Blizzard’s intentionally breaking unit frames and limiting addon APIs to force us onto their laggy, bare-bones UI. They’re trying to kill addons like ElvUI and WeakAuras to “level the playing field” for casuals and sell us premium UI skins in the cash shops next expansion, change my mind!!!

Sure. Bigwigs and other addons are already skinning the new blizz dbm replacement and others. So no, what you are saying is not true at all. UI “skinning” will be alive and well.

If I were to construct a conspiracy theory, it would feel something like this:
Blizzard is going out of their way to make their game as complicated as possible and challenging in every aspect to achieve one of two goals. Either they finally succeed in getting the formula right and having the ability to once and for all remove add-ons and third-party sources from the game, or they are wanting to whittle down the player base and essentially start getting it set for maintenance mode after the last Titan. Of course that’s just a conspiracy theory and even I don’t believe in it but it’s peculiar that we haven’t heard anything about the next saga coming up. Not even a leak.
What you have described is a business strategy, not a conspiracy theory.

What is the timeline on this project? Can i get cosmetic improvements like flowers around charcter panels? Please give us the details of your theory. Without more info it’s not so much theory and more crazy cap idea.

If we’re going with conspiracy theories, mine is somewhat similar to your line of thinking.
I think they want to shove wow into Xbox game pass service. The game has to be dumbed down and add-on free not only to get it on consoles, but also make the game more approachable to people who otherwise would never touch the game.
I think they’re hoping they can bring in new blood to monetize later, while at the same time try to temper some of the anger from people who rightfully see their changes to game pass as a total rip off.
Neither will work, of course but nobody can tell any of the corporate sleazes that run these companies NO so here we are

I mean you’re not wrong. I’m surprised they haven’t already done something like what Zygor guides did where you can pay $10 per month to get an add-on that handles 90% of what’s going on in the game. granted they would have to build in combat for that add-on since it is mostly social and leveling.
Doesn’t make much sense. The much more likely conspiracy theory IMO is an xbox port due to -
- Microsoft acquiring the company.
- Gamepass going up $15
- Removal of addons
- Mass simplification of classes to make them more controller friendly.
- Xbox is struggling pretty bad.

To be frank, even if they tried to charge for premium UI i wont buy it. I still believe addons in their entirety should be removed. Works for several other mmos even if the players still find ways around it. Let people learn to play the game as is and limit possible exploits or advantages an addon can provide with enough creativity on the mod creator’s part.
It’s coming eventually.

I think it used to be but not sure that’s the case any more. Outside of the Switch which is catering to a different audience anyhow, it seems that mobile games have replaced console as the PC alternative.
This feels more like a ‘line must go up’ type deal given other areas of microsoft are struggling
I doubt they will sell premium skins, but turning wow into crayon mode is absolutely for tempting kids into the game who have never known not using a credit card every single day for the games they play.
Far more likely they are streamlining to no addon experience so they can convert it to consoles easier.

The actual conspiracy theory was Housing added at this time to soften the blow of the UI changes? More over, is this really for “accessibility” when normal flight starts at level 20 but mini-game flight starts at level 10.
Now if you take all this information, multiply by Pi, divide by the the constant on Euler’s Identity you get an interesting thing that points out that Raynor’s Raiders are at area 51 and helping against the Naga aka Lizard people brought to us by the Russians doing there Stranger Things experiment to find out if when you divide by Kardashev scale is it ice cream (parmigiana cheese flavor) or is a cucumber sorbet?
