Like, serious question because at this point, I’m unsure. It isn’t the spirit of OG Wrath, it isn’t this social RPG paradise. It isn’t exactly alt friendly going into phase 3 and any prestige raiding had is being reduced by the defense protocol that was supposed to keep heroics relevant, but in my case has done the exact opposite.
Well Retail light is a very strong word especially considering that we don’t have rdf As far as the question what was it Supposed to be well?
.That depends on who you ask it’s the same reason. I say classic plus is always going to be a pain in the butt you ask a 100 different people you get a 100 different answers?
Personally I was hoping it was going to be more lacks then tbc less midmax But no chance of that happening with this player base.
And that’s the thing it’s the player base that has made wrath Arguably the most casual friendly wow Expansion into possibly Less casual friendly than well classic.
On rdf gs,Logs,Parses On top of that you have a selection of players that want hard difficulty or want to make it hard because it’s easy to them.
And then you have a lot of mom and dad Gamers that just kind of want to play the game 50% of Gilds have yet to kill algorithm Even now and you still have people screaming don’t nerve Ulduar.
No rdf They would rather have the game die Then destroy their illusion of What they want wrath to be.
The best way I would describe wrath A casual friendly game with a big portion of the player base too focused on speed running and midmaxine to the point where they can’t enjoy the game.
And another half of people Wanting it to be Vanilla That’s what I would say.
You’re very correct Thank you for approving my point So call me crazy But maybe The game should be designed for the 50+ % Of the Playerbase and not 20% Maybe Just a thought i’ve set it before classic players do not like Super hard rates there’s a part of it that does but that’s not the majority.
Literally go play Retail then, stop trying to make the game that was intended for the people who wanted to have the old style gaming into the current iteration of the game. Seriously, just go play Retail if that is your issue.
ULDUAR 10 MAN EASY AND 25MAN EASY (yES, i said easy, cuase thats what it is) As long as people halfbleep know what they are doing, this should be a cakewalk. If everyone cant kill hard modes thats ok, its meant for people that can.
The Defense Protocol’s are what makes this iteration of wrath even more Alt friendly. There hasn’t been anything done to make alts less friendly than it was in retail wotlk.
But for the main question, All of the classic iterations have been about one thing, people wanting to go back and re-experience the raiding scene with the classes, talents, and abilities in place at the time.
Most, if not all, of the Wrath classic changes have been made as a Quality of Life for the raiding scene. If the only thing you want to do is raid, all of the changes they made in Wrath have been great to meh. They haven’t made any negative changes to raiding in my opinion.
I know it’s a bad argument, but RDF wasn’t available at this time during the retail life cycle, and wotlk was still considered to be very alt friendly. So the lack of RDF now isn’t a detriment to that. It will be a detriment to it’s alt friendliness in the ICC patch, so I will concede that missing RDF does affect alt friendliness in the long term. I will add that if the ICC patch lasts an entire year though, that alt friendliness won’t matter because people will leave at that point.
I agree OP. It’s really not clear what the goal is. It doesn’t feel like the original WotLK experience because they made at least some level of change to every aspect of the game. They said they left out LFD because they wanted it to retain some of the vanilla feel, but then they also added inflated ulduar gear and made 5-mans drop raid loot, which is the antithesis of the vanilla feel. There are so many retail-esque features in the game now that it almost seems like they want it to be a retail clone, which just doesn’t make sense given that classic players aren’t playing retail for a reason.
If that’s exactly what it is to you, then why do you need someone to explain what it was supposed to be?
I see Wrath as retail-lite from back then, and it’s mega-retail-lite now in 2023. You see people saying they won’t play cata; I count myself one of them. I don’t think cata was bad; I actually liked it very much, the first 2 raids and seasons especially. But I don’t see any reason to play an old retail over current retail. If current retail isn’t meeting expectations, I would choose another game.
Ah, yes the alt-friendliness of everyone requiring you to be raid geared to do defense protocol. Can’t even do normal heroics because anyone doing heroics only wants to do defense protocol. So the only thing you have left to do is be carried in a GDKP to buy gear to be able to do anything.
Sure, by itself defense protocol should be alt friendly, but it simply isn’t. The player base has made it exactly the opposite because Blizzard left them the agency to do so.
This isn’t P1 where you hit 80 and had to run normals… Its almost P3. You can buy raid gear for the price of a couple daily quests on the AH. Which should be more than enough to talk your way into a naxx group where raid gear rains down.
