Corruptions were good borrowed powers

The character optimization was really insane , you could have differents builds for different content .

  • High M+ : ok go full vers
  • World content , Low M+ : ok go full Twilight Devastation + % haste to have fun and less tryhard
  • PVP : ok go some gushing wounds + vers or go tentacle procs for fun vs bad players

The high risk/high reward playstyle too , that was really cool to play with more than 60 corruptions , not really for yours healers tho  . This is something we will never see again …

I really hope , Blizzard would stick with this system and balance it ( Twilight Devastation dmg/proc) , they needed more time + imagine if the vendor was up with all corruptions available and not that bs rotation + dailies / cloak farm

Corruptions had so much potential , and we will never see this kind of customization again …

Now in Shadowlands , every spec play the same covenant , same stats for every specs Versatility + X , same legendaries , everybody has the same customization .

Legendaries are crap system

They’re not bringing this back.

Agreed. Lots of customization/experimentation potential is always a good thing, and I enjoy when we are allowed to do it (like covenants are now and should have been since launch).

I mean, most systems have potential IMO. But Blizzard likes trashing all of their systems every other patch.

That’s a bigger asterisk than you think. Infinite stars, mind flay tentis, TD, and Gushing Wounds really screwed balance in 8.3 at different points. Need I remind you of the 30 tank SotW/TD runs that could clear most of heroic Nya’lotha? Or the Guardian Druids that would one shot entire teams with a TD proc? I agree it was kinda fun, but there where some serious wrinkles that needed smoothing out.

Corruption was the best of the best ever made ever will be made borrowed powers period

Not gonna lie I absolutely hated corruptions. Will say though I basically didn’t get a corruption that was any good until like 5 weeks into the season. Oh and I got a mythic 15 platinum plating for my tank for the weekly chest sooooo yaa that season was ruined for me.

Corruptions were too powerful and at the beginning, too RNG.

Once the vendor was introduced, the RNG issue was mostly solved. But the amount of power that Corruptions gave out on pure RNG on acquisition was ridiculous, it was like if your weapon could randomly titanforge from a quest green into a Shadowmourne or Dragonwrath, and you could have multiples of those.

The on-hit ones like Infinite Stars, Gushing or Twilight Dev also had zero agency from a player perspective. Your input as a player almost didn’t matter, when those would proc (and how often they procced) dictated how well you did in a fight.

Looking at the #1 parse on Shad’har (the closest Nyalotha had to a patchwerk) and over 50% of their damage was Infinite Stars.

They could have done literally nothing but AA the boss, and they would have only lost 35% of their damage, because that’s how little player input actually mattered.

Having 40% leech on a DH was pretty dope honestly

Your general discussion colleagues demand to have corruption removed so much to where blizzard finally agreed coming pre patch

Thank your fellow gamers for ruining what was considered fun during its prime

TD go brrrrr…

having a bear tank full on yeehaw destroy entire teams was not tho

They are allergic to this phrase.

They didn’t balance it. So…yeah, it had to go. And yeah, A LOT (funny enough the majority of complaints factually were NOT from GD) of people complained. The AWC, which is already a joke, was a complete and utter embarrassment that year because of it.

I know you go deep, deep into defense, but seriously, shut it with regards to corruptions. It was an absolute failure of a system because they did nothing to tune it properly, on time, or in some cases, at all.

And let’s not even talk about acquisition before and after the vendor roulette.

Legendaries had the same potential, we’ve 30+ effects but you could farm just like 1-2 at 9.0 + crafting…etc imagine if the legendary could change effect like the essences, you could try every effect in different content, even one for flag carry and other for base defense…etc

Corruptions were good but really bad implemented due to vendor rotation and rng.

Blizzard keep creating toys for the players but doesn’t let us use them properly.

Corruptions were used as a punishment to casuals, whose alts had the ability removed to earn echoes needed to earn the echoes they needed to buy the essences they earned and no access to cleansing of the corrupted gear they were showered with, so it was a big nerf to casuals. A lot of people left at that point. I stopped playing BfA altogether.

Anybody who liked corruptions were top geared players who were enjoying the gigantic increase to the power gap it gave them, especially in random PvP, where they were able to take out entire teams of casuals with their borrowed power.

Corruptions were sooo broken and that’s why they were fun

Imagine Torghast but you get to keep all your powers when you left the instance

Corruption wasn’t this, chief.

No they really weren’t, at least not in the way they were implemented.

They completely broke game balance, not even a little bit, but by a lot and even after Blizzard nerfed quite a few of them (heavily I might add) it still wasn’t enough.

Borrowed power is something that should be used in moderation, if at all. Creating an entire patch around the concept isn’t good design.

They literally said it was only going to be around for season 4 of BFA before it left PTR. Was never intended to be permanent. If anything the backlash of a system like this was enough for them to never consider bringing it back and I support that.

Yeah sure it was fun running around with 120% haste or 70% vers at first but this garbage completely warped the game in a direction far worse than titanforging ever could have.

do you guys like the legendary system ?

i find it really boring , you don’t have choices

You use x for M+ , y for PVP , a for Raid .

There is 1 legendary stronger than the 10 others , for each content

I don’t know , Blizzard don’t want to buff bad legendaries because players will get angry if they have to remake another legendary

1 Legendary has been used by 3% of the playerbase , but they don’t giga buff it in 2 years expansion

Agency over your character is good design. Here are more systems that have agency:

Talent trees
Reforging
Many sockets on gear
Enchants and other professions enhancements
