Truth! That extra 5% is tasty, but I’d rather put the points into keeping my Ret spec viable. There is plenty of +spell crit on cloth/leather to go around.
My best advice is to create the group yourself.
This will solve the issues you are having. Especially for 5 mans. A lot of people don’t like to be the one creating the group and it is a pain in the butt. But you will be able to fill it correctly and no one will give you a hard time about it.
Yeah - it’s more work. But if you want to step outside the norm it comes with the territory.
For the larger instances find a guild that will let you run as shadow. They are out there - was just talking on discord to a buddy who plays on a different server that they haven’t found any shadow priests to run MC with them yet - all their priests wanted to heal.
If you can’t find a guild, start one.
There is a lot you can do but the wonderful part about classic (or vanilla) is that it really takes initiative to do it. You can’t just sit to the side and expect everything to happen for you - you have to step up to make it happen.
I am not , I have no issues getting into group. It is people like you are bad. There are already people selling runs on my server
Why would you quit your guild because random pugs turned you down?
Because people like easy and you’re askin them to work harder.
You have great single target DPS, only undead CC and no AoE.
Debuff limits impact shadow priests DPS severely and having 1 is kinda the limit of what makes sense.
Yeah the game is easy, especially if you play it with the right setups. As soon as you start going into alt specs, etc, it gets harder and more complicated and people dont wanna deal with that if they don’t have to.
And, with a metric ton of rogues and mages and less so, warlocks, you’re up against a wall of “optimal” so you’re gonna get picked less frequently.
I’m a feral druid, I feel ya, but I’m also realistic and understand what that means.
People are just dumb really, all you do is spam as healing paladin in classic and keep blessing of light on
These dungeons are not hard. This whole “meta” for classic dungeons is absurd.
MIND CONTROL HELLO???
i was there aswell. and people made fun elitist. so we can keep playing he said she said. but i dont remember classic being full of elitists.
Curious. You ever see that show Dr. Phil, and the episode where the hefty llady stands up and wants to talk to “skinny Minnie” on stage then puts her on blast claiming she’s being fat shamed and the skinny lady was to blame? Dr. Phil steps in to point out that the hefty lady had just in fact, bullied the smaller woman for no reason and with no provocation.
Imagine putting together a guild, where you’re recruiting people with a similar mindset. “Hardcore” or casual, matters not. Then some level 15 Gnome walks by, and calls you all elitist for no other reason then because you may, or may not play by a meta.
You’re far more elitist then they ever will be, because you’re actively harassing people for being what you call elitist, and because of their choice to include or exclude you. What’s worse is, you don’t even know for sure if it’s because of a class or spec thing, or if it’s purely because of wanting no competition on gear.
You’re literally the embodiment of the thing you think you’re crusading against. You’re out to put skinny Minnie on blast, not realising that you’re being a dink and trying to force your crap on others. Play the way you want, and let them play the way they want. And if you’re having issues getting into pugs, MAKE YOUR OWN GROUP/GUILD.
This isn’t hard people. Everytime you whine that “those darn elitists are ruining this game”, maybe take a second (You won’t be we can pretend) and think about how ignorant and elitist you’re being, about desperately trying to make everyone else conform to you.
Because a lot of people that made it to 60 by now, are try-hards.
Wait so… I’m bad magically because you say so? By advocating for you leeches to make your own groups and stop being toxic to others for playing the way they want to?
Really stop and consider what you’re pushing here.
nahhh don’t be so hard on yourself.
It depends entirely on what your goal is. If you have a priest and your goal is to level to 60 as fast as possible, soloing as shadow is the fastest way to get there. If your goal is to get into pugs quickly and have everybody want you in their party, playing off-meta is not how you get there.
I played priest to 60 in vanilla and would respec about once a week. I’d do dungeons and other pve group play in disc/holy for a week, then respec to shadow and solo and pvp for a week. I did all my farming as shadow because it’s much easier to farm in shadow. I stopped bothering trying to get a DPS slot as a shadow priest because of exactly what OP is saying. You can do it, but it’s harder to find a group.
It was the same first time around. I was a die-hard shadow priest and got discouraged by the fact that people didn’t want to group with a shadow priest. I wound up skipping dungeons entirely because of it.
Pugs are the entire reason I play wow. My priority this time around is to play all of the content and have an easy time finding groups, so I’m just playing disc.
You completely missed his point… it was “IF” its so easy why do you have to have only the meta groups.
It might varies across server but it was all over forum
I never said they should have allowed him into the group, I just said why they probably didn’t. They are free to make their own choices. I just find it humorous when someone in LFG is looking for a DPS but spends a hour trying to find the class and spec they want, when they could have cleared it 3 times with the first guy who said he would come.
Harmful? I don’t care how they play the game, I just don’t like being used for someone else’s gain.
You have even reach 60 yet , stop trash talking
Classic is easy, my group comp we normally run with is 3 fury warriors, 1 paladin healer and 1 combat sword rogue. We have cleared all 5 man content. for UBRS we added 1 mage and 1 druid for healing.
We barely tank, we don’t use CC and we rarely wipe.
It’s not trash talking… and yup, this must 100% be a main, right?
You’re toxic.
Oh Vanilla was full of them. So was BC. Heck as a tank in Vanilla/BC if I ever PUG’d (rarely), I was super picky on what classes I took in order to make it as easy as possible (why purposely make things harder than they need to be, especially with people you don’t know)?
was it? i am pretty sure there was a small group of people who called them self “eltist jerks” but once again wow and is casual compared to games like Everqust and UO. both still very popular at the time. so even wow "elitist " were made fun of.
