Correct overall DPS as restoration druid

Hello fellow druid,

I’m just returning from a timed +16 HoV after multiple try (youpiii !), the group was good and was pretty much self sufficient regarding the healing part.

I could focus pulling some dps : SunFire, Moonfire (with protector of the pack), Starfire, Covok + flourish + Nature Vigil and spam of HoT

Some pack was hit as hard as 22K dps !

Damn !! I did bring some decent dps balls on the table, right ?

Well, end of the dungeon, Overall dps : 5.4 k DPS

What I am doing wrong ? What overall DPS should I do as a druid resto ?

404 ilvl if ur wondering

Thanks

I would recommend you to use NV at times when you face 1 enemy/boss to take advantage and maximize your dps, although sometimes it is better to use when you have reloaded the CD.
Another way to substantially improve the damage that this talent does is to use it when everyone is on healing spells.
Another way to improve your dps would be to keep your Sunfire and Moonfire dots.
Another thing that influences a lot is your build.
If you are going to catweave, you should preferably keep your thrash and other dots (as long as they are 3-5 targets).
If you use moonweaving, you should only use convoke and boomy only for that (with the 1min convoke talent).
I hope these tips can help you a bit

I take any advice thanks

What should be the correct overall DPS ?

It will depend solely on the competency of your group, in like 15’s with good players i can overall 20k because there just isnt much healing to be done.

Ive had 10’s where i overall 5k as outside of my sunfire i couldnt spare any GCDs to dps.

I macro NV with Flourish, same CD and it does tons of damage.

most of my dps comes from NV as others have pointed out.

if you really care about your damage, i would def go for improved sunfire, as that’s also a huge dps gain.

being good at keeping up adaptive swarm at all times is something you’ll hopefully get better at over time. you’ll see a boost in overall dps if your uptime is on point with this spell.

gl out there :revolving_hearts:

It is very variable.
In the end it will depend on your team, but I would say that the minimum would be 8-10k. You’d be fine with that, as long as you don’t let anyone from your team die or something like that

PS: But if they die from eating mechanics, you are not obliged to heal them xD

Obsessing over dps as a healer is one of the corniest things you can do. A well thought out pull route and dps min maxing properly will dwarf any sort of dps you think you can pull as a healer. If you arent trying to be a top 100 world raiderio stop pretending like your dps is what is holding you back from timing 17s.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with trying to better yourself. He’s not out here complaining that he can’t time keys because he can’t DPS enough. It’s just a self betterment question

Relax :innocent:

I don’t known where the hell you saw me saying anything of such : Never said I won’t be able to time any key higher than 17. I have one timed at 17, all keys at 16 except RLP and AV, will start to do 17 and higher when all my keys are timed at 16, this how I feel to progress

I don’t obsess over my dps, I’m trying to improve it do to a decent output, if by doing a greater DPS overall the key can win 30/45 secs, even a minute on the timer, why the hell not ?

Back to the topic

That’s sound something I should look into

Probably going to make scream other rdruid but, I hate this spell, I try to be good with it but maybe because it is a “new spell” (didn’t play with it in SL), or having already a lot of spell in my bar, I forgot to use it on cd, make it not really useful (though I will keep in mind the AS talents to improve my dps)

I should indeed catweave more often, I’m doing it but not enough

Nowhere in the colleague’s post does he mention anything about not being able to complete a 17 or that he complains O.o
Anyway, I would only recommend you to keep/refresh Thrash and if you have the opportunity to rake along with rip. (I mention it so you don’t go crazy with putting all the rip dots ^^)
And well, the rest is basically what they mentioned to you with adaptive swarm (As a tip I recommend you use it before they put the key on your allies).
As long as you don’t neglect your allies, all is well
At least you’re not like other healers who do nothing but stare and overheal xD
