Blizzard also has missed the memo on TD damage in heavy cleave, and M+, if they think that nerfing EV significantly is the solution. Plenty of undesirable Corruption effects need significant buffs if they’re going to expect players to consider equipping pending their corruption values.
I have to wonder if when Activision got on Blizzard again for low ‘monthly active users’ or ‘time spent in game’, they thought ‘hmmm, how about we implement anoher system like Legion legendaries, but on every slot, all the time?’
As a player who spent hours and hours grinding in Legion trying to get the BiS legendaries that became required for mythic raiding, only to get the one I needed (Impeccable Fel Essence) VERY LAST… that left an extremely sour taste in my mouth. I always said if they implement a similar system I would be gone. And here we are…

I’m one of those with no corrupted pieces. I have bracers with a corrupted effect, but the rng corruption gods didn’t bestow to me one of the op effects. I’ve yet to get another piece with corruption.
That is a pretty good summary. My argument is they need a longer beta test cycle and to invite more people. Too many long time players that have never been invited for beta that could prove to be useful in providing feedback.
But this also requires that Blizz communicate intent on beta. Without a direction and focus on what needs to be tested you are left to assume you are just looking for bugs.
And a tank who finishes +20 in time would have the same numbers as me. Try not to be useless next time.
They also need the resources to do something about testing feedback. Seems like they have a real problem with diverting resources to things no one was asking for and leaving core aspects of the game broken or unfinished.
Get dabbed on, people who got their BiS Corruptions and now may have to go back to the grind again
I appreciate quick balance changes but in a MMO where getting your BiS can take months, this can undo a lot of progress for folks, having BiS Corruption is that important, bit different than kneejerk reactions in games like Overwatch
Heck, Mythic N’Zoth wasn’t even tested, I just feel like this patch was rushed out ASAP
infinte star is secretly awful also it was nerfed last week with all the other damage corruption, besides echoing void and twilight devastation. So onnce the hot fix is in it will be Twilight or bust until that gets nerfed too
It’s almost like corruption is a bad system. Who knew? Aside from most players I mean.
A single rank 3 Echoing Void is not over powered TBH. It gets crazy when people start stacking a rk 2 &3 or 2 rank 3’s. with 1 Rk 3 in M+ Echoing Void does between 9-12% of my over dps. It is the same as having an extra eye beam.
infinite stars needs a nerf, regardless of whatever value it loses in multi target, those adds won’t survive long enough to take up a star anyway.
it’s also doing obscene damage in PvP.
Blizzard needs to ask it’s QA team why it isn’t doing its job if these effects were released in such an overpowered state.
Unless of course this was intentional. Which I suspect it was.
Really, and I know it speaks badly for me, but I can’t help but chuckle as these very expected nerfs keep rolling out. Some positive bonuses are already not worth the negative aspects of Corruption - the only ones that have been are the really powerful ones which, again, are getting nerfed. Are we enjoying the “experiment” yet, oh proponents of Corruption?
At this rate why don’t you guys just scrap this system. You are going for the player base that sits here EVERY EXPANSION, PATCH, ETC. and cries about how stuff is op, and needs nerfed and blah blah blah…
Why can’t we just be powerful in an expansion that was honestly just terrible. Finish out strong and then move on.
Players might as well just cleanse everything at this point and say forget the corruption effects as soon they will not outweigh the cost of having them… You are messing this up as bad as you messed up a 17 year old re-skin
It’s like we beta testers reported on these traits being a little bit too much but the devs decided to ignore us, again.
It’s ironic because I remember blizz backtracking with Legiondaries dropping by mere luck and how that rubbed people the wrong way just to introduce another system that is possibly more impactful in your overall performance that also drops by mere luck at the end of an xpack. It’s like, not only do you not learn, you double down on being negligent.
Is Stars 15-20% of your overall though?
If the team had designed classes well and tuned them well this wouldn’t be as big a deal as it is. Only thing corruption does is show how bad this team is at their jobs. They totally failed with intitial class design and tuning for this expac. They failed with azurite traits. Partial fail with the Neck and Essence design. Full fail with corruption by virtue of the way it was tuned.
Stop. Nerfing. Everything. If I’m not excited to log in and collect my gear at the end of the week (and corrupted gear was the highlight of this patch-it’s trash otherwise) then I’m not going to put in the hours needed to get that gear. I probably won’t be the only one either.
Just buff the trash ones. Like how in the hell are the boots that reduce slime damage in Mechagon (got that @470 yesterday) going to compare with…wait for it…anything if I don’t intend to try and 3 chest a +15?
Point being that some of these are so bad you’d never consider using them. The boots I just named aren’t even good in the dungeon they are designed for.
Here’s an Idea; let us add our own corruption to the gear that drops, and instead of nerfing everything into the ground b/c people don’t have BIS in the first 3 weeks (of a patch that is supposed to last just under a year-think about it) just bring the bad ones up.
I want to laugh at this dumpster fire but then realize that this patch is a test bed for shadowlands lol.
Well, now we know why they lowered the health of targets in visions for tanks. Just when my guardian was able to slightly out dps a hunter’s pet because of a couple ranks of EV, they nerf it.
