Oooooh boy. Looks like nVidia’s Blackwell line just got another black eye. At this point I firmly believe nVidia is a spider with how many simultaneous black eyes it has currently. The new issue appears to be at least some 5080 and 5090 GPUs having missing ROPs. 8 out of 176 missing doesn’t sound like much, but depending on just how much post processing is going on each frame, that’s up to 5-7% lost speed. Not something you want to see on the two halo SKUs. The 5090s affected have 168 out of 176 ROPs. The 5080s that are affected are much worse off - they’re missing 13% of those ROPs with 112 out of 128 enabled. Given that the 5080 is way below the 5090 in performance already, losing 13% of your post processing pipelines is huge. TechPowerUp has changed its database on the 5080 and those have correct ROPs (112 is apparently the correct number). Not sure how they’d flub that though given the data is directly from nVidia…
For any of the CS folks that run into questions about performance, this is something to keep an eye on. Also, although the AIBs (board partners) should have caught this in QC/QA, nVidia is the one selling them defective GPU dies.
Imagine being scalped and not even getting the full card you (over)paid for. Man am I ever glad I snagged my 4090 when I did before they ballooned in price and then finally went poof because nVidia stopped making 40 series GPUs months before launching the 50 series.

Mornin’ folks. It’s shaping up to be a pretty nice day around here, if a little breezy. I might be able to actually do some outside chores today. Our house is at the end of the street, so plowing isn’t always a priority. And it slopes a bit toward our driveway, so when we have snow melt, the water can ice up our driveway pretty impressively (the street is currently a frozen sheet of what was slush). So I’m going to try to dig out the storm drain, hopefully that’ll help keep the driveway clear.
Aside from that, I believe some naps might be the order of the day.

Good morning.
Got my liver transplant shirts yesterday. I think they’re pretty funny! One has ‘uses recycled parts’ so I’m rocking that one today. Outside of that, still cold, still snowy, but also don’t have anything else to do so relaxing day today.
Think I’m all set to start gardening come spring. I’m excited to give it a go.
Took to leveling a Rogue before 11.1 hits. As opposed to the more in-depth stories that Guuah and other characters have, for this I just wanted a guy. So, Human it is. Has a story but outside of that is just doing his thing.
Made him on Moon Guard and en route to Goldshire–
Don’t know if I was expecting anything less.

Good plan! I also try to keep storm drains clear on my street if I can. Might as well do good deeds while I walk. I had to contact public works last Dec to clean our main drain because water was flooding the intersection when we had super heavy rains…and would have totally iced up in cold weather. They were really prompt about it and contacted me too!

Still sore from my massive project marathon the two days ago. Only got shelf board painting done yesterday, so today is the next coat or two on the other side of the boards. Should be fast and easy. This project required a coat of primer then two coats of the white semi-gloss interior/exterior paint. Hence the time drying between coats.
Laundry did not even get started. I slacked. I then took a shower and got clean jammies on. Ordered pizza.
Hopefully I am a bit more productive today. We shall see.

One more character to max out, then they’re all done. I might work on that tomorrow, so I’ve got that done before 11.1 drops. At least then it’s only hoping for RNG to work in my favor, rather than grinding levels.
