Concerning the vulpera

tbf the best gnome in all of fiction, Regill Derenge, is basically the complete antithesis of most WoW gnomes.

Neither did hobbits. But the lack of all of the above didn’t diminish Bilbo nor Frodo as characters. No the Vulpera aren’t a major “nation”, they’re the scruffly little cute guys. I think the Horde is well supplied in the big, beefy, freaky, bombastic, macho, Melinibonean-style decadent, and creapy departments.

If Blizzard doesn’t want the vulpera to be some larger-than-life race with over the top qualities, that’s fine. But they could’ve at least provided more background information to the vulpera to make them a bit more interesting, at least to me. Even Tolkien’s hobbits had at least some additional lore to them to give them a bit more intrigue despite keeping their origins ambiguous.

If the Alliance get a version of Vulpera, the Horde gets a version of an Alliance race. May a Dwarven one. Though making Arathi Horde instead of neutral would work.

You can do that with blood elves now, I think.

Man, get that crap outta here. I want those dark trolls we found, those look super cool and probably would have spooky druid forms too. Give me monster looking races, not some half height human

It is more than a little odd to me they’ve less lore than unplayable races. I’m fine with them being more basic but it’s weird there’s no Wild God they descended from or any origin myth in general.

They’re very much Just Here Now.

I expect them to be more fleshed out in time, though. We still have more patches to go and I’m not sure that’s the last we have seen of black blood.

Vulpera on Alliance never ever. I think Blizzard adding in the “look like another race” thing with engineering and enchanting was enough on their part. There’s more “vulpera” in Stormwind than Orgrimmar on MG.

It does amaze me how vulpera seem to be more liked ally side on MG than horde side.

I always do a double take when i see someone rping as one in Stormwind

There’s nothing to develop. They are basically there for two reasons, one I don’t want to talk about, the other is to be cute. So the most you’ll see out of them is either some of them appearing and singing cringe songs that are meant to make you think it’s cute when in reality it’s just annoying. And maybe quests related to sifting through trash to find shinies, cause that is basically their whole spiel in Voldumb.

I’d like to quote a friend of mine here, a long time out-of-the-closet furry:

“I like the Horde as a faction more, but the Alliance has Worgen, so…”

And there you have it.

Moonguard is the Goldshire of the Realms.

That said, I’ve never seeing anyone roleplaying as Vulpera on an Alliance avatar.

There’s a few. I know one who only RPs as a vulpera. They’re around.

And as a furry myself, I adore the vulpera. Cutest little buggers ever :dracthyr_heart:

Edit: Worgen are my fav alliance though. Though I honestly wouldn’t mind a race similiar to the vulpera ally side… :dracthyr_heart:

Be pretty random if they were void spawn. Granted that would explain some of their actions on RP servers.

And seriously. I’m not judging. My interest in vampires, werewolves and monsters in general isn’t strictly platonic. But for the love of God people whispers and party chat are a thing.

Personally I think they got shamed too much by the early internet and now as a result just have none.

My personal favorite was someone who said they arrived in a manner that would imply pregnancy was the goal. And I was so desensitized at that point my main beef was you’d describe your character’s action with that much meta text.

Vulpera have the same problem as male blood elves with certain sector of Horde players for not being “manly and brutal enough” for what they perceive as the Horde aesthetic.

I’ve been playing Horde since 2004 and have a character that literally floats everywhere and speaks in a fruity accent. Not being butch enough isn’t the complaint. The complaint is they’re basically 2000s platformer mascots that appeared sans explanation and were given equal say amongst the Tauren and Zandalari for solving like 3 minor problems.

Their lore is objectively crap and they’re here to appeal to furries and the vastly more large group of people who think 2003 platform mascots are neat.

Not much different than Orcs being made to appeal to Klingon fans.

I love the vulpera. The only reason I don’t main vulpera is that I prefer the goblin themes for little guys and I prefer Worgen themes for furry guys. The fact that I have so many other options isn’t a bad thing and isn’t necessarily a knock on Vulpera.

I hate the dracthyr. I’m still mad we got them instead of Sethrak. And I’m still waiting on Hozen so I can do a drunken monkey instead of panda (which I also love pandaren)
