was farming for mats and I went back to SW to place items in my bank and got a pm for battlenet stating I have breaking the rules and exploiting the economy, I have no idea what I did wrong. Weird thing is back in the day, if a gm contacted you it was in its own popup window.
Has anyone else have this happen ?
It’s usually a scam. I get these off an on more these days.
With a very obvious not blizzard site in the message to go to. Don’t click on those, ofc. I have this the open world version of bg trolling.
In bg’s an oldey but a goodey is “you are in danger of being reported afk. Type /afk in chat to resolve that” . 22+ years later and dudes still fall for it. Kind of impressive actually.
ya def a scam.
dont go to the website they post.
if a gm messages you you get a popup and a ticket or something .
I know in later versions when blizzard messages you its in a separate window. A standard whisper is a scam. I’m not sure if this also happens in classic
Got something like that myself that was claiming to be from microsoft, I just told them to go F themselves and blocked them, tons of scammers pretending to be GM’s, if they don’t back off, just ask them to “Turn on their GM tag and prove they’re real GM’s to be sure they’re not another scammer” and they’ll either leave you alone or block you XD
thats just a bot whispering everyone. the real blizzard no longer has in game GMs anymore they fired all those staff at the end of wrath to make the stocks look better. when a GM contacted someone in game it was a whole event. either they came to you in a cloud that suddenly formed in the sky and floated down or you got teleported to the questioning room under GM island. now its all AI
I keep hearing that there aren’t any inworld GM’s anymore, and honestly I’ve never seen one.
blizzard won’t contact you in game, you would be suspended and get an email
You are more likely to get an ingame message from a unicorn, Bigfoot, or Isaac Hayes at this point. It was a scammer.
You cannot be this gullible. Classic players really are the lowest IQ individuals. Like please man. If it doesn’t have the blizzard icon next to the name it’s not a gm. Gms don’t monitor TBC. Bans come in waves. Like. Google man. Use Google.
Like others have said, they would have a “Blizz” tag before their name.
Also, their name and text will be in blue, not the normal pink color used for whispers.
I went looking for a Google Images example to link to but I can’t find one.
Did you fall the the Prince in Africa Emails too?
It’s a scam, just report them. If you get a popup tickets or a Blizz tag beside their name, it means its REAL GMS
I thought it was suspicious that the GM used a $ in their name but maybe they’re allowed due to being GMs. The first point goes to GM $cammin.
Just a scam. Dont do anything they tell you to do such as go to a website. I dont even respond to them. I just report and carry on with what I was doing.
I got two of those last week. Look at the name of the person whispering you. Definitely not authentic. Report them and move on.
