Constantly disconnecting from the game (Comcast)

I am constantly being disconnected from the game (this has been going on since pre-patch.) I have been on for less than an hour and disconnected 6 times already. I have been running a ping to google.com and my gateway to verify I am not actually dropping my connection and I am all good there.

I have tried disabling all of my addons and it still happens.

Also having this problem. Cant log back into my toon for 5 min, keeps getting disconnected over and over. Able to login to OTHER toon just fine. After 5 min or so, i then am able to login to my main again.

Any time there is a large amount of YELLOW on the screen, my game freezes. Hunter multi shot for example, lots of the beaming “sunlike” effects in Uldum, the large Yellow bubble shields and beams in the Scenario “assault on Zanvess”…these are just a few examples. Heavy amounts of simultaneous projectiles slow it down…but if they are YELLOW it seems to be much worse

Heya Hudiddy,

While a ping to google may be useful for some things, there’s a large difference between your connection to another company’s servers and ours - you’re probably taking a totally different path. (More info here! * shameless FAQ plug *)

Let’s see if we can find a communication breakdown before doing any troubleshooting. Please create a WinMTR test which catches a disconnection. You want to restart the test every 10-15 minutes until you catch one of these problems. Once you’ve caught one red handed, run the test for about 5 more minutes. This will let us look for problems between your house and our servers which may cause this.

If you have problems with posting it due to a link error, go ahead and copy paste this into your next post, and replace “WinMTR goes here” with your test.

WinMTR goes here

For the rest of you,

I don’t commonly ask for multiple winMTRs in one thread, but oddly, you’re all on the same ISP (Comcast). Can Dandren and Jèroy also post the information I requested in my above post when a disconnect happens? I’d like to compare your tests to eachother. If it turns out you all have separate problems, I can just split you into your own threads.

It doesn’t reveal much. I was disconnected 3 times during this shortest. I should also mention that i get disconnected from the battle.net launcher as well. At the top right hand corner of the launcher, instead of my name, it displays the little unplug icon and says ‘Connecting…’

Nevermind about this WinMTR. I did it wrong. I will redo right this time

i don’t think it would be comcast, since i can login right after into another toon and not get disconnected. But if i go back into the toon i DID get disconnected from within the 4-5 min after the first disconnect, it will just keep disconnecting. If it was ISP/Comcast, i would think i wouldnt be able to stay connected onto any toon, not just the one first one.

Had this running, and disconnected. Tried about 2-3 times to get back in under MAIN, and disconnected 2 seconds being in. Tried an ALT, stayed connected just fine for a min or two. Tried my MAIN again, and disconnected 2 seconds in again. Went back to ALT, and stayed connected another min or two. Then went back to main one more time, and it finally stayed connected. Hey Jèroy,

I’m not seeing any specific problems in the MTR test. Have you tried a UI reset? It’s not uncommon for old or corrupted files to only cause disconnects for a single character.

A post was split to a new topic: Ponponz - Disconnections

Here’s mine. I will try a UI reset here in just a minute

Hudiddy,

If that doesn’t get you working, we’ve actually seen a couple of reports of issues with Comcast users over the last few days since I last replied to you. Can you try temporarily downloading a VPN? They aren’t our programs so we can’t support them directly, but if you find a decent free trial vpn and test, does the problem vanish? If so, we’re probably looking at some kind of packet handling issue. It’s weird it doesn’t show up on the winMTRs, but we’ve been seeing a lot of that with these issues.

I will try that later tonight. I have been on for about 30 minutes and disconnected 5 or 6 times. I’ll update once I have more to share. Also, the error I get is WOW51900319. It’s probably generic, but there it is.

Update: I downloaded a VPN and played for a little over an hour and didn’t disconnect once. I turned the VPN off and reconnected and disconnected twice in about 20 minutes.

Hudiddy,

Any chance we can get more extended tests with the VPNs if you get some time? For now I’m adding you to the report. If it’s more than just the installation problems we were concerned with earlier and disconnections are occuring, we’ll have to find out why. It may also help if you create a Looking Glass test for us during the time you usually see problems and post that as well. Things look good from you to us, but it’s possible the path back is having problems and the Looking Glass test would help us find that if it’s the case.

Also disconnecting once or twice an hour over the last 2 days. Very annoying to deal with.

I will see what I can find out trying this. I was disconnected 30 times while trying to run a mythic 2. My internet is not disconnecting just the game. I also have Comcast. I’m using the best service available in our area Gigabit.

Over the last week I have been on and off of the VPN. I would say about 5 hours total on the VPN and not a single disconnect. However, when I leave the VPN, I get disconnected at least once and sometimes its so bad I just have to stop playing entirely.
