Concluded [A/N - RP Event] đŸ”„ The Memorial of Flames

Wonderful event! The organizers are to be commended for their time and effort into putting together a cross-faction, multi-part event that went so smoothly! I have a lot of fun.

Reposting my contribution to the ceremony, a good bit of Ten storytelling!

"I am a stranger to Darkshore, and to much of Kalimdor. My home is Hearthglen, Light’s Hope, and all of the great land the Argent Crusade seeks to restore. Long ago, the Argent Dawn stood against all evils on Azeroth, welcoming all who wished to fight for peace. We traveled from our sacred ground where the spirits of a hundred knights watched over us, to dispel evil wherever we found it. It was on those journeys that I met a dear friend of mine, the man who gave me my name. Haldan Groveheart, a druid who once dwelled in these forests and the deep barrow dens of this land.

Haldan told me countless tales of Kalimdor and the battles fought to preserve it, the blood shed to keep it safe, and the losses he’d suffered to preserve peace for others. He chose Lordaeron next to wander, turned plagued fields of blighted mushrooms into fields of wildflowers, and fought alongside myself and others against zealots and the dead to hold onto our sacred ground. One day, he called me Tenoly, ‘Warm One’, and said I brought him hope alongside the others of the Dawn.

For years he stayed with us, donned our colors and walked into unknowable danger with a smile that never fell from his face. Despite all he had endured, he never hesitated to fight to restore a land with a history he’d never witnessed. The cause was righteous, and so he remained. Northrend, and our true struggle against the Lich King came and went with great loss. Friends I’ll never forget returned to be buried behind our Chapel, or interred within the Sanctum. Haldan saw the time of our land’s struggle was nearly over, and chose to return home. We said our farewells for the last time nearly four years ago.

When Windrunner’s war came to these lands, he sent word, begged me and other comrades of the Crusade to aid in protecting the home of his people. I’ll not dwell on my actions, only that I accepted. When Teldrassil burned, I can only admit with shame that there was nothing I could do. I was forced to lead the others who were with me through Horde lines until a Highborne arcanist could ferry us to safety through arcane means.

It was not until days after that I received word
"

Tenoly’s eyes become misty, her throat bouncing slightly as she swallowed.

"Even as he ferried countless innocents from Darnassus, my friend despaired. He sent away the civilians he was sheltering, and wandered into the old Argent Dawn embassy where he’d worked, even as it was consumed by flame. My friend died, consumed by the grief inflicted on the entire Kaldorei race.

Our united hearts are all that stand between us and the despair the darkness seeks to strike us with. Be strong, not simply alone, but with one another. As one who has few old friends remaining after a life of struggle, I can only beg that of you all. That
that’s it."

Really enjoyed attending! Great job by both the organizers and contributors!

Sorry to anybody who might’ve tried to RP with me but might’ve not gotten a response. Being the expert planner I am, I didn’t think to install a chat management mod to sort things before the event and I was just awash in orange text.

Your contributions were lovely, Barnabas. And I adored the mount you departed on too  :rat:

Mad props to the organizers for making this event, it went so dang smoothly that I’m still in shock from that fact.

All the attendees were so respectful and wholesome, it really warmed the heart that I keep in a jar.

Great event, and a lot of fun. My only regret was that I couldn’t come on my main.

Figured I’d contribute here, due to having to head to work and missing out. But from what I was able to witness, it made my orc quite happy. Thus the Elder will share.

“You all, are young. To share the tales, the loss, the understanding of something so tragic. Yet
”
Motions towards the crowd.
“Together united, you all do stand, against a common cause. I know the steps you take, the road you follow. As I have walked it numerous times through the existence of my life and there after
”
takes a breath, the frost escaping his weathered old lips.
“Together we are strong, though one would say, an orc has no right to here. To stand amongst you
who suffer. I am Frostwolf, I know what it means to fight a foe for years. With Stormpikes, and to compare. The honor lost for the Warsong, who fight with the night elves for many years
is most tragic. For this is an outcome we never would of imagined.”
takes a moment of silence
“We are prideful, we are bound to tradition and honor. Though it was and has lost meaning since Hellscream and the Siege
many still and WILL walk the path of what our people uphold
Though we are enemies, we are still bound to accept and honor the fallen. Though at this time, in your lands, we are tresspassers. We still wish to offer, our apology. To the Night Elves who lost their young, and old
who held naught but any weapon. But cowered, thinking the Horde would just imprison them
instead to burn screaming slowly
As the world watched. I stand by Saurfang, I stand to fight, for it is for the living I will lay my own existence down for
for in death, I will still serve.”
The elder takes a moment to look around.
“I see before me, a people who cry for the lost, but who will stand strong against oppression. May we honor the fallen, and bring back honor and reason to many who wish to look away. I am old, I am tired
but for a cause like this, this elder will still offer a strong mace to swing. By alliance and Horde alike
for together in this time. We, are not enemies. We are brothers and sisters against an oppression of evil, that must be stopped.”
He’d pause, to then turn, kneeling to contribute something, a small pair of dolls that was old, worn from weather and time. A childish nightelf and a childish looking frostwolf.
“I am sorry little Nuu’wen
That I was not here for you
my one Night Elven friend who befriended me those times in Pandaria
But know
I will take up arms
to fight for your people
this I swear upon my blood and honor
”
He’d then stand, turn, and look towards the crowd who came, and thus would speak.
“I am tired of war, I only wish and desire peace
to see all races fight
and share joy together. War has gone on to long
for nothing but tragedy for all it’s people. But one last time. I will fight for a cause.”
The Elder would kneel before the crowd.
“This old one swears, by honor and blood. To fight to his last, dying breath.”

What can I say except
 W O W!!!

I am so incredibly humbled by the number of people that came to our memorial!! Each and every one of you are so special and helped to make this one of my most favorite events that I’ve ever done. Your kind words have touched my heart, and I’m more excited than ever about continuing to craft great IC gatherings for all denizens of Azeroth (and beyond!).

My deepest thanks goes to my fellow hosts Gotosh, Za’tiya, Elliistra, and Feyawen, whom each brought so much life to the activities that truly made the event what it was. It wouldn’t have been anywhere near as good without their help!

And, of course, thank you to all of those who made presentations during the Circle of Remembrance activity. Your characters’ stories moved me greatly, as I hope they moved many others. We encourage everyone to post their presentations on this thread if you wish, especially if we didn’t get the chance to hear you out during the memorial proper! All of you who’ve posted yours so far are amazing, and I’m very grateful for you sharing your character’s unique perspective and experiences with us. :purple_heart:
