Cross Faction Parties & Guilds

They already don’t matter.

"They don’t matter. They shouldn’t matter. I don’t want them to matter.

…but I’m not advocating getting rid of them"

Yes you are.

Like I advocate deleting the druid class and the tauren race.

…but I want them to stay in the game. /S

No I’m not.

I’m advocating that PLAYERS be able to join a party or a guild regardless of what faction a player’s character is in.

When I am in a dungeon or a raid, or while doing world quests, being in a faction is completely irrelevant.

PLAYERS are the main characters of the story. If factions don’t matter for us, they don’t matter at all. Not in game, not in story, not anywhere. They will have been effectively removed.

You want to remove factions. Just be honest. It’s not difficult.

Last time I checked, I dont’ live in the imaginary world of Azeroth.

When I’m in a raid or a dungeon, what does my faction affect?

How does joining a party “remove” factions?

I’d like it! I like the idea.
I don’t think everybody should have to be nice, if WM was one: you were hated by the other faction, at war the same as it is now.
If it was off: Neutral?

There can still be places your faction cannot go, and/or cannot get quests from or meaningfully interact with the other faction.
That might help keep the programmers from needing to revamp the world.

Consider what happens when you got to SW or Org the first time as a Death Knight. What if that happened constantly to the opposite faction when they entered?
Many of those NPC would never forgive the opposite faction!

But still I’ve saved Thrall more times than I killed him!

Wow…you just…I have no words to express just how incorrect this statement is.

Who, exactly, do you think the main character is?

Actually, don’t tell me. You’ll probably say “anduin” or something equally idiotic.

I’m done in here. You’ve beaten me. I can’t go on. It’s like talking to a brick wall.

Good bye.

ESO, FFXIV, GW2… All have factions. There’s content to serve that purpose such as pvp content. They exist in lore as well. Yet you can still cross group with people for pve.

Imagine that.

Yes, I know. You don’t understand what this conversation is about.

it doesn’t.

Just because you think you’re smart doesn’t mean you are. Won’t bother arguing with a troll at this point.

Even EverQuest, the game that WoW owes its existence to, had factions. As an Iksar Shaman, I could group up with that Wood Elf… but I definitely wasn’t going to be allowed to follow him home. After all the inspiration they took from that game, I’ll always wonder why they chose not to pick up on that queue.

The thought at the time was that WoW was going to have an RvR system for PvP that would necessitate the split, but that never came. And it never will.

It’s time to stop pretending that WoW is something that it isn’t. I wish that WoW was the game that the opponents of the removal of the hard faction barrier say it is. But it isn’t. And it never has been. It has only pretended to be.

Factions make WoW what it is. They’ll never get rid of them. Thank goodness.

Getting rid of them and allowing cross-faction grouping are mutually exclusive concepts. Thank goodness.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go to the cross-faction city of Oribos to pick up a cross-faction quest to go to the cross-faction zone to save a cross-faction NPC. Maybe while there, I’ll share a cross-faction tag on some quest mobs.

Oh, but wait, I better use that cross-faction auction house to buy some cross-faction goods to craft a legendary piece that is signed by a member of the opposite faction.

All well and good. As long as I can’t hear Alliance chat it’s fine.

The factions will never group together. When they do this game is dead.

The two main Factions provide absolutely ZERO game play except for PvP.

There’s no feature in the game outside of PvP and a handful of faction specific quests that does anything with the fact that a character is either Horde or Alliance.

NOBODY IS SUGGESTING THAT THE FACTIONS BE GOTTEN RID OF.

That’s precisely my point. People are conflating the two.

It’s been that way from the beginning. WoW has dominated the market for 17 years. Why change now? The player base has adapted. Pet battlers and mog farmers on one side, and people who don’t want to associate with them on the other.

Just stop. Cross faction grouping and chat essentially destroys the faction divide.

My bad.

Indeed, it seems to be a constant rebuttal to which there was no actual argument about.
