Cross Faction Play =/= End of Factions

Ok here is an idea. Don’t get rid of the factions but let any race join any faction. For example, i want to play a Kultiran druid but i want to stay Horde.

How young are you? I mean, if you think that 4 people getting along means the entire war is done and over with you can’t be more than 5 or 6 years old.

Get out.

Much of the game was built around faction tension being a sauce on the overall meal of the story. Faction focused expansions have not been good. MoP had enough non-faction things going on to be good, but they’ve never done a faction conflict focus well because gameplay doesn’t allow a satisfying conclusion given players play both factions. But having the tension in the background and the Alliance and Horde carving their own paths through the story has always been appealing. It’s too bad Blizzard lacks the talent in writing to make it work.

Blessings to you sir. I want to dedicate more time responding but work calls. More from me in a few hours. I will take time out to respond to all later tonight.

The tension can still exist. Just because the sides are working together doesn’t mean there aren’t tension. Plus we could have faction cross play and faction conflict still. Anduin and Baine can lead Horde and Alliance that play nice, Sylvanas and Tyrande can lead Horde and Alliance that kill each other.

I look forward to seeing you defend your faction advantages at the expense of my subscription fee.

I expect about $10 from you in the mail every month going forward to pay for my inconveniences when I can’t find a freaking mythic+ group.

I mean, if you want to just dismiss them as four people, go for it.

The foundation of World Of Warcraft was based on the Horde and Alliance developed into Warcraft III. Jaina and Thrall were the pioneers of peace between the two factions, even though at the time Jaina was only the leader of a small subsection of Humans. With Thrall back in the picture of the Horde, and Anduin as High King of the Alliance along with Jaina finally coming to terms with her past, the only animosity comes from Tyrande with a bit of Greymane. The Horde has no reason left to hate the Alliance because the Alliance has been right for years now.

Not to mention the Fourth War is officially over, and with both factions being led by people who want peace, now would have been the time for cross faction play. The PvP/WM skirmishes could then be developed as story with Tyrande and some Horde leader still going at each other’s throats.

You can dismiss four racial leaders and the two big names of the factions as “just four people”, but how the leaders perceive the war is very important story wise.

Working together takes the tension away completely. It breaks immersion.

That was the entire point of the Saurfang sad videos, and bringing Thrall back. They’re “ending the cycle of hate” by buddying up with the alliance.

The insults are unnecessary, by the way.

Forced conflict where unnecessary breaks immersion.

We’re at a natural point in the story now where we can have factions of Cooperation and Conflict existing in the lore at the same time and have it reflected in gameplay.

What’s unnecessary? Jaina may love greenskins, but I want to see them all die.

You are not everyone.

We already work together. I helped a Human DK with a rare yesterday. We saluted each other and finished the rest of the zone together.

Oh no, my immersion.

Also my Blood Elf can talk to and translate for Void Elves. I’ve used this to help Alliance and Horde finish things together. Literally the only thing left is just letting us group together.

Blasphemer! They’re about to set you on fire in here.

I bet Blizzard doesn’t want to do this b/c then they would lose money from faction/server changes. And we all know Blizzard is about the money > actual players.

Neither are you.

I’m wearing my flame proof underwear, I’m ready for it!

I mean, let’s be real here, it definitely isn’t a lore reason. That faction transfer cash must be pretty, this is probably the most correct statement in this thread.

No. You literally point out that 4 people got along and said that “now that the cycle of hate is over” or something.

Doesn’t mean we can all get along now. Doesn’t mean that the next time something comes along that we need to “set aside our differences” for I’m going to immediately defer to a horde raid leader and let a bunch of trolls, orcs, and moo-cows lead me into battle against our enemies.

I don’t trust you. I think you’re going to use me as fodder.

And from a non roleplaying perspective, I’m alliance. I want to raid/group/etc with alliance players. Horde players can sit and spin for all I care.

The fact that so many people have been forced to roll horde is the problem. I don’t give a crap about how the story gets impacted. All I care about is that if I want to find a mythic+ group as a DPS I need to be either in a guild group, or I need to roll horde. Otherwise it’s going to take me an hour to find a group, or I’m going to have to settle to running a key level way below the level I need, and regardless of what I do I simply can’t push my own key unless I can heal or tank.

You want fair cross-faction play?

Alliance get the benefit, horde do not, and the system is shut down in the event faction populations reach any kind of parity. That would be fair.

Horde does not get to benefit. Horde should not benefit. Being overpopulated should not be the best outcome for the players. Parity should give the best outcome.

As I said in another post, Merc mode was a mistake. It was the exact wrong thing to do and all it does is make things worse.

I mean do we really need anymore Draenei? all current and future horde races will be given a free immediate faction change and we will abolish the horde completely.

How can there be faction imbalance if they’re only 1 faction?
