Covenant abilites and dual specs

Any druids play all 4 specs and wondering how one singular ability will suffice?

I’m sorta at a loss on options other than rolling 4 different druids. If you want to make it even worse, I’m sure there’s an argument to have even more than 4+ druids at a time if you’re a mythic raider or like to min/max.

Sadly its looking like balance hell already, not liking this at all.

Honestly they need some huge changes or we’re gunna sit thru another poorly thought-out xpac.

Make it talentable, maybe have a day or two cooldown on specs/covenant abilites …something please.

How about you pick a covenant you like and not care if it isn’t min/max?

Because some people like to maximize the potential from their character.

There has to be more in the details I hope, but with all the specs of the different classes I don’t see how they can gate these abilities. It just has disaster written all over it from what they’ve said so far. Here’s hoping they listen this time and it isn’t another azerite situation.

Easy to say when you arent doing high end content at all.

In a perfect world everyone would like to do this, until groups start gatekeeping based on your chosen covenant.

You have a higher chance of being gated by your class than by your chosen covenant. If your guild tells you that you can’t raid because you picked Night Fae instead of Necrolords, they’re a rare breed of elitist.

No, that will be a common issue depending on the impact of covenant skills, we already saw what corruption achieved, so we can actually expect the worst.

How about our talents not be locked behind a faction and a long grind to change them?

This isn’t just about those who min/max.

It isn’t elitism if a ret pally is performing 30% worse than another ret pally purely because he made the wrong choice. That’s most likely an exaggerated number but you get my point.

It’s a bad system.

Because if Essences, Azerite Traits, and Legion’s legendaries are any indication, if there’s a noticeable disparity between any two Covenant abilities it’s going to be an absolutely massive disparity that’ll make a spec unplayable unless they have the correct Covenant ability, and Blizzard will probably end up balancing out that disparity by sledgehammering the one that overperforms to the point where everyone that picked that Covenant got retroactively screwed over for picking that Covenant.

OP has a very genuine concern, and I can assure you that it’s not a baseless one either.

Not really that much of an exaggeration, we have corruption around those numbers now, what if covenants are as powerful as corruption? everyone will hate you for losing 30% dmg output for making the wrong choice, i have almost 0 hope on the system.

The same issue arises if a fury warrior is performing 30% worse than a ret pally. There’s always the potential for bad balancing by the team. That doesn’t mean the game ought to be designed in fear of it. We’d have practically no new ideas coming in.

I used to play all four, but i got tired of needing extra gear sets, so now i just flip flop between resto and balance.

As far as the covenant abilities, druids lucked out and got abilities for all four covenants that look equally useful for all four specs. Kindred spirits is basically symbiosis on a cooldown and will give you abilities based on who you use it on. Ravenous frenzy boosts damage, healing, and haste whenever you use any druid abilities, which means it will work just as well for heals and tanking as it will for dps. Adaptive swarm is a chaining insect swarm that damages enemies and heals allies, should be useful for all specs. Convoke the spirits casts abiltiies based on your spec, so that one works for all of them as well.

Some classes did get jipped pretty good with abilities that clearly lean towards one spec or another.

The system sucks. It’s dead in the water but you know BLizz is gonna plug their ears and pretend everything is fine and release it anyway!

Why can’t we have both?

Yes. I played the casual aspects of WoW before, been there done that…so right now my interests lie in higher end content.

Even if people don’t strive for the highest end content, some people (like myself in BFA) enjoy making a character the best they can be even if it’s at a lower “skill” level (only mythic+ pushing/normal raids)

They are not “our” talents. They are abilities the convent grants us for earning their trust and favor.
