Irish spring soap is a great mouse repellant.
Our neighbor has a couple of those on the edge of their property to deter moles. BEEEEEP every ten seconds. All day, every day.
Thereās a kid that makes fresh bread for the local Farmerās Market. Pretty much everything he makes is great, but the Jalapeno Cheddar bread is AMAZING.
It just makes a slight ticking sound.
Mmmh sourdough jalapano cheddar bread.
DW you making that yourself or Costco bought.
We dont sell that id order it locally.
I have yet to try adding any herbs or such to that recipe (which I make entirely too much of, thank you very much). I need to start experimenting with it, especially with the holidays around the corner.
Iāve got the next few days with absolutely nowhere to be and nothing really to do. Me, being the overachiever that I am, broke my left foot last week. Not from falling, but from standing up. And let me tell ya, I could have gone my lifetime without audibly hearing a bone snap. But! At least itās not my driving foot, so Iām not having to depend on folks again to get around for appointments and errands. And itās just my boot, not a cast as yet. Doc wanted to see if it would realign itself and start healing on itās own, but weāll see in a couple of weeks whether surgery is necessary.
And while Iām on call for jury duty this month, so far Iāve lucked out that last week and this one too, there is nothing on the docket.
SO. Vegging out. Iāve got some recipes I want to try for a couple of soups this week, so thatās really the only thing Iāve got planned until I head out of state for the weekend.
Ouch fast healing.
YES! Dried herbs, or even fresh diced work out pretty well. I add around 2 or 3 tablespoons depending.
- Caraway seeds - 1 tablespoon then more next time if you like them. Sort of a rye flavor
- Rosemary - I crumble the dried rosemary into bits (not powder). About 2 tablespoons. Can also use fresh diced if you have it.
I want to try:
- Chives
- Dill
- cheese (that is going to impact moisture and rise though I think)
- Thyme/oregano for sort of a general herb bread
I find the flavor really IS better if you can let it set in the fridge 24 hours or so. I only got that far once though. I tend to bake it as soon as it is ready. heh.
Thanks! Once I got in the boot it wasnāt too terrible to walk on, thank goodness. Iāve got it worse trying to explain how I actually broke it doing something that normally wouldnāt be a dangerous task.
Been there too. How did you break your toe? Ummā¦walking?
It was broken for Blizzcon 2018 though and after day one was horrible. Do not do a convention on a broken toe or foot.
Hope it heals fast!
They stepped on chaos lego that wasnt there 5 sec ago and boom.
Cobbs bread might make it for you. Their stuff is so good. Their Russian rye makes incredible Rubens.
Foot, actually (fourth metatarsal, to be precise). I stood up.
Had been sitting on the floor, and my brother had asked if I could take my niece for a bit while he did some work. Where I had all the surgeries and stuff on my feet a couple of years back, Iāve got a peculiar way of standing up to help keep my balance. I had gotten tmy feet under me and was straightening up and shifting my weight, and the bone just snapped.
Itād be far more interesting if I say I fell or something crazier, but nope. I stood up. Doc warned me 6-8 weeks, and again, possible surgery if itās not healing like he wants, but just taking it a day at a time.
But thank you! And just yum to all the combinations. I think Iāve done it once where I baked it right away, but usually toss it in the fridge for the 1-3 days because it really does develope a good flavor.
Oh, I was trying to quote my own situation where everybody was confused that I broke my toe just walking! It was an attempt to tell one of those stories that shows I understand. I was not doubting that you broke your foot walking.
Belatedly, that sounds more snippy than I meant to, rather than a ādryā tone. I wasnāt aiming for snippy, Iām sorry!
Best of luck for a full and speedy recovery.
Blasted internet has been wonky since around 12:30 or so. It seemed like they were doing maintenance overnight, since my internet was down when I got up (at 4:30), but it was back up before I started work. Mom says she got a call saying our area wasnāt expecting an outage during the day, but we might see some interruptions due to other areas with outages. But it seems to have stabilized now, so I can get back to my pile of work thatās backed up.
My bubnly kitchen makes homemade sourdough bread cinamon buns and pizza dough.
I do that too, and use my pizza dough for yummy flatbread sammies if iām tired of pizza
