The HC community will tear itself apart on who is HC and who is “HC extreme.” Smallest wow community with over developed elitism …good luck casual HC players who make it to 60 and expect to raid.
The hype will be over in a month, and the servers will be empty before SOM 2 launches.
Most games aren’t built around 1 life and yet, many, many games have implemented hardcore as a mode? not sure why you care if others want to play hardcore when you clearly won’t play yourself.
Because HC pushed back SOM 2 and/or Fresh. That’s why. I’ve been saying it for awhile that HC is a trash fad that is over hyped, will not sustain, and steal resources from legitimate player content.

This entirely depends on how things trend. If people want to be trendy, they will need the addon or will not be invited to raid with the cool kids

I don’t mind HC servers and I think it’s cool Blizz is making one for people who enjoy solo play.
However, it feels like Blizz is going all-in on HC just like retail went all-in on a Diablo a few years ago and we all know how that went. The move in retail away from group content destroyed it and I think Blizz is making the same mistake again.

I don’t think it did. The changes they make for a fresh hardcore server will be minimal compared to SOM 2.

hardcore is legitimate player content because I play it, som2 and fresh are not legitimate player content because I don’t play it

SOM failed and Fresh will fail too, at least HC is different and more exciting.

Hardcore won’t fail but hardcore will bleed players. You level to 60, do MC, do BWL, do AQ. Somehow 40 geared players with no deaths.
You go into naxx, tank gets gibbed by patchwerk, someone crosses thadius charge. Boom 40 naxx geared players gone. Do you really think people are gonna level a new char, do all those catch up raids again to try and do naxx again? It just isn’t gonna happen. People who have raided for a year and escaped death will just quit when then death finally comes.
Or worse say I’m done with raiding and want to go out with a bang, purposely wipe a raid of 40 people before I quit. It just has a lot of problems end game.
HC Elite is raiding successfully so they are proving that it is possible to raid as Hardcore.
Endgame is not the only game in Vanilla. A majority of it is the leveling journey and gearing in dungeons. So endgame doesn’t really matter. The accomplishment is hitting max level without dying.
It’s a nearly 20 year old game…why do you have to be some damn cringe and expect things not to change?
