Covenants and the people in them

So I’m trying to figure out what kind of people go to which covenant.

I feel the views I have them so far are overly simplified, and I feel it’s more complex, here is what I have so far:

Revendreth: Bad bois gotta repent

Bastion: Dedicated to a cause, willing to give your existence to it

Ardenweld: Nature…?

Maldarxxus: Me fight big unga bunga?

I’m a big roleplayer with a lot of characters, and I select my characters covenant based off thier personality, but I’m having a hard time finding more meaning in each area, like it feels like all my warriors belong in Maldraxxus, etc etc.

I want to know more about what gets people sent to where they sent. For example, what would a goblin be doing in ardenweld? What’s the difference between a person destined for Bastion over Maldraxxus other than “Your memories give you strength.”

It feels like Ardenweld and Maldraxxus are the two I’m having the most trouble with, sure it’s easy to simply say “Ah, warriors go to maldraxxus and druids go to ardenweld.”

Anyone got any big brain ideas or maybe a good source of information to learn about these places?

What’s the difference between a person destined for Bastion over Maldraxxus other than “Your memories give you strength.”

Do you fight because you have to? Bastion.

Do you fight because you like it? Maldraxxus.

LOL, not the answer I was looking for, but I love it nonetheless. I mean if the arbiter had sent them there after they died, what kinds of person would they- or anyone have to be to get sent there?

Probably the rare big picture/long-term profit investing Goblin, the type who knows that there is more money to be made over time by practicing conservative hunting/logging so as not to adversely disrupt an ecosystem, while also investing in technologies, pesticides, etc… to maintain a healthy and stable ecosystem to exploit for profit. They might also look at establish a resort nearby for wealthy clients looking for pampering away from the big city or such.

So Ardenweald is only about if a person is conscious about nature rather than anything else in thier personality?

The person needs to have a strong connection to nature. I was just attempting to describe what I would consider to be the maximum nature-loving type of Goblin that you might be able to find. Granted there are always exceptions to the norm, but most Goblins are very profit driven and oriented, and I can only imagine those that would protect and revere nature to do so for a profit.

Truthfully, I don’t think we’d ever see Goblins in Ardenweald.

Well your idea was good, a goblin that enjoys seeing something expand and grow in productivity more than profit would make sense in ardenweald.

The issue is that there is an ‘infinite’ amount of realms, so shoehorning everyone (essentially, if you’re assigning your own characters) into 4 different realms can be a bit jarring.

Revendreth: You did a lot of bad, but are “redeemable”, i.e. did it for a ‘good’ cause. Or not. Sometimes you just do bad stuff and get a chance to repent for a while.

Bastion: What you said, and/or your memories from your life would hinder you from ‘moving on’.

Ardenweald: Attuned to nature, all that good stuff. Shamans, druids, hunters, hippies, you name it.

Maldraxxus: Kind of an odd one, cause it’s “war-like” people, people who are good at necromancy, people who like to protect people (through combat? Willing to fight for others?), and god knows who else. Loves skeletons, probably.

Goblins in Ardenweald would be few and far between, I’m going to be honest. The difference between Bastion and Maldraxxus would be how the person felt in life - you’re clearly aware of the Mograine situation based on the quote you’ve listed. Honestly, I want to say that one of the deciding factors of whether you go to Bastion or Maldraxxus is if you’re damaged or not. Damaged goods tend to go to Bastion - it’s hard to survive in the bone pit of Maldraxxus otherwise. Essentially, I’d say it’s the “mindset” of the person that determines whether they’re sent to either (this is of course assuming it’s a warrior or generally a ‘fighter’ type person.

I think with Ardenweald, it’s that simple. If you are attuned to nature and you otherwise did not summon a massive overgrowth to murder millions of people maliciously (idk lmao), you’re off to Ardenweald.

The best source of information is just to play the game and talk to the NPCs, tbh.

That’s a reasonable way of looking at it, thanks!

Happy to help!

As a permanent resident of Maldraxxus, I can say there are numerous types of souls that end up belonging to our covenant. A common thread that they share is a life filled with conflict and strife. They are children of the battlefield with iron will forged in the flames of war.

My guild is composed mostly of Necrolords. This is simply the afterlife we’ve earned based on our actions during BFA towards rival guilds in an unending contest for political supremacy and military dominance.

There is no better archetype for this covenant than individuals like J from the Armored Core Universe. His ideologies can best be summed up with the following quote:

“You seek a world of endless war and destruction. On that we can agree. The world of order built by the Three Forces is not one I can live in. There is no place for me other than the battlefield. To live as I please, and die a senseless death. That is who I am. Not a mere man of flesh. War is part of my existence.”

Someone such as him would have truly been worthy of the title Primus.

(from a non RP standpoint I went with the covenants I did for aesthetic purposes) From a rp standpoint my Deathknight met an old friend when questing who is now a Baron with them so having a ally there already it was a good fit for him. Cinthoric here liked the idea of helping others repent of their actions in life as he has shown similar mercy to a Defeated Sargerei Magus (my female “Draenei” fire mage ) so he allied himself with the Venthyr. My DH went with the Night Fae since he felt kinship with Ara’lon.
