You might have had a point, if covenants were nothing but there gear sets. But seeing you are just trolling, I an going to just ignore you.

Except anyone doing that won’t progress the covenant campaign enough to buy gear worth having.
On the other hand, PvP battlegrounds have been great so far.
Because it isn’t just for mogging.
- It’s good starter gear for alts, at this point with renown catchup you can kit yourself out in most slots with 171-184 items, as long as you’ve got a little anima.
- More than that, this stuff is meant for players who don’t do dungeons or other group content. The casual of the casual, the world quest heroes. It gives them some kind of progression path to work for.
Yea they really missed the mark on these sets. At least in Legion they were actually viable pieces of gear.
What item level can they be upgraded to? The set bonus would be nice if they could be upgraded high enough.

Then why the upgrade system?
The typical mog upgrade process is applying them to your current gear.
These are BoP and it’s hard to conceive of any potential use as gear. If they were BoA they might have a purpose for quick gearing alts, but they dont.
Right now, 177. That is rank 4/7.
Rank 5/7 boots are available at the vendor. They are 184 and time gated to Chapter 7 of the campaign. I think this is renown 17 which is next week.
Rank 6/7 chest is available at the vendor, iLevel 190. Time gated to Chapter 8 of the campaign.
The final upgrade 7/7 will be mid 190’s iLevel… 196?
EDIT: that’s for Kyrian. Slots might be different for other covs.

They’re fantastic catchup for alts, or just solid progression for people who don’t like mythic group stuff.

I’m starting to see this now, so far I’ve had some shoulders drop from a WB, zero drops from raid, and a ring from the Great RNG Vault
Loot drops are so low I’m forced to collect anima to upgrade covenant armor just so I can raid, the game feels like a job now and that’s never a good thing
btw, I don’t have a legendary yet, I have all the items needed to make one and I finished the soul ash quest, as it turns out I need another 700 soul ash to make the actual armor now, feels bad, really bad!

Only because loot drops are the lowest we’ve ever seen
It is useful for me. I won’t do Mythic+. I see no reason to do organized raiding. World Content is it and these upgrades help with that. People doing other content have other options.
This thread is a bit old, guess people was complaining at launch, right now you can upgrade it to a very decent level, and its quite useful, my alt has the fully upgraded covenant set gear and saved me a ton of time grinding the pvp gear.

197 Ilvl is not too shabby for people who do not do group content. As long as they continue to upgrade the set each content patch and keep it 3 ilvls below normal raid I think this is a good thing.
Actually, drops are such crap, I could upgrade my helm to be an upgrade at this point. Same goes for my cloak if I get around to getting my BiS leggo.
Yep, this week both my alts hit the renowned cap and filled out their gear set with a bunch of easy to get 190s. Not bad for doing three quests a week and some story line stuff.
Good catch up for alts.
on one of my alts, i’m rocking the 5-set bonus and the rest sinful gear for PvP. I’m like ilvl 180 though :'D
