“As a champion of Azeroth, you have a unique power that allows you to escape this place. To the denizens of the Shadowlands, you are knowns the Maw Walker, and your unique ability to come and go from the Maw makes you highly valuable to your Covenant. You’re able to undertake missions to free others who have been captured in the Maw and eventually take the fight to the Jailer.”
I really don’t see how this leaves any room for RP in the Shadowlands

Oh god…how did I not connect it before? Covenants. We’re joining COVENANTS.
Zenimax ought to sue Blizzard for outright IP theft.

I assume it’s only copyright that’s preventing them from calling us Pac Man

I mean, couldn’t you just RP as someone who died and came there naturally? Omg… everyone’s dead RP character would be there now that I think about it…
TBF it’s the same situation as FFXIV, where you are canonically the WoL traveling to the First. I haven’t RP’d in the game in awhile, but I don’t think it’s hampered RP at all?
Let’s not forget that in the same breath Blizzard just told us the maw is superhelljail that no one has EVER escaped
We’ve already been confirmed as so special we can traverse it at will
No because all souls are going to The Maw. Only the PC has the unique ability to leave the Maw.
Yeah, but to be fair, that’s everything.
We’re the Champion of Azeroth who will heal the world. Before that, we were the Champion of Azeroth who would lead the armies. Before that, we were the Commander. Before that, we were…tourists?
Anyway, we’ve always been special. Now we’re just too special for death.
Weirdly, it would be cool if the denizens of Shadowlands actually knew us from all the times we died and were like: “oh, hey, you’re back. Wait, you’re alive this time?”

just rp the same way that you did when we were canonically stuck in a different time period with no way back until the end, or a different dimension with no way back, or a different planet with no way back
portals and lore squinting
I mean, as Murder Hobos eventually we’d have to murder ourselves to continue our murderous rampage ever questing for new pants into the afterlife.

Dude, I had high hopes for Legion, really thought it would be the first expansion I’d play from start to finish. That RNG just broke my spirit. There’s only two expansions I have actually enjoyed and it was BC and MOP. Everything else has been awful for me haha.
Same friend. BFA has probably done the most damage. WoD broke me, Legion eviscerated me, BFA rubbed salt in both wounds. Shadowlands looks like a discount doctor giving the wound stitches and a makeshift cast.
All they had to do was give us Cross Faction grouping and guilds. Would have at least had my interest.
Totally, it’s not at all surprising, it’s just a certain kind of disappointing. We skipped any pretense of it being remotely interesting but at least they didn’t lead us on like it was gonna matter.
Yes and no. Yes it’s unlikely you’ll see any source residents traveling to the first but the First is full of the exact same races as the Source.
With Shadowlands it seems far more restrictive with who and what is where and when.
They understand why you want to, but the Alliance and Horde separation is what makes Warcraft what it is and there is some value to mechanical reinforcement of that division.
Alright so we already covered “hmm this seems dumb” but I took a lazy skim of MMO-C and “there is some value to-” is complete garbage. That is a lie. It’s objectively incorrect. It’s false.
I can not quantify my outrage.
Q: Is Chronicle cannon?
A: It is, but it is from the view of the titans and so there is room to explore the more obscure mythology.
Oh my bloody god
Q: Is there a possibility of playable races with more or less than two legs now that Mechagnomes are a thing?
A: If it is appropriate to the story then maybe! They got new tech for mechagnomes and can explore it now.
Okay so this is the only one that I have any remote pretense of hope for. I mean, not respect because just give us the god damned races blizzard, but hope.

We will find out during the story that Sylvanas’s dealings with the Jailor started when she threw herself off of Icecrown in Edge of Night.
The entire thrust of this expansion started in a source not in the game.

so let’s see in league of legendsland y’all get
torghast aka palace of the heaven dead on high
artifacts and order halls rolled into one in the form of covenants which will absolutely be mechanically unbalanced (good luck doing high-end group content if you pick the wrong one!)
dark skin and non-white customization options for humans added back after being removed in wod
expanded customization for everyone else also (objectively good and nice, but super late)
iconic abilities (but not iconic enough for them not to be removed in the first place) also being added back in because restoring cut content is the same as adding new content
oh and also sylvanas aka every strong female character joss whedon has ever written rolled into one sexxey corpse-body is running around being 2cool4school
rip to anyone sticking around for this
