Didn’t know WoW required a advanced degree in math to be able to gear out. Huh I thought i played this game for fun not rush to 2nd party websites and do math.
But that is the problem! You must decide early on if you want to keep the gear or cleanse it!
Cleansing gear does cost corrupted momentos. So the fork in the road must happen early on as it impacts what you can do down the line?
In six months people will be swimming with corrupted momentos so it will not matter. But the first two months will be critical.
Some classes? I literally listed like all of them. Every class has outs to it besides Ele Shaman since they are both immobile AND can’t cleanse it. Every other spec in the game has one of those two options to circumvent the slow, which I stated earlier, is going to do absolute nothing most of the time anyway.
On almost every PvE encounter in the game you spend more time standing still than having to move. You can’t argue that fact. That being said the chances of the slow getting applied while you have to move is MUCH smaller than if you are standing still for an extended period of time. Like the chances of the slow getting applied to you at exactly between 20 and 26 seconds or whatever the time frame of M Orgo doing the ceiling collapse ability is incredibly small, and even that is light movement at best.
5 whole mementos.
5 mementos won’t make or break you once you have the 3 orbs, which you unlock after your literal first run.
Quoting the whole text for context is hard, you are part of the problem i described if you cant grasp the other issues titanforging had aside from the RNG factor.
Disagree.
You must decide if you keep gear instead of disenchanting/breaking down for mats. And if you keep gear you must decide do you cleanse it or do you keep the corruption? And then you must decide at some point which gear will have the first gem slot. There are big decisions made within the first two months.
Acting like people don’t already sim most pieces they get already.
5 mementos → critical
Oh god this forum, i advice you to go take a walk through wowhead to actually quantify the amount of mementos you are going to get and understand why the cleansing cost is meaningless.
There’s only “big decisions” because you’re grossly misinformed.
You walk out of week 1 with like 4 cloak levels and 2 Corruption resistance essences already, meaning you’ll be close to 25 corruption resist not even 1 week into the patch.
Which is better than “oh baby 455 mcforge me equip every time me no use brain”. Some people like decisions. If you don’t, then the easiest decision is cleanse everything so you don’t have to think at all and it is as if the system doesn’t exist.
I disagree that it will be meaningless at the start.

There will be an opportunity cost at the start. Choose wisely!
But down the line I do agree that past three months that the cost will be meaningless.
I don’t know. For me the whole “you set your own goal” is just setting the point where you decide to stop rolling the gear dice. That really isn’t the same thing as seeing a pre-determined end-point and striving for that end-point. That’s just deciding when you’re going to stop caring.
Again though… this is very subjective. Some people really like being able to keep grinding out the same content and hoping for forges. I’m not one of those people. I prefer to have specific checkpoints to hit as I progress. I don’t like the fact that I have no idea what pieces I’m currently wearing or where they came from. All I could tell you is that they’re probably a mix-mash of M+, Heroic, and Mythic raid pieces.
Eh, most of us have adapted. I have. That doesn’t mean that I can’t subjectively view both systems and point to the system I preferred. Because hands down it was the system that gave me a defined path.
The good news for me is that a lot of that is returning with CF in 8.3.
I don’t because i don’t care enough to because of the rng involved. I will not sim that crap either. I’ll stick on one peice of corrupted gear that my cloak will cover, more than likely haste because haste is good for me, bag a few pieces and scrap all the other crap i get like the junk it is. This does not sound like fun or look like fun. looks like a punishment system for gearing.
I mean, if you’re not simming now, what’s gonna be different ?
Just cleanse your gear and equip stuff at random like you do now.
You get the option in 8.3. Why complain about options ?
Because I will have to spend a currency to make gear good, why? So now instead of getting a upgrade, I will receive a piece of junk gear, that I have to go grind out a currency, that needs to be used else were mind you, just to make a “upgrade” a upgrade. Sounds like so much fun I can’t wait.
Boy i miss when gear was just gear and a upgrade was a upgrade and you didn’t have to search the web for what’s “best” this week, and oh no don’t get rid of that piece it might be “best” again next week or the week after. Oh I give up screw this gear It’s just not fun anymore because what you throw away today might be better tomorrow or even worse the week after. What piece of gear did I need a gain? ah screw it scrap it all and start over.
It seems like some people have a lot of contempt for the idea that they may have to make decisions about what gear to wear.
Only 9 slots can even be corrupted, and it’s unlikely for items to even be corrupted so it’s going to be a much less headache than I think you are making it out to be.
Scrap it then, if you can’t even be bothered to kill 3-4 mobs in 4 minutes to get currency to last you basically all patch.
Literally never was a thing in World of Warcraft.
Wait a min that’s just corrupted gear I was working on ok now off to start on the azerite gear, boy oh boy so much fun, Man I wish I just could play the game instead of looking all this up. well out of time for the day maybe it will sort itself out overnight, no, oh well off to work I work on this laters, Man i miss warcraft wonder if i will ever get to play again.
People were planing to use only corrupted weapons. But Blizz caught wind of that plan and increased the corruption on weapons by a huge amount.
