Covenant: You won't not be invite to groups

Spifs - your experience is at the end of the expansion when the content is on farm, many many people are just playing alts - and groups are looking for people as people drop out waiting for the next expo. And in BFA, theer are many paths to gear so your ilvl is solid.

Its completely different at the start when content is relevant and more challenging, and will be worse when the ilvl difference between you and raiders is going to be bigger than it has been since Vanilla.

i am really surprised that Ion, the man whose reputation was gained from minmaxing and being a top level raider, doesn’t seem to get that people will minmax covenants and locking them into one will be a disaster. especially if covenants are buffed or nerfed at any point

I am not surprised, since he was a min/max player himself. He thinks this is normal behavior due to his own toxic guild over the years.

So, I know that’s a popular gif, but are there actually people who think two scoops man is unironically funny?

Can I ask how to you came to the conclusion he’s in a toxic guild?

Correct. And in my previous example, you can say “oh Bleak, just play better and if you get perform better with a bad spec/covenant, you should be brought over those who play the meta”.

But that’s not really how it works in a competitive team. If everyone is roughly as good as each other, you can’t afford to give up massive edges in performance, like by playing bad specs, or in Shadowlands, playing a bad Covenant.

I will just be outright non-competitive within my team if I take a 20% loss to my damage.

You can get declined even today

Some how ppl have missed literally thousands of getting declined threads for like a few expansions

Blizzard has an obligation to make 1 extremely mind-numbingly bad decision every launch, even when people are telling them it won’t work since Alpha they charge head on against a wall everytime.

Now they’ll waste time and tiers trying to fix this system instead until 9.3 where we can pick and choose covenant powers while keeping our choice of covenant for looks.

His guild was known for only choosing mix/max players for their progression. He thinks people being discriminated against is normal behavior due to his years of doing it himself. It’s evident with him ignoring these covenant issues.

You will be in a guild where people care less.

In Legion I tried raiding. I was in a casual guild progressing on normal raiding. The RL was awful at explaining things. One mage who was doing very low dps turned out to have dropped the quest to open her third artifact slot and so only had 2 relics equipped. One day we got to raid and the main healer’s husband announced his wife couldn’t be there that night because she was making pasta. It was all screw-ups and slow learners.

I play survival hunter and let me tell you when i get in groups they instantly say BM or kick and it hurts my feelings so much like i couldnt do 15’s for months without someone laughing at me in game and kicking me. My raid group even sat me when i wouldn’t agree to change specs…i’m having flashbacks just looking at this new system. Like i have had to plead with people to take me on runs telling them im not like those other survial hunters im special i do damage. They just dont care and listen and take the chad BM hunter. Like why do groups always go for the Chad BM hunter and not me. I do damage and i can do mechanics. Like idk if i can do this again in Shadowlands

Its ok, you can make your own M+ / Raid group / Raid guild.

If he plans on getting CE progression choosing players who play their class optimally isn’t toxic. That’s just being smart.

No mythic prog team wants a new player to join their team all he’s going to do is hold the team back. A new player belongs in normal prog guilds.

Exactly, instead of Ion fixing the issues of the discrimination of players like you, he is now adding to it with a new system. Like WTF? LOL…

I tried that but when people would join my group they saw i played survival and told me they rather play with people from ragnaros

Min-maxing is a chosen style of gameplay, not for everyone.

Starting a guild named “elitist jerks” has always been a big “hmm…” for me.

Do you get kicked out of groups for not having r3-4 essences? Do you get held out of groups for not having perfect and stacked corruptions on your gear with a max rank cloak?

If either of these is no, covenants wont be an issue.

I doubt, only the 1% care about what you play and how you play. Must’ve been very unlucky.

Nah, min-maxing is a standard thing in RPG’s.

But it’s like an onion, it’s got layers. The dude looking up Icy Veins to see what’s his best spec setup and how to gem/enchant is a min-maxer, but not to the same degree as the dudes from Method who basically grinded Islands for days on end purely to level up their neck.

I have to be completely honest here. Along with these topics I often see “Play what you want and have fun // Is this button fun to press”

I can quite seriously never once in my wow career have I not played a spec or class because it was fun or the button pressing was fun or that how fun something was is/was a serious consideration to me playing it or not.

It all comes down to performance and ability in my gameplay. I don’t mind playing 4 button classes or 12 button classes, as long as they perform well for me and I can min/max and know that im doing my best, then idc how fun something is or isn’t.

Topping charts and parsing is fun for me. Knowing and seeing that im one of the better players is fun for me. Everything else is completely secondary. I will HAPPILY sit here for weeks and weeks and press the same 3 buttons as long as it gives me the results I like to see. I don’t play a spec or faction for fun, how fun is this rotation is and never has been a consideration for me. I play for purely performance.

Covenants will be determined by performance. Not fun. Limit yourself if you like but don’t cry its not fair becuase you don’t want to take every possible advantage to improve of what’s “fun” depending on the type of content you want to do.
