Controversial take, BFA's first 3 Patch zones were absolutely amazing

Those things are always great from Blizz. It is inevitably the story and/or gameplay that muck things up.

Very large disagree.

Nazjatar and Mechagon were beautiful artistically, as was the whole of BfA. The art team has always delivered such an incredible, very detailed world… However it is all for naught as the systems, the amount of mobs, the amount of aggro and the “no flying until revered” issues completely destroyed these zones.

I have very few fond memories of Mechagon and Nazjatar, only remembering how horrible they were to play in and how horrible they were to navigate.

War Zone Assaults daily quests on a PvP server was the best open world content we ever had in my opinion.

I loved how much it felt like Warcraft was back.

I don’t think any of that is controversial, those are not the things that made people dislike BFA.

Honestly, the biggest middle finger of it all was that questline that let you choose to not be in support of the warchief, but it literally did NOTHING to alter the outcome in any way. We were justed forced into it anyway.

Yep.
All player agency removed.
I found the faction war storyline to be psychotic ravings,

Not controversial at all. The BfA leveling campaign was dope as hell, both horde and ally side.

There wasnt any to remove to begin with.

BfA was great for the most part. The only downside was class mechanics and Azerite Gear being boring/poor exchange for Class Tier sets. The last time I genuinely enjoyed Retail at all.

I don’t think there was any controversy at all. They sucked. Then and n ow.

Hmm,

maybe I should have worded it
“denied players the choice to not be genocidal psychotic Afrasiabians”
In the end I did finally choose to not pay Blizzard any money for a few years over a psychotic storyline.

Loved the zone art and non main quests though.

I hated the Horde story in BFA and focused on the Alliance one. It would have been nice not to be hit with the cartoon villain bat but blah.

the faction war made BFA super pallatable to me. my favourite thing was throwing down for the horde / suppressing alliance incursions. then corruption happened. ah well.

nazjatar was great in creating a small zone and cramming everything into vertical layers of horrible

Yea.
Funny flashback. I remember giving feedback:
"Give my Horde toons the ability to temporarily desert to the Alliance for the expansion, or run an underground Resistance of Partisans, and I will gladly pay whatever penalty you ask for. I would not support genocidal psychotics in real life nor will I in a friggin game to satisfy the ravings of some lunatic. "

BFA was a top tier expansion in general that carried over residual saltiness from legion, and you will never be able to convince me otherwise.

It had an absolute abundance of content at launch. More than I think we’d ever received before and since.

The azerite “controversy” was only really existent on the internet. The reality was it was trivial to regain the powers, and the powers themselves had fairly little impact on actual balance.

Some of the best leveling in the game.

It was the last faction war xpack. That’s a good thing or a bad thing for some, personally I miss that aspect of the game.

The first content patch had TWO patch zones. One of which has been one of the better “timeless isle” clones we’ve gotten in a long time.

We had a focus on story with the old soldier cinematics.

Last patch revisited old zones which believe it or not was something people were asking for.

Visions, well a little bit of a pain to get in, were some of the best solo content we’ve had in a long, long time.

Boralus is the best city in the game full stop.

Old gods.

The only real black mark is they did n’zoth a little dirty for a villian being built up since cataclysm.

The internet fuming over BFA is one of the great tragedies of this game. Well wow is in a decent spot now, had they kept on course the game could have really had a second renaissance.

I’m probably in the minority but I really liked BFA and AZ traits. BFA is probably in the top 3 Xpacs for me. I hated that we didn’t get another faction war and that the Horde was fighting with itself. Such trash. Don’t get me started on lame Baine either. Most useless Tauren I’ve ever seen.
