It was very much the norm for the entire time I played in Classic. You also see it all the time in BFA, the fact that you doubt how common it is amuses me.
Absolutely no one should have to choose between gameplay mechanics and storyline/cosmetic choices. We have never once in the history of this game been unable to change a talent.
… seriously? Did we learn nothing from that crap before? People constantly complained about being the special snowflake. This crap needs to stop.
That’s not it at all. You clearly don’t seem to understand the problem with gameplay mechanics being locked behind storyline factions.
Another point to make is certain specs in BFA are complete trash without certain Azerite traits, enough so some of those Azerite traits are becoming baseline or talents in Shadowlands. Covenenant/soulbind abilities will be no different, for some specs they will make or break, undoubtably and that’s one of the main problems.
There really isn’t even the slightest difference whatsoever. Demanding that all of it be available at a given time for you to use as you see fit IS wanting them all.
They are clearly saying that they want ACCESSIBILITY to the abilities, not to concurrently have all of them at the same time. Are you being willfully ignorant?
Okay, you’re just pretending right? There’s no way you think having access to every single ability at any time is the same as the ability to swap freely.
Do you think we have every single talent at once too?
There’s no difference for you, for me there’s a lot. When you enter some type of content you can’t just switch during an encouter. Effectively momentarely locking me out of those choices. Time is the only point here, because you will be able to change between them we just don’t know how and how bad it will be. If you’re arguing for a complete lockout, it’s already not happening.
Nah, I think he just got too excited to argue and didn’t think about what he was saying. There’s no way he can’t tell the difference between having things available all the time and being able to swap them.
Its the same thing, ladies. No amount of you dorks rallying around each other in your little echo chamber, bashing F5 waiting for my reply and making stupid equivalencies changes that.
You prefer a game where you just have whatever the popular I WIN button is available to you at a moment’s notice. That’s fine. Enjoy yourselves <3
Well that’s the sound of someone who’s no longer able to make reasonable arguments because they’ve lost.
I’m starting to think that Blizzard could serve up excrement on a plate and there would still be people on this forum who would rush to argue that the excrement is actually for our own good.
Think he got uncomfortably close to having to hold a thought in his head that was contrary to “you want everything all the time always” and so he bailed before it could take root.
To get back on topic. I think unlocking progression on all covenants with a single character is a potential solution.
The idea being that a player can ‘choose’ a covenant (much in the same way a character can choose which zone to level in first). Completing progress with that covenant unlocks abilities, gear, transmogs, mounts rewards etc which become available to you to enable on your character whenever you choose.
The key being here that the ability rewards can only be filled into a fixed number of slots so that a player cannot benefit from all covenant abilities at the same time. We already have a system that could support this. It’s called talent bars.
Think of how much more potential content this would open up for a single character!
