That’s true… but not as hurtful as serrated steel! Stabstabstab!
I did a ton of PVP in Wrath/TBC as a lock. TBC had the silly SL/SL spec, but you have to be okay with two things:
You WILL get trained by melee (and this becomes worse with the introduction of DKs although Demo around that time is pretty fun and anti-melee)
Paladins will dispell a lot of what you do
It’s pretty fun, but it’s a very different experience from a mage, who can juke and jive around his foes like a ballerina wielding bread and water.
Seems like shards in BGs are going to be fairly aggravating as well, and I’ve already steeled myself for that fact that pets will be hardup without the AOE reduction in big fights.
If you’re feeling mages have a mobility problem, you might just be playing mage wrong.
If you feel warlock is the answer to your mobility problems, then you’re going to have a bad time.
You do better rolling a shadow priest then man. They really only lose to warlocks.
Idk mage can reset fights a lot of the time, they have de-curse too. They have way more mobility than warlocks
I played a lot of warlock in late vanilla on through wrath. I used an SM/Ruin build and some variants of that most of all. I really enjoyed the sturdiness of the class compared to other casters.
The way I see it in organized play, the warlock is a ‘disruptive force’ for the other side. Warlock dps isn’t fast enough to really burst anyone down (compared to mage/rogue/warrior) unless you are on the favorable end of a gear disparity. But fear, and other tools can be quite disruptive. Also, it will take at least two of their team to reliably take you out because of the sturdiness of the class, unless you are on the wrong end of a gear disparity.
Pros:
Strong ‘pressure’ in the form of dots. Can place dots on multiple targets.
Disruptive cc. Can ruin opposing teams’ strategies with fear, succubus, banish (for opposing warlock summons), and death coil for emergencies.
Sturdy for a caster. They have a high base health pool for life tapping, but it is handy for surviving burst in pvp. Various life drains, health stones, etc. help also.
Summon Infernal is an amazing cool down, when used appropriately.
Cons:
No escape moves. If cc doesn’t work, your going to have a rough encounter.
Shadowbolt is good but not great. Long cast time for pvp. I used it rarely.
Using drains (life drain, mana drain, drain soul) created a ‘beam’ that everyone saw, and that lead them right to me.
Anyone can have a bad day in pvp land.

I looked at some Priest pvp and it looks pretty good, but they seems to run oom really hard. Is that the case or just the videos I have been watching?
All casters (with the exception of warlocks because they’re stupid OP) run oom really hard—it’s their limiting factor, and anyone with mana burns like Hunters and Priests will know to utilize this to gain an upper-hand.
No that’s the case. They have mana issues. My guy, you have to understand that all classes have pros and cons.
Spriest have the pro of being one of the best casters to 1v1 any class, their con is going oom
What is priest pvp like in BGs? I don’t really like how I have seen them play. They seem kind of dull.
What appeals to you about warlock pvp?
Shadowbolt is super cool, lore, felhound looks dope sick, lots of different builds, “free” mounts, quests that have a bit of flair. Just seems interesting.
Don’t forget the sweet underwater breathing buff!
Gonna play undead master race. Not really that big a deal lol.
