’d only done a phone appt, followed by the blood work and EKG, and the moment they got the blood work results they did the iron infusion order. The doctor did mention blood transfusion as a separate option, but I’d rather save that for a last resort.

I also know exactly what the source of the bleeding that has led to this is. It’s tied into perimenopause with menstruation lasting longer and being heavier over the last 6 months or so, combined with dropping out my one-a-day habit (got that back in now). I’ll see what the doctor suggests, though I’d rather avoid invasive surgical procedures like hysterectomy.

I wish your mother the best. It’s strange how long some of us can hold on in spite of failing health. My son-in-law’s great-grandmother had failing kidneys in her 80s and hung on until after her 97th birthday.

Oh, in separate news, I wound up buying a 2015 Ford Focus today. That will make all the getting to appointments and visiting the grandson easier. (He’s doing great. Very alert but quiet unless he specifically needs something, and sleeping in 4 hour blocks most nights.)

Finally got my Sha of Happiness!

/does happy dance

The last pet (Ravenous Prideling) I needed was the same one that never dropped out of the 20 runs through HoF I did on the PTR. This time thankfully it only took 14 runs through HoF to finally get that last drop.

Think I need a Sha of happiness right about now to sit on my shoulder. Today might be the day it happens. What is it you ask? The day i get myself fired of course. I am so on the verge of snapping it is not even funny.

I am so tired of not being fully staffed. Add on to that I have somebody on vacation this weekend so we have filler staff. We’ll the filler person last night really didn’t care to do anything properly and left a metric ton of work for the person filling in today. Oh and I only have half the shift covered. So there is that too.

Deep breaths. You can do this. Problem is they know I can so they don’t stress over it. Think it is time I start complaining just like everyone else.

If you’re like me it takes a lot to really urk me but once I get to that point of boiling over I let things out that I should keep in, There’s only so much a person can take before they explode.
The last position that I held was one that I will never put myself in again; I was always on call 24/7, I had to cover all of the USA, Puerto Rico and Canada; Here I am on the east coast and I have a guy calling at midnight and was up until 4:00 am, Never again will I sign a contract like that no matter what amount of money they offer.

Hang in there Mast; Hopefully things will get better for ya.
