Just allow the abilities to be switched, it hurts no one, and soulbinds provide enough work and story within the covenant to be their power without being stupidly unbalanced like crazy
Oh, is it? How so? I addressed your idea. I stated that it was a bandaid to a bad system.
Weâre just now entering beta. We shouldnât be trying to find compromises with Blizzard we should be stating our issues with what theyâve thus far presented.
If they allowed the abilities to be switchedâperhaps on a cooldownâ(or just got rid of the bleeding things) the issues would instantly be resolved.
If that does actually happen then you will be forced to farm the conduits that may affect those different covenant abilities and swap them out as well. I just feel like weve done enough swapping with the last xpac.
Iâd be okay with this. Iâm okay with grinding more if it allows me to be more versatile.
I like that idea more than the one you presented which punishes versatile players.
So far conduits affect base abilities, no reason they arenât keeping it that way.
Thatâs cool but itâs not a punishment. Itâs a different style of gameplay.
I suppose. Regardless it doesnât really address the issue for players that play multiple specs and do multiple forms of content unless you could make this choice multiple times.
And thatâs ok. There would be unhappy people no matter how they set up the system.
How is it okay to tell players that want to do all that they can to help their team progress to roll a new toon or get stuffed?
I donât see how people can be okay with that. Example: I play frost and blood on my DK. On BFA that requires two sets of gear, two sets of corruptions, and a whole heap of essences.
Itâs a big grind but I did it and my DK can perform both roles well. In SL if I build for blood my frost is going to permanently suffer and vice versaâand thatâs not even getting into optimizations for raid, m+, or PvP.
It feels artificially limiting and Iâm just not sure that anything we can suggest short of changing the system fairly significantly can fix that.
Heck, even modern CRPGsâwhich are as hardcore RPG as video games getâlet you respec your character⌠Some even let you reroll to an entirely different class (Pathfinder: Kingmaker, as an example.)
Blizz isnt telling you to do that. Your raid team is. Take that issue up with your raid team.
My raid team isnât telling me to do anything. Read the rest of the comment instead of quoting the first paragraph, yeah? I explained my point below. lol
I really dont care. None of this has to do with my post. Iâm not here to talk about why you wanna be able to gear for all your specs and game modes. Iâve done it for a whole xpac. Iâm cool with the change. If youâre not then talk about it elsewhere.
It absolutely has to do with your idea. Your suggestion is that you should be able to pick an ability from another covenantâonceâand then be locked into that choice.
That does not address most of the issues folks have with the system. I am trying to point out the issues (in my opinion) with your idea but youâd rather be rude than have a proper discussion.
Your idea isnât very good because it doesnât really accomplish anything, to put it bluntly.
The most productive thing youâve said.
I think the system will be fine. Unlike Legion and BfA youâre going to have your conduits as flavour- much like corruption essences we have now. Some will be meta, some wonât, but ultimately youâre going to be adding some spice to your character. A bit of dps for tanks or healers isnât a bad thing and survability for dps isnât terrible, either. I think people are panicking they wonât hit âmetaâ and I think thatâs fallacy.
Iâm anticipating greatly once the dust settles post release to see the players who expect this system to not affect them, or simply donât care, to realize how bad this is.
For over a year now people have been crying for Legion⌠and theyâre getting it but better. Itâs honestly not a bad system now that Iâve been able to do more research about it. People have also done nothing but complain over Azerite traits, complained about the essences and then complained more about the corruption. Thereâs no way to please people. Meta pushers are gonna meta and if youâre into the meta then all you have to do is find the right conduit which is literally nothing more than people who currently find the best azerite traits or corruption gear. And hereâs the thing- All RPG games have RNG. Thereâs no escaping it. If you got everything you needed on day one⌠would you keep playing?
The problem is that you can never be optimal in all of the content you want to do.
If it ends up within 1-2% then whatever, it will be fine. As it currently stands, though, some choices are much further behind than that.
so what will you do when blizz inevitably nerfs or buffs certain powers. one day you are in the covenant you like but suddenly the ability you get isnât even worth casting. that means you either change to a covenant you donât like just because of power or you stay in the one you like but are vastly under performing.
this system is a mess. you know when people said the legion artifact system favored only playing one spec because of how long of a grind it was to make other specs playable? the complaint came to pass and there was a huge uproar when the majority of the casuals actually got to try it.
you know how people were saying at the beginning of bfa that azerite was crap because you had to farm azerite to be able to use powers you already had on previous gear (and donât say it wasnât talked about during alpha/beta because the system wasnât released for testing until literally a week before launch)? there was a huge uproar when it affected the casuals and it was changed in 9.2. well after when it shouldâve been changed.
for once, can you people look beyond your own selfish, short sighted ideals and see the actual issue before it becomes too late for a fix to come in a reasonable time?! the people testing these systems see these issues coming from miles away and time and time again, you all just brush them off as the ramblings of elitists trying to make the game play how they want.
did it EVER cross your mind that these people are concerned for the health of the game and not just how it plays for them?!
There is nothing RP in these covenants. How the f*** you have a paladin using shadow spells or a warrior using arcane spells something âRPâ in WoW? Have you ever seen that? Stop this argument âFinally some RPG in WoWâ when it comes in the worse form possible
And covenants are part of a terrible system. You will be stuck with one covenant on your character and if you want just to have fun trying the other convenants on your character, you will have to lose your progress, your current abilities, your transmog etc.? This forum is always about âThis is simply not funâ - " Blizzard I want to have fun" and yet, you have the same people defending this system when it prevents them from even trying something different (e.g. trying a different covenant to see another ability) for a couple of hours?
I am looking forward to see the meltdown once people realize how this system is horrendous. I canât believe how many people donât see the issue with covenants, conduits and all the other systems.
